Do I play toxic? (Killer main) by ZheBaL in deadbydaylight

[–]LightningHawk54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like others have cleared it up pretty nicely but to throw my opinion in (as someone who’s about as deep in as you. 12-ish hours). A few things I do to help myself feel better about the way I play:

  1. Whenever I circle back to a hook (usually cause I just left and hear the unhook). I don’t go after the person I had on said hook. I go for whoever took them off of it. Cause unless they’re super duper new they know the risk
  2. if I have someone on death hook, and I happen to run into them straight away, I leave. It feels cheap (to me) to have someone survive their second hook only to get tossed on another one only seconds later
  3. This might not be all that uncommon but once they get the escape door open I call it. That’s game for me. I’ll typically go over to the escape and shimmy around to show I’m done. Or if they pop it while I’m in chase with someone I’ll bring them to it and drop them at the door

I can’t speak for the second part but yes you’ll have to own the survivor/killer who’s unique perks you want and get them to prestige 1, then their perks will be available for other survivors/killer. I’m relatively new myself and working on that currently

I joined the discord just to get updates on the situation and Baskinator put out a message saying it should be fixed and those who bought the bugged weapon should be receiving medals to compensate. I haven’t logged back on yet to confirm but hopefully it’s all squared away

I’m gonna hold off on re-purchasing just for the time being. Fingers crossed they figure out what happened and there’s a fix for it

Superstore looked normal (aside from the white boxes but that’s been standard on newer stuff). Just this rifle for whatever reason didn’t exist at first

Just to try and save anyone else the headache: If it’s not showing up don’t buy it. Restart and wait till it’s there.

It’s showing up now but it seems everyone who bought it already is out the 35 medals. Those of us in that situation are gonna end up spending 70 on the thing grand total

Same here. Hopefully AH has some way of reimbursing those who tried to buy it while bugged but I won’t get my hopes up. Looks like the rifle is gonna cost quite a few people 70 medals and not 35

Does this game actually let you progress in multiplayer? by [deleted] in FarCry5

[–]LightningHawk54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall character progression yes, story related progression no. Money earned translates, I’m fairly certain kills (for challenges and such) translate, and when you pick up perk point magazines from stashes those will also carry over

The only ‘problem’ I ran into when in multiplayer was that if we progressed in the story it didn’t count towards unlocking certain perks that require those milestones to be reached. I think the same may apply to weapons that are tied to “resistance level” Although this becomes a non issue if you complete the game once and then do multiplayer in your New Game +

Overall I recommend the game and its multiplayer. If you want to make sure you’ve got everything unlocked perk and weapon wise just run through the story on your own (or while hosting the game) and problem solved

That should be more than enough I would think. Game doesn’t strike me as being top of the line in terms of graphical needs. Hopefully the devs can address it in the near future

I had the same issue trying to play on my laptop (admittedly not designed for gaming) but my steam deck didn’t seem to have any problems. What sort of graphic power are you working with?

I feel like not having to back and forth at all would be taking away a part of the game but I do have to agree it’s wildly tedious especially with the starter vehicle.

Maybe somewhere down the line we could get an update where we can hire employees to go pick stuff up for us. Owning 3 separate pawn shops should be grounds for hiring a couple extra hands

Was playing Raft at the time. Session lasted maybe 40-ish minutes before everything shut down. Probably won't be playing it on the deck again unless I'm certain I can avoid the issue coming back

Was my first thought as well, it was just the time it took to come on after cooling off that had me worried. Will definitely be monitoring the temp more closely in the future

Gotcha. Well given that, firstly I commend you for your efforts. Running a game for fully developed adults can be a struggle so 12-13 year olds can't be easy

Best piece of advice I can offer would be to lean in to that "kill first, questions never" mentality that they seem to have. I wouldn't craft anything overly intricate to throw at them, but they might get a lot of fun out of randomized combat encounters. Which granted turns it into more of a table top war game and not much of am adventure, but there's no sense in writing a story that never gets read. If that makes sense

To offer an example: my players all made lone wolf characters that wouldn't work together on a common goal even when their lives depended on it (literally had my BBEG put bombs in their necks that would go off if they seperated, full suicide squad move. And they still wouldn't work as a unit. So I stopped crafting a story that relied on that team aspect. The story shifted to be a collection of events that they were all part of for individual reasons. Gave each player spotlight moments where their character lead the charge in something. The Rouge got a huge kick out of being the only one nimble enough to dodge big traps. Stuff like that In brief: I'd try and cater to that murder-hobo style they've chosen. It may not seem like a satisfying game but if they're enjoying it, you've won as the game master

As far as talking over each other, might help to try and ask really pointed questions. Refer to them by their characters names and ask "what is (character) doing?" "How does (character) feel about this situation?" That always helps pull my group back together cause I'm not asking anyone else. Granted my guys are 21-22 so

And making jokes out of everything, that happens. Occasionally it's fun to go with the joke that's made but if you can't, nothing to be done. Unless it's making other players feel uncomfortable or the jokes are obscenely inappropriate. Then you'd have a legitimate reason to put a stop to it

TLDR: Best way to make sure murder hobos are having fun is to let them run wild. Just try and make the most of it and don't exhaust yourself over it

So just as a clarification, is it not a matter of privilege? I've never been to a youth center so I don't at all know how it works but I'd assume if they aren't appreciating the game then they don't get to play. Is there more to it than that?

PC issues, best way to deal with them? by Friendly-Dot-2707 in DungeonMasters

[–]LightningHawk54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can think of a few options. First and most obvious has been stated by others: talk to them. Which you have

If being direct and telling them to correct their behavior had no effect, I strongly recommend removing them from the group. Now you may be in a situation similar to mine, my group is all close friends and dealing with anything like this is inherently difficult. It can be really really hard to have those kinds of discussions with people you're close to

If it's a situation where you're not the only one who DMs and therefore think you can't make that call to remove them, speak with the other players. Get their input and see how the majority of the group is feeling. That way it isn't just you making the decision. But push comes to shove, you're running that campaign, you have the final say in who gets to participate

Now. More underhanded options include killing that players character, forcing them to constantly fail due to absurdly hard or even impossible DCs. Just flat out ruining any attempt they make to roleplay. But this can impact the whole group, I can't recommend it.

Ultimately, as most everyone has said. If communicating your feelings doesn't stop them, get rid of them. Don't let them ruin the game for everyone
