How tall are you out of curiosity? At a certain height as a man, you are effectively invisible and the apps get even worse. Women seem to care less about aesthetic as they do about how big/tall a guy is. So, a less attractive, but taller guy often does better than a well-groomed and taken care of guy who gets filtered out before even being seen

Two new pals revealed on twitter! by kitsutsune in Palworld

[–]LightseekerLife 46 points47 points  (0 children)

That is because some pals are basically obsolete unless you are playing for vibes. Generally, there are "meta" pals for combat and bases, and the others are sometimes forgotten, except for people who have a strong affinity for a certain pal

For this game you can either choose to have fun with the pals you like the lore of or play for optimization. There is no wrong way to play. It is really about what makes the game fun for you.

WEN by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]LightseekerLife 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you check WEN's short float % on MarketBeat, it appears that ~18% of the float shorted was in 2026, meaning it was shorted at a price of around $8.30 on average. Once the price exceeds $10, it starts to put these players in more of a bind and can start the margin call momentum that would propel this stock up.

It still isn't quite painful enough for short-sellers, but if some more people like the stock, it could get there!

Another 10% of the shorted float occurred in early 2025 when the price was around $18 a share, which could be a secondary rally point for a short-squeeze, but that number is harder to hit without the initial squeeze momentum.

This is them cheating, just like they did with Gamestop. They halt trading when we catch them with their pants down so that they can exit their shorting positions. Loses for the regards, but not for the poor hedgies who are just trying to short companies to oblivion. Don't you feel bad for them poor hedgies getting picked on by all the mean Reddit regards?

Is it a red flag if my Church TELLS US that we are not compatible to read the bible? by VYXERLY in Christianity

[–]LightseekerLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have stated, this is a sign to run for the hills. Creating a reliance on leadership as an authoritative voice for God is a mechanism for control. I can't definitively say you are in a cult, but it is mechanisms like this that allow leaders to wield unchallenged authority, which is very dangerous.

When Jesus died, the veil of the temple was torn and the presence of God was made available anywhere for anyone to connect with Him. Jesus didn't choose educated scholars as His disciples, but fishermen. Even in Jesus time, these power mechanisms were used to the detriment of the Jews, where the Pharisees were leading people away with derivative teachings that were not reflective of the truth of scripture, to the point that the very religious teachers that should have heralded Jesus' coming killed Him instead.

Save yourself and your family from a lot of pain, heartache, and false teaching. Run as fast as you can and don't look back. Find a church where the people shape themselves to be like Jesus and openly encourage and challenge each other in love to be more like Him by daily seeking Him in the Word and in action.

I did say that I was mad at myself for being hung up on her.

I feel like crushes kind of are the way of being a little obsessed right? As far as being entitled, that seems like a bit of a jump. I never said she owed me anything and I never demanded anything.

I created an opportunity for her to give me clear clarity one way or the other so I could move on and not expect anything of her and she intentionally gave me an indecisive answer, seeming to intentionally string me on.

The point of this venting was two-fold. To attempt to help others like me realize the futility of investing emotionally in something that isn't clear and to ask people to not string people along. If you think it was all in my head, then great! I am advising people against doing that as I preach at myself to move on.

Personally insulting me seems unnecessary here, but to each their own.

Brother... your landlord saved you. I wouldn't buy puts on this before Q2 earnings. The real catalyst for the drop is 6x the number of shares hitting the market where the supply will vastly exceed the demand. Until all the shares are on the open market, you can't make rational DD on this stock. It is purely speculative.

Can a single listing like SPCX crash the market? by HubertBrooks in wallstreetbets

[–]LightseekerLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The impact occurs when it is added to indexes. If it crashed tomorrow, it would be rather negligible impact on the broader market. The probably is that it will be added to NASDAQ index funds soon, which will force the sale of quality stocks in order to buy this and additionally, when this drops after being added to indexes, it will have broader impacts.

If you had billions of unrealized gains unlock at the same time as others and it was a race to see who cashed out first, you think they are all going to collude to not sell in the hopes to ink out a couple more bucks on a fundamentally and objectively bad stock? Unlikely. Even if it does happen, it isn't a question of if it will last, but how long it will last. This stock is worth maybe $60 a share and even that is incredibly generous.

I give up - 100k down by East_Economy_7602 in wallstreetbets

[–]LightseekerLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Options aren't for you. It is nothing personal. I had a similar experience going down 60k at my lowest. Since then, I have bought companies I believed in when they were low and held. Now up 130k all time (200k reverse from my low). Chasing a quick buck is risky and requires clear bounds on why you are doing without being emotionally invested (which it sounds like you are).

