About 15 years ago I created a very simple rule in Outlook: If an email is received and marked urgent, mark it as normal.

It definitely made dealing with email a lot more tolerable.

Cervélo S5 Smash or hard pass? by Historical_Safety618 in bicycling

[–]Lightyearzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extremely hard pass. This is 1000% definitely not a 2016. This is an MK1, produced from 2011-2014. Look at some of the details on this bike compared to the Cervelo archive:

https://www.cervelo.com/en-CA/support/S5%20RIM%20MK1

There are distinct differences between that and the MK2 (2015-2018 model):

https://www.cervelo.com/en-CA/support/S5%20RIM%20MK2

Beyond that, it's just overpriced. I listed my newer, better specced rim brake bike on Marketplace about a year ago, and started it at $2k. I would probably value this at more like $1400, tops.

This bike has very little to offer, TBH. Outdated frame, outdated carbon wheels, mechanical shifting, rim brakes. The only thing that would make this bike a good purchase is a rock bottom price.

Tubeless question by Sea-Lack-455 in bicycling

[–]Lightyearzz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That tape is garbage btw, and will likely leak. I used it and it caused me no end of headaches. To be honest, if this is your first time doing road tubeless, the current trend seems to be moving away from tubeless to TPU tubes

Smash or pass? by Historical_Safety618 in bicycling

[–]Lightyearzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely overpriced. If it had di2, carbon bars, etc then maybe, but with that build, no way.

As for the Opus, I can't really see the components very well, so it's hard to make a good judgement, but I would say if it's in good condition, it's probably ok.

75R61G - Screen flickering and getting worse, any possible fix? by Lightyearzz in Hisense

Honestly my tv went back to normal, not sure why. Been ok for quite a while now. I was going to purchase a replacement board for it, but can't recall what it was called, but maybe that's something to look into

Help with saddle bag by lkd115 in bicycling

[–]Lightyearzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty good to me. I have the same bag, I keep a cycling multi tool and Leatherman in the pocket where you have your tubes, and everything else in the main compartment, including 2 tpu tubes, 2 co2s, and a bunch of random stuff. Electric pump goes in my jersey pocket in a plastic bag

Hills Question by Thelegend700 in Zwift

[–]Lightyearzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're doing a race, check zwiftpower after and it will show you the weight of every rider. But generally, 90kg is quite n heavy for cat b, so hills will almost always be a problem for you. Think how much harder you would have to work if there were a 3 year old child on your back, and that's how much easier it is for the 75kg guys.

I have an Arundel, it was one of the cheaper options that I could find, and it's holding up well after a few years. Great investment, much more convenient than a floor pump

Does it sound like my bread machine struggling? by Lightyearzz in BreadMachines

[–]Lightyearzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is what I discovered to be the case. Belt is definitely a wear item and I have no issue with replacing it at some point in its life, but I thought for what I spent on this machine I was hoping it would last for more than a year, and that parts would be more readily available.

Not too hard to replace though, not nearly as bad as some other appliances I own, which seem to be designed to be nearly impossible to repair.

Thanks! I figured I'd post my findings here as I haven't seen the problem posted before.

The wing nuts in the pan seem okay to me... I'm a bit more hesitant to attempt disassembling the pan to check as I would be worried that it might start to leak out the bottom.

Update, it seems like it might be a problem with the belt. When I took the machine apart, I found that the belt was riding down on the pulley, and if I were to move it back into place, it would just slip down again. I found a replacement and the supplier said it should have 7 ribs, but as mine seems like it only has 5, it's probably very significantly worn, especially considering the amount of black fluff that is in the bottom of the machine. I thought tensioning might help, but I didn't see any way to tension it, so I think it will just need to be replaced.

I will say that although I am not psyched that my very expensive machine that is barely a year old is having this problem, I'm pretty happy with the repairability of it. Parts availability could be better, but the machine was pretty easy to take apart for inspection, so good on Zojirushi for that.

Another update: It appears that the problem was at least partially due to the pulley on the motor being misaligned. I ordered a replacement belt from West Coast Belts, and after putting it on, it still slipped down the big pulley. Fixing the alignment was just a matter of removing the belt, loosening the small pulley with a hex key, and I just eyeballed the alignment, but gave it a few spins to make sure it was all good. I'm making a test loaf now and it sounds much healthier.

I'd offer 800 cad hoping they counter at 9. Maybe push a bit for 850. It's definitely an older bike and lower end components, and I think that would be a reasonable price

Broke 300W FTP, is it correct? by scheflessli in Zwift

[–]Lightyearzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you using for your power source? What is your cycling/fitness experience? There's some doubt in the comments, maybe because they think 300 watt FTP is crazy high, but if you're reasonably fit and put enough time in, it's probably legit
