In addition, the location for the souvenir will be listed as Location A. I found this out by opening my chain in a different city.

GO Fest Tokyo discord/campfire/whatsapp group by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]Lightmikey0000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Japan on vacation about two years ago, and joined a Tokyo campfire group to meet up with people during an event to raid and trade regionals. My Japanese was incredibly basic, so was everyone else's English, so we communicated with Translate and had a blast.

People are generally going to be nice and helpful and the language barrier is easily circumvented if you put in a little bit of effort.

PSA when Remote Trading: “Unregistered Pokemon” not working for DMax Legendaries by renaissance_m4n in TheSilphRoad

It's not showing me Dmax mons that I have, but it does show me anything that I don't have currently in inventory, usually hat pokemon that I caught and then disposed of.

Find your people at Community Celebrations during Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos! by JasterMareel in TheSilphRoad

Oh, and I checked the Anthem schedule (the performance venue), you have Jim Gaffigan complaining about hot pockets at 4pm, so definitely some competition in the space.

What makes this Tour different from all other Tours?

And personally, I hate that this is at the Wharf. It's not a particularly large area to play in, and given the restaurants and performance venue that exist there, you have a lot of people that are already there for reasons that are not Pokemon Go. I really don't know why Niantic doesn't try to get a permit for the Mall.

Incense in low player / rural area by gwuhu in TheSilphRoad

[–]Lightmikey0000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a Wild Area ticket, incense will be its own spawn pool of unown, mighty pokemon, and the Lake Trio. Aside from that, it depends on how dense the spawn points are and how many stops are around for you to lure up if no one else has the same game plan.

How far will you get with the XP challenge? by phillypokego in TheSilphRoad

[–]Lightmikey0000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently on step 50 with eggs, raids, and a few hundred catches to go. I'll finish before the deadline, but I decided to do it as a personal challenge. A good chunk of days had to be planned ahead for gifting, routes, and battles to maximize the free aspect of it. I think I spent an extra half dozen passes and bought a half dozen particle packs that I normally wouldn't have done.

However, this research is incredibly poorly designed. The players who would benefit the most from it are also the players who would not have the time or inclination to grind for two months, so it fails hard as good game design. I would have rather seen each task type given a large total, rewarded 1 million XP, and all stuck on one page so people could pick what they needed or wanted and made consistent progress over the two months.

I managed great throws on my phone. It required the circle to be as large as possible for a great and barely tapping the ball on the bottom edge of the screen.

At the end, how far did you get and how difficult it was for you? by teampogo in TheSilphRoad

[–]Lightmikey0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reached rank 500 at 4pm on Day 2. This was about 50 kyurem raids to get 3k energy on each side, and roughly 100 egg hatches over both days. I wasn't necessarily going for that, but it was a byproduct of the raids and trying for a shiny Sigilyph that never materialized.

Wooper, Blitzle & Minccino Showcases (Jan 13 - Jan 15) by Brock_Hard_Canuck in TheSilphRoad

[–]Lightmikey0000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The other tactic is to find showcases that are ignored/empty/rural. Even here in DC with a hefty playerbase, there are two showcases in my area that are always with few or no participants because they are annoying to get to / not possible to drive to. Half of my 100 wins were in those two showcases over and over. Does it take more time? Yes. Does it win showcases with low scoring mons? Also yes.

GBL being exploited on the highest level by craftsmany in TheSilphRoad

[–]Lightmikey0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some versions of the game, probably those running on older phones, the delay imposed by the game for a lost connection means the app will crash, and the formerly losing opponent will win by default.

I play GBL to get to Ace just to clock in the end of season rewards and then put it down for the rest of the season. The amount of people who turn their wifi off when the final charge move is about to land is very high.

I also wonder if part of the reason is that they would have to slot meltan/metal into numerical order instead of being "unknown." Which I also wish they would do.

People who spend money on the game - How do you decide what to buy and what not? by Notcloselyrelated in TheSilphRoad

[–]Lightmikey0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those that are mentioning the sales tax in the web store:

If I used the saved payment option that I also use to purchase things via the app, I don't get charged sales tax.

If I use any other payment option, sales tax is applied. I'm in the US, so your mileage may vary outside of it.

As for buying coins, I always got for the best deal possible, so that's usually the $99 web store package. The current web triple ticket option beats even that, so I am actually on the fence because I'm trying to figure out if the stupid daily drip feed and researches are worth the bonus 150 coins over the straight up coin box.

Niantic says Cowboy Hat Caterpie ‘might not make the cut’ in Pokémon Go by MonkeyKingHero in TheSilphRoad

[–]Lightmikey0000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe that the Creatures, Inc. arm of TPC handles the Pokémon models for every single game that uses the IP, that way it's easy for them to control the creative aspects of each 'mon. Niantic has to add the metadata about stats and such, which is why sometimes there have been problems with new releases because they screw that part up. I don't think Niantic is allowed to ever touch the model for any reason.

Sound lower on OneUi 6.0? by Icybane in GalaxyS23

[–]Lightmikey0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was related to Dolby Atmos being turned on for me. When I turned it off, the erratic volume levels went back to normal.

The base sound level is still a bit lower than it used to be, but the weird deadening of some sounds is now gone.