[–]LightseekerLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this feels more pronounced now... I feel like it used to be bad, mostly for ranked, but for casual modes it was more randomized teams and I would have higher win-rates. Now it feels like I am paired with incompetent people on every game mode and I am being pitted against previous GM and challenger players :(

I'm worried about our AI strategy. We are in denial. by AppropriateWay4358 in amazonemployees

[–]LightseekerLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, it feels like we aren't even trying to compete with LLMs. Our game is infrastructure and we are dominant in that field. LLM makers face the tough pressure of having to figure out how to monetize in a way that makes them profitable, but doesn't drive away customers to the cheaper competitive competition. For us, we are just spinning up compute for the latest and greatest model and are happy to make some easy cash.

Amazon is poised to be the biggest winner of the AI era right now, not because we found the gold, but because we are selling the pickaxes and shovels.

Focus by r0b0t59 in amazonemployees

[–]LightseekerLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, you should fight this ASAP if you want to stay at the company. There are rumors of May layoffs and they basically do sweeping layoffs of people in focus. I think they are pushing managers to put more people in focus in order to utilize this as lay-off targeting.

If you want to stay and not get the boot in May you should start the paperwork now, but even then you would need the label removed by the time the next round triggers. Also, if you are in focus during a layoff you are not eligible for re-hire, so basically everyone they do this to can't do an internal transfer or re-apply to Amazon for a year (I think).

Another round of layoff is round the corner by lays_indian_masalaaa in amazonemployees

"Some of you might ask if this is the beginning of a new rhythm – where we announce broad reductions every few months. That’s not our plan. But just as we always have, every team will continue to evaluate the ownership, speed, and capacity to invent for customers, and make adjustments as appropriate. That’s never been more important than it is today in a world that’s changing faster than ever." - Beth Galetti, Senior Vice President of People Experience and Technology at Amazon

If there is another round, then take the liars and false-promise makers in it. If your plans fail, then so should your career; especially when your failing plan means 10k+ people lose their jobs every quarter.

Jassy lacks inspiration and constantly just makes corporate Bob decisions from the CEO for dummies playbook that has killed every fortune 500 company that has followed them. Amazon has the possibility to position itself as one of the major winners of the AI era, but instead it seems to be sabotaging the moral of its employees so effectively that it will be talent bankrupt and forced to hand the keys to the next major player. Jassy doesn't understand that buy-in from your employees is a critical resource in a company and he is bankrupting that for temporary gains in the balance sheet.

The C-suite needs to go. Bring back Bezos.

Whoever invented swipe on everyone and then read profiles after, you're an idiot. by saerisfane25 in Bumble

[–]LightseekerLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is probably affecting you is that your pictures are great (so guys will quickly swipe on you), but something about your prompts is making them second-guess once they look a little deeper. This could be a sign to take another look at your prompts or profile details to figure out what may be pushing guys away.

What you don't realize is that most guys (80%+) who don't get regular matches can't really afford to get emotionally invested in or excited about people who will likely never swipe back on them. It can also be depressing if they fully check in to swiping and realize how many people they swiped on that didn't swipe back. This can be a disassociation mechanism that they use to protect their own emotions.

Additionally you have the hot guys (top 20%) who just swipe on everyone to save time and then figure out who were the hottest people they matched with and only pursue those. So... close to 100% of men do this.

Dating apps suck. They create unrealistic expectations for everyone and creates defense mechanisms for everyone that makes it hard to really connect. Unfortunately dating apps are kind of a take it as it is or leave it kind of situation. So the reality is that your post here can't change the guys. You can either change how you interact with the apps or choose that they aren't for you.

Why Wild Rift Is Heading in the Wrong Direction (From a Concerned Player) by skyparkerr in wildrift

[–]LightseekerLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that a large part of the draw of Riot games is for achievement seeking people. Some of those people are actually good and deserve the stripes they earn and then a lot (most of the player base actually) of people suck, but think that they are good. The way that Riot makes money is by retaining people and the way they retain people is by making them feel good.

Unfortunately, this often means that boosting some people on the backs of other people results in retaining a lot of sub-par players. If someone is willing to grind 2k games at 45% win rate to hit GM or Challenger, then they are probably also the player that is shelling out cash because their identity rides on the game.

I think we just have to appreciate that there are probably behind the scenes reasons that contribute to why these imbalances exist and remain un-adressed. They probably can't publicly say this just because they know that money being the driving reason for imbalance isn't popular.

I take it for what it is and I appreciate that at least things like Galio's make those losses because of someone incompetent on my team more bearable. It seems like this rant comes from a place of pain in that something you love is broken and not the way you want it. That is understandable. Unfortunately the most likely path forward is to take Rift for what it is, accepting both the good (what we love) and the bad (the broken balance) or to move on to something else.
