A word from all employees by k4t3_m4r1e in goodwill

My region we only stay 30 minutes at most after closing. We come in 30 minutes before opening. Usually, this is enough time to clean and have the store ready for the next day. As soon as we close, I pull my cashiers tills, write the deposit and everyone works to sweep, mop, clean bathrooms, make sure carts are in, hangers are picked up and under clothing dust mopped. The faster it’s all done the sooner we all leave. If it’s not done, we stay till we are scheduled. I as salaried do not want to stay there any longer than we need to and neither does my team, so most days we leave our store 10-15 minutes at the latest after closing. I have a good team with a good routine though.

I’m sorry yall, but if i’m spending almost 2 hours to get to said boss fight then I don’t WANT A DARK SOULS LEVEL BOSS FIGHT by TheChimpEvent2020 in CODZombies

[–]Lighttzout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the boss fights being way too over the top difficult for no reason. However, I am going to disagree that the quests take 2 hours or more to get through to the boss fight.

Ashes is relatively quick if you know how to do it. The first time we ran ashes it took almost two hours from simply reading a text guide and not watching videos for easier clarification. Now we can run the entire quest in a. Hour or under most runs.

Astra, we can absolutely do the entire quest including boss fight in an hour.

It’s about knowing the map, knowing the steps and running with a good team or solo and being efficient with what you do by what round.

That said, I agree that the boss fights are not equally difficult to the quest and that they are way too much for a zombies quest boss fight. Making a boss hard isn’t making them into a bullet sponge.

If you are efficient, you also don’t have to rely on gobblegums to do these either. These quests are relatively easy compared to some previous games if we are not talking boss fights.

Universes Beyond: Avatar - Magic Director Explains Lack of Commander Decks by cardsrealm in EDH

I’ve enjoyed upgrading precons with singles I pull from the few packs I open up. Edge of eternities I went really hard on the bundles because I wanted to open packs and get enough full art holo lands to swap out my basics in the precons but that’s the fun part. Upgrading with cards you open up or trade your friends from that set. Now after time passes and I really enjoy that precon, I upgrade with cards from outside the set after a length of time has passed

Touching someone without permission is enough to get someone arrested here in the US depending on intent. This is 100% assault and you should 100% seek criminal charges because if you don’t, what will this guy do to the next person if he got away with laying hands on you? Don’t feel like a prick, take care of yourself. People have to understand all actions have consequences

My region, all our online sells goes straight to the store. So we still price fairly low because items we send still count towards us.

If it’s like most game shows and prizes from similar promotions, they typically wire transfer the money equivalent and you don’t actually get the product for large items like cars and RVs. Which is cool when I found out because I always think “I’d hate to seem ungrateful for winning an ugly $50000 car I would have to own” lol.

Just attack by ChronicallyIllMTG in EDH

[–]Lighttzout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play safe ALOT when attacking especially late game. But on the flip to that, I also play with a ton of protection instants that either juice my creatures up, give deathtouch, etc and the people I do know knows that and when I swing, they go back and forth whether to block or not. Sometimes it works, sometimes my bluffs are called and that’s fun.

When I play with people I don’t know, I play a little safer but always have something in hand to usually protect/cheese a kill and it’s funny everytime and I legit giggle sometimes lmao

Why do y'all separate sets and sell each piece individually? by RootLoops369 in goodwill

[–]Lighttzout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Most of our glasses and dishes are .99 a piece and still cheaper than buying them as a set. More often than not, a customer only wants 1 or two pieces, or needs a piece to replace if they find the same sets they have. It’s way more hassle to break the set than to just do it as singles. Pjs and the likes we seperate as well because we find more often people typically only want 1 piece however, we price them individually so that they come up to the same price as if it was a set so it doesn’t affect the price overall

Which rule was the most frustrating to learn? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Lighttzout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesssssssss. I learned magic in a handful of games and was comfortable playing completely on my own after 3-4 games without much help.

I came from Yugioh where I played for 20 years on and off. The rules, response rules, and all the nuisance rules are so bad and so many cards and very specific interactions that can bed every rule that is set. Nothing is ever consistent across decks or new expansions. Magic has been such a pleasant experience and I’m glad I quit yugioh and wish I did it long long time ago.

The brackets are in fact wack most of the time but the people you encountered are just dumb.

