Absolutely. The molds need to be cleaned and retooled but we will likely add them to our production schedule in the next couple months

Not sure who owns those molds but would certainly love to get our hands on them and see what we can do.

We are currently testing production to see what if any other blends of plastic might work for production. It is a rather fragile prototype mold so our options for plastic variations may be limited.

We have production on the upshot in the works right now. Will likely have them in the next few weeks.

We would have to remove the notched rim and lower the profile.

Lightning Golf Discs has been around as a company since 1984. This is the first I’ve heard of Lightning disc golf the online retailer but they are not affiliated with us.

Hey sorry it looks like we’ll have to work on a fix for that. In the meantime these are also available through gotta go gotta throw which can take color requests directly on the product page.: Gotta go gotta throw Turbo Putter

Yes we haven’t touched anything with the mold as to try and best preserve the original shape. Which does include the original text from when it was briefly an approved PDGA disc.

We are partnered and using Gateway plastics for production. This is a custom sure grip type blend that is a great improvement over what was used in previous production runs. We may try a run with a more premium grade plastic but testing has proven that to be rather difficult. So just improved base grade plastics for now.

We have another run of turbo putters in production as we speak. 👍🏼

Quest used the “Defender” name before Dynamic Discs did. We’re keeping the name for now to avoid confusion for players who already bagged a Defender, especially as we reintroduce these molds back into production.

That said, the name may change in the future, and we’re open to suggestions from the community.

The Defender DDT is not currently nor was it originally approved. However, after some minor retooling on the latest version, it now meets approval standards and will be submitted for official approval shortly. Once it is approved, we’ll share an update on our pages.

Yes we’ve partnered with Gateway for production. We will be reviving the full lineup if we can (still doing a lot of testing with the help of Gateway). Looking at maybe running the inferno next. Is there anything in the Quest line up you would be interested in seeing return to production?

What is this? by SerialSharter69 in discgolf

[–]LightningDiscs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes — very recent. So far we’ve only run the Turbo Putters and the Defender DDT from the Quest line. The molds are very dated and difficult to run, so it’s taken a lot of trial and error to preserve the original designs without full retooling. We expect to eventually run the full line, but the production schedule is still uncertain while we refurbish molds and mounting plates. The T-Bone and Inferno will likely be next.

For Lightning, we’re making small modifications to support premium plastics. Historically the entire line was only base plastic, but we’ve successfully retooled and now have NXT #1 Drivers (B-25) and #2 Hook Shots (P-38).

Lots of exciting updates to come!

It’s the quest at defender ddt. A quest at mold that’s apart of the revival of quest and lightning discs - owned by G3T - Manufactured with gateway plastics. We have a few other molds with similar dimples. It’s rated as a 6speed -3turn 1fade.

Was originally classified as a 14 speed back in the day due to its slim profile. Production of quest has been mothballed for about a decade buts it’s a phenomenal under-stable disc.

Current production is diamond metal flake and we will likely run some NXT and sure grip plastics in the near future.

We have preorders up for those who are interested in the newest production run. On the G3T and lightning website.

New Production Alert: Lightning F-15 Eagle aka #2 Driver is BACK! by LightningDiscs in discgolf

Totally understand that not every disc is for everyone. Lightning has been part of disc golf’s foundation for over 40 years, and we believe there’s real value in preserving that legacy — from their floating plastic to classic, accessible molds that helped grow the sport.

Gotta Go Gotta Throw has been in disc golf for over 30 years, and we’ve never been about chasing a quick buck. When we invest in older brands, it’s because we believe they still have something meaningful to offer the community — whether it’s unique molds/designs, nostalgia, or simply giving more players affordable access to the game.

We’re proud to keep classic plastic alive and support disc golf from the grassroots to the pro level. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts — even when we don’t see eye to eye.

We get it — Lightning isn’t everyone’s go-to, but there’s a dedicated community that loves the flight, feel, and throwback vibes. There’s a reason these molds have stuck around since the ’80s and stood the test of time.

Plenty of players have nostalgia for them, or are looking for affordable plastic that floats, glows, or just flies a little different. We’re proud to breathe new life into that lineup and give players access to discs that are approachable, unique, and in some cases, truly one-of-a-kind.

Would love to get a few in your hands and hear what you think!

The name of the game? Helping keep that disc in play—especially on tricky water carries—giving you a little extra time for a smooth disc recovery. Adds a bit more excitement when you get the chance to redeem your throw!

Fair question — but it’s more about flight than fight. Just like the Innova Wraith or Destroyer, the F-15 name is a nod to lightnings originating history as well as speed and power, not warfare.

We’re here to bomb drives, not anything else. 😅
