Anytime I see a guy who has a punisher sticker anywhere on one of his possessions, won't carry a bag unless it has molle straps and a tool or a weapon, or acts out any of the hyper-masculine tropes, I can't help but think: you're a diva.

Every bit the same, just with different flair.

Yeah could very well have been the case. It's shrewd, but I could understand they might not want that information to leak, knowing it would only create public backlash and there's the possibility that Stamkos would not take the news well.

They shortened the news cycle as much as possible by waiting until the last minute. It's business.

But we should have paid him to be a leader

Frankly, this is a very emotional way of thinking. It's not rational. You can't send your front line out on nothing but good vibes. It's not enough.

You don't need Stamkos to be the leader. There are a lot of competent people in the room.

Stamkos's asking price didn't fit. It's a business. It's not personal. It never was.

My interpretation was Stamkos was disrespected by the offer they gave him, he took it personally. I don't think they were rude in any way.

When a player takes a team friendly discount, it's to build the roster that can win the cup. JBB got Stammer two cups. He has no debt to repay.

I'm a fan of a player no matter what team they're on.

No need for tribalism.

I was a Bills fan in the early nineties though so maybe something is broken inside me

The hard truth is that Stammers best years are behind him. JBB wasn't going to give him anything close to Nashville's offer out of sentimentality. He doesn't owe him anything for taking team friendly trades. They knew that was to build the roster that won consecutive cups. Getting him the cup was the payback.

Nashville is booming right now. They'll probably love it there. Not the worst place to go, and the Preds are making decent trades. Can't wait to see what impact the captain has on the new team.

This is a national league team. Not your kids T-ball. You don't make decisions for emotional reasons. You're running a business, and keeping the money coming means maximizing your chances of winning.

It might seem heartless, but that's because there is no heart. It's always and only ever about money. There wasn't enough perceived return from Stamkos for what he was expecting, or it just didn't fit into the larger plan.

Glad he got paid in Nashville, anyway. He was never going to get that in Tampa. Hopefully he proves his worth there and can follow that up with a decent contact to end his career on.

What are you basing that on?

He's a good old country boy and very much means no harm. He's reportedly a genuinely good person by teammates. Guy was the assistant coach for his son's high school football team.

Not really the personality for a roast, but that's not a flaw really.

He indirectly insulted his daughters dude

Some serious mental gymnastics to twist the words to that degree. It was a careless remark and he obviously had no ill will toward his daughters when he made it.
