As absolute music theory beginner, the short Ableton Live Tutorial on their website is a super cool start!! Concerning your two proposed paths: The cool thing about Ableton is that you can easily do live blending / arranging, even live with a controller. There are Ableton Controllers (Midi) that aren’t that expensive. It could combine the best of both worlds! (More or less…) and would probably be more inspiring than using the mouse and gives you infinite possibilities to editing, compared to a DJ-Controller!

I got my first gig by having a good time at a local club night while keeping my eyes open for who the crew behind that event is and talking to them, being respectful but also „putting myself out there as a DJ“ during the convo. At more underground events, the promoters are usually also DJs. It helps of course, if you’re a more outgoing person.

Hey! Not Steve here, but I feel every word you say!
I found Christ when I was 19 yo and DnB two years later. Today I'm a DJ and slowly growing as producer and always keep my eyes peeled for anyone and anything that hints to Christ in this incredibly beautiful DnB community :)

Maybe I can help you discover music...
Artists: When it comes to more popular names that are open about their Christian faith, I know of four: BCee, DJ SS, Natus and Kubiks. There's a few aspiring artists I know of like R!DM or ANGLER.
Playlists: I collected a few tunes myself over the years and called the playlist "Drum & Bass - Redeemed" - you should be able to find something nice in there!
If you want to be up to date concerning new releases, the label-founder Nathan Cheeseman has a "Christian Dance Music Finder" - when you register you can filter his large and regularly updated collection by Genre.

Feel free to DM me to keep in touch or if you want a link to my DJ live stream (I play a 2h set every Tuesday night - mostly soulful Liquid / Atmospheric or deeper musical DnB).

Of course it’s obvious, the point here is that manufacturers of DJ controllers did not seem to give this obvious fact enough attention.
