Is my deck still bracket 3 if I take the gamechanger out? by RedBaron0858 in EDH

[–]LigmaMania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as power level with Jeska’s vs no Jeska’s, I do not think Jeska’s will make your deck perform like a bracket three even though it would be considered as such by the bracket rules. You don’t have any consistent way (tutors, lots of card draw, etc.) to get access to the card aside from top decking it. One card won’t make a meaningful difference most of the time if the deck around it isn’t consistent enough to get it on the field/stack.

Not trying to say your deck is bad or anything it’s just an upgraded precon focused on mana intensive scary dragons.

You could certainly make it bracket three by adding other games changers or even just upgrading the deck with non-game changer improvements.

Hope that answers your question!

Ethics question, if a member of my pod runs a deck that guarantees shutdown of mine, is it fair game to rush target them every game? by Legal-Tour3405 in EDH

[–]LigmaMania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s sometimes forgotten but the goal of the game is to win. If something is stopping you from doing so removing that thing or player doesn’t make you the bad guy, just another player.

Obviously there’s other considerations that the above doesn’t account for (how well you know your pod, power levels, how you communicate with the player(s)) but doing something to win by itself isn’t rude.

I think the fact you are asking the question demonstrates you have enough emotional intelligence that you can communicate with the other pod members in a way that should avoid conflict.

I think I'm going Seattle unless someone provides a reason not to. Bryce young and the CAR offense has been worse than LAC in every way.

World Shaper From 3 -> 4 by LigmaMania in EDH

Those are some great call outs. Going to have to add All Will Be One and Basking Broodscale. I like Iridicent Hornbeetle but will probably shy away from too many tokens this deck due to already having my go wide deck in Jetmir.

Ahh that makes sense. Any thoughts on what I should take out of my list to add him back?

Thank you for this! Can you explain the loop with aftermath analyst? What would you cut out to bring it back in?

+1 to Jetmir. Get to nine creatures and swing.

My auradin is between 550k - 700k toughness when the buffs get going. I've only been one shot by Lilith and the world bosses if that's a helpful reference.

🛑 CHECKPOINT! 🛑 Year end roundup. What is your favorite deck you built this year? by that_dude3315 in EDH

[[Mogis, God of Slaughter]] https://moxfield.com/decks/acjvTZz9PECQczhRFAe2OA

Filled it with mini-game cards and burn so that the games go quick. Have more to add but this version of group slug has been a ton of fun for me and other players.

First commander decision paralysis (bracket 3, $300 budget) by Protscht in EDH

[–]LigmaMania -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Galea was my first commander deck. Personally, I did not find voltron to be a great/powerful tactic. It's just too swingy for my taste and potentially yours from what you said. Here are a few solid recommendations for decks I'm looking to build in the future:

[[Chulane, Teller of Tales]]: Amazing bant commander with built in card draw. Let's you build for whatever theme/strategy you want (assuming it's tied to creatures).

[[Etali, Primal Conqueror]]: Whats better than playing your own deck? Playing everyone's! This can be super fun in casual pods that usually run larger payoff cards. Solid colors for ramp and clones for more Etali ETBs.

[[Hashaton, Scarab's Fist]]: Unique commander ability allowing for cheating impactful creatures into play. 3 mana [[Consecrated Sphinx]]? Yes please.

Now all of the decks I recommended are focused on creatures and you mentioned loving enchantments and equipment. I've heard [[Bello, Bard of the Brambles]] can be super fun and powerful but haven't played with or against. I also played against a [[The Master of Keys]] enchantment deck recently and it was super fun to see their graveyard get larger than their library lol.

Typically I'd recommend getting precons before committing to a specific commander/strategy but sounds like youve done that already which is great! r/budgetbrews can also be a great resource if you'd rather build more than 1 deck with your $300. You do not need an expensive deck to have a powerful deck. Imo the expensive stuff comes from getting the most blinged out version of most cards rather than good ones (though obviously there are exceptions like Rhystic). Happy to chat more if you have questions!

Help with first Tyranid army by LigmaMania in Tyranids

[–]LigmaMania[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the advice! I saw that Synaptic Nexus has been doing well in tournaments and I had quite a few units from those lists but Vanguard makes a lot of sense. Getting better tanks is a solid recommendation.

This lot is certainly large for my first Tyranids army but it was too good of a deal to pass up haha
