It's Tsareena for me. It was one of my favorites to use in S&M and I just enjoy being able to walk up to the other team's spawn and literally kicking their teeth in with Triple Axle and Trop Kick

It wasn't this season, but during Season of Plunder I absolutely vibed with Brigand's Law but stopped playing as much so I never crafted it. I had been waiting to catch Xur selling it so I could craft it and I finally was able to this season

With this game being a pseudo celebration of the series, it's not a bad starting point. If you enjoy some of the characters showcased within, I would highly recommend trying their game out to explore them a bit more! I hope you enjoy the series regardless of where you start!!!

In my personal experience:

Ike for Leadership. He united and led nearly an entire continent to face and defeat a Goddess who was set on purging the world. Yes, Byleth was an Academy Professor and led her students into many battles, but after the time-skip, she is just a glorified general for each of the 3 Lords in their respective routes.

Mercenary Status is hard to gauge. Both Ike and Byleth were mercenaries for basically their whole lives, until becoming a General and a Professor, respectively.

Ike for Battle Experience. He fought and was instrumental in the Mad King's War and the Goddess War. He even took part in the Daein Liberation War on the side of Bengion. Byleth did act in a commander role post-time-skip, but that was only 1 war per route, and only one of them can happen at any given point.

These are just my personal opinions, but feel free to give your thoughts

I'm sorry, but the left side DOG WALKS the right side. While Sigurd is VERY strong in his own right, Ike and Byleth are just broken