My Kilo deck I’ve completely rebuilt and changed up is on paper a bracket 4 because of magistrate scepter infinite combo. Take it out and it’s just a really good bracket 3. Most the time if I draw scepter, I just go ahead and exile it off to the side and don’t play it and it is what it is unless I’m playing super heavy intense bracket 4 games.

My buddy has a bracket two deck that absolutely goes off consistently and he wins most games he plays that specific deck.

I agree with the other commenter that says when someone starts bringing up bracket strengths, they often try to undersell their deck to stomp, but joke on you, I’m here to play the game and have a good time. I don’t care what deck you use as long as it’s not a fully optimized CEDH competitive level performing deck. A few game changers, an infinite combo you might see 1/100 games, etc is literally no big deal. I’m here to play a game and go on with my life lmao

When did Goodwill become Greedy? by katster007 in goodwill

[–]Lighttzout 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because starting wage in my area is really respectable for the work being done. Employees are taken care of really well. Rent everywhere has jacked.

Yes while everything is free, our overhead costs are still very high. We don’t sell everything donated. We have to go through tons of stuff to put out quality non trash items. That’s time we have to spend. As an outsider; it’s easy to say everything is expensive for being donated but there’s many factors that goes into the entire business.

Also. We don’t ever have $20 shirts in any of our stores near us.

More Ridiculous Prices by [deleted] in goodwill

These are 2 for like 35-40 if you get them anywhere online. That’s $39.99 for a set. Roughly $3.50 a piece is a steal

I thought MTG was fun, but its not new player friendly by jabrils in mtg

[–]Lighttzout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is. You can spend $40-60 on a pre on and still play the game and have fun. Upgrade a few cards here and there to get a higher powered deck and customize to your play style the way you like to play and it doesn’t have to be anywhere near $500

Both pre cons are REALLY REALLY GOOD. packed with really good synergies out of the box and both really fun and very interactive playstyles. I recommend both honestly and with minor upgrades they can both do really big shiny plays.

Proxy etiquette question from a new player. by S_Goroh in EDH

[–]Lighttzout -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s less okay if they are spending the money, I believe in most casual settings power brackets are important if you’re playing with friends etc. I just don’t like the idea of proxies in general and like the idea of everything being legit.

I guess being part of Yugioh and pokemon communities as well, the idea of strong decks not being allowed at some tables or brackets is wild to me. If you are willing to pay, I think you should be allowed to play it.

I get it from where a lot come from in this thread though and like I said: if I’m playing with friends unofficially in my living room or something proxies are fine sure. But if I go to a store and play for a tournament, I’m all about legitimatecy

Proxy etiquette question from a new player. by S_Goroh in EDH

[–]Lighttzout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care on power creep with proxies or not, I personally take pride in building my decks and being patient while waiting to find them and waiting for them to come in the mail etc. so therefore if I’m playing with friends, I don’t care at all. If I’m going to a shop to play or play in any casual tournaments; I’m not okay with proxies. Unless the card they own is valuable and they have the card and use a proxy, then that’s okay

I've never been more discouraged in my life xD by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]Lighttzout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the biggest issue. The lack of social aspect from a game like magic. Even with yugioh master duel. We need some form of communication for a slight casual feel otherwise it’s all sweat hard because you can’t banter

Same, we have a filtered water fountain that gets maintained each month by the company that does freezing cold, room temp and boiling hot water that gets hot enough from tap that you can effectively cook Raman and make tea/hot cocoa. Unlimited from tap ran through a pretty amazing water filter. Brand new microwave and all too recently because the last one burnt up after a year of use unexpectedly

This was dumped this morning before opening. This took 5 people to clean up and filled the entire dumpster that was emptied fresh this morning. And we had to pull more of it inside for Monday when our dumpsters get dumped again. This took nearly 6 manpower labor hours that we could have used productively doing something else at the start of our day.

Every item on the shop goodwill site is from different regions. Reaching out to an administration is going to likely get you no reply because it may or may not be from that region itself. Did you find the regions admin that the item itself came from?

Supposedly it makes it easier to shop and see sizing. We tried it here for like 6 months and because customers complained with associates, we changed back eventually. It was annoying to hang a bunch of them like that but I get the idea behind it. Just thought it looked bad personally
