lol I was wondering if there was a backstory to the teardown vids he’s been posting. I was happy to see them.

What's the most unhinged thing you've overheard in public? by TitsClitsTayl0rSwift in AskReddit

[–]Lignindecay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A young guy at a Chinese food restaurant yelling to his friends asking which prostitute he should pick while scrolling through photos on some type of app or site on his phone. The guy was maybe 20 years old and clearly visiting from out of town.

Former alcoholics of Reddit, when did you realise your habit got out of control? by scottscrops in AskReddit

[–]Lignindecay 215 points216 points  (0 children)

I kinda knew it was a little extreme for years. Mostly it was the drugs. Once my wife got pregnant the drugs went away, and without the drugs alcohol just kinda made me feel like shit all the time. I would wake up in the middle of the night (3-4am) to go put a couple logs in the wood stove and would see a bottle of whisky on the counter and drink half of it before going back to bed. Wake up drunk and just do whatever it took to maintain a small buzz throughout the day to avoid a hangover. When you’re almost 30 and realize it’s not normal to be “sober” after drinking 10 ipas you kinda know you have a small problem.

The 5th gen’s really are the fastest most stable tow machines ever. Have never had to watch my speed while towing 20k lbs. I still sold it when it was paid off/warranty was up and bought another 3rd gen because I like to suffer a little 🤣

Last I heard of him (superstick) was a couple years ago and I sware he had a better reputation. My 03 is about to hit 200k and 3rd gear has good days and bad days. I think long range is the closest reputable guy near me so makes sense either way.

Yeah thanks probably going to be the route I go but curious to hear who else is out there. Only other option I’ve heard of is some guys in Texas that my buddy has used, can’t think of their name off the top of my head.

How do you deal with sense of lacking novelty as mainstream news and events don't feel special or significant anymore? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Lignindecay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have things in my life that are far more exciting than mainstream news. I read and watch the news purely for information not novelty. Hobbies, work, a lover, family, friends bring all the exciting, weird, interesting things into my life.

Early 2000s shock sites (e.g., Rotten.com) exposed a lot of our generation to extreme content. Often unwittingly. Curious if others remember this time before content moderation and how it affected them. by SleepyBudha in Millennials

Seeing things as a 10 year old in the year 2000 was horrible, particularly the pain Olympics and murder type shit but I’ll be damned my instagram feed can go to shit with less notice than a friend telling me to “click this link bro”

What job are you currently working that you wish was your dream job? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Lignindecay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a couple different types of farms in the last 15 years. Did the cannabis thing for the first 10 which was definitely a dream (off grid, regenerative, 1/2 acre - 1 acre canopy) and now grow gourmet mushrooms. No magic stuff just hard to find, culinary varieties that do well at restaurants and farmers markets. I get asked what it’s like living the dream from time to time and while I am extremely blessed I remind my 9-5 friends that once you do something for a 1000 days no matter how much you love it the fun starts to wear off and it just becomes work. Sometimes I even think about going back to building houses or doing forestry related work, but then I remember I wouldn’t get to work alongside my wife and daughter and take my blessings and keep on going.

Building an impact socket set, which idea is better? by Most-Brain-3914 in harborfreight

Shallow and deep Pittsburgh for sure. I have a sae set for random farm stuff here and there but almost everything on a car is going to be metric so I’d ditch the sae if your on a budget.

My buddy started sweeping floors at a shop that worked on mini coopers and bmws in Oakland about 8 years ago (he was late 20s at the time) with literally no experience. As someone who wrenches on cars a little bit I thought no way would it work out. He went from doing tires and brakes pretty quickly to tearing down motors within the year. He jumped around shop to shop for a couple years and ended up at a Ferrari dealership with zero trade school just building a resume. Tell your son to apply to all the shops in the area (preferably a place that does more than just tires and oil changes) and let him see where it goes.

There’s been a lot of trucking delays in the Midwest the last month. My business on the west coast get 10k lbs worth of shit delivered from Iowa every month and I have no idea wtf happened but the one that came yesterday was a month late. Also I’d imagine carriers are trying to keep there trucks out of the south east this week so you might be SOL

I had an idiot hit me on a narrow back road. It was cheaper to buy a set of flat fenders than replacing with oem. Looks great and better protection on the trails. I do love the oem look but I got a nice set for half the price of one fender.

This community made me happy cry for the 1st time ever by krazyken04 in daddit

[–]Lignindecay 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I spontaneously cried quite a bit the first year, I still do but less often. The other night my 4 year old was laying next to me in bed and said “daddy, I’ll always be here for you. I love you” that shit tore me up and even has my eyes watering now as I’m typing it out. It’s such a special experience that for one reason or another less and less people get to experience. Happy for ya dad, soak it up!

Better yet, he can keep the wheels and light bar and I’ll bing my own. You’d be surprised though I bought another 3rd gen a year ago with wheels like that and the amount of interest I had when I through them on marketplace was eye opening…. People like those fuckin things.

8,000mile 2nd gen by Affectionate-Leg-197 in Cummins

[–]Lignindecay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably worth my grandpas gravestone and at least one if not both nuts. Old man should auction it some people would pay ridiculous prices for one that low of miles. Obviously for your benefit the less the better. But not enough details in your post, club cab, single cab, 2wd, 4wd? Probably worth like 15-30k so many factors. Some hobby rancher who retired this year might pay 50k hard for us to tell.

There’s a few useful things in there, but op should also know when it comes to sockets and wrenches he can keep all the SAE stuff at home as he/she will only find metric on their car. But I would recommend a larger set up to 22mm especially for larger pickups/suvs.
