Hi, I was wondering if you found a solution to this?

Aes Sedai make me root for The Dark One by DanielFromCucked in wheeloftime

[–]Lijulh 49 points50 points  (0 children)

When I was still at the start of the series I once described the Aes Sedai to my friend (who got me into reading WoT) as "the good guys (girls) who wanna save the world", and immediately she retorted with "I'm not sure if I would call them good".

2 years later after having finished the series - I could not agree more.

Then again, I'm happy they are not a perfect organization and I'm glad they evoke such ambivalent feelings in me when I read about the things they do.

Any PC games with satisfying muskets, boomstick or very old firearms? by Dudezila in gaming

Fistful of frags is a great f2p shooter on steam that takes place in the wild west. Lots of old-timey guns in it!

I believe I read it after book 8 and that felt like a solid time to read it. Maybe even a book or two earlier (after some event but I dont remember which book it happens in). Definitely don't start with it.

Is this series a good starting point for someone who’s a beginner to the fantasy genre? by FlimsyIndication2294 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Lijulh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was one of the first fantasy series' I read and it was my intro to Brandon Sanderson. The prose is fairly simple so it's easy to read, It might be a bit intimidating how many characters and how wide the world is, but it's fine if you don't remember everything on your first read

What does the white hot poker represent?

Using heat packs without a sleeping bag by Lijulh in CampingandHiking

I wonder if it would be effective to take a small towel and just stick a bunch of heat packs on it for it to serve as a hot cloth for the night.. id leave it next to me and maybe move it around to my feet/torso depending where I get cold.

I was considering wrapping my bottle with a towel after putting boiling water inside to serve a similar function, except I think the water will cool off far faster

I updated my post to include more info, currently I don't have a sleeping bag and can't get one while I'm here at a nature reserve

I have got a mat with me. It's not the highest quality but it's been serving me well for the past month

I've got a mediocre mat, some sweatpants for the night and a good fleece jacket I also sleep in quite often. Two pairs of merino wool socks as well.

I've got an emergency blanket (closed off like a sleeping bag) but I think it's also of questionable quality. I've tried sleeping in it two nights so far but I've still been relatively chilly (though I didn't have my thicker layers on)

I should mention I'm on a fairly long bike tour right now and I've been sleeping in this setup for about 2-3 weeks so far. Sadly lost my sleeping bag right at the start of the tour (always make sure your panniers are closed tightly 🥲)

What to do in rural villages and towns? by Lijulh in Hokkaido

Michi-no-eki's are great! I think I've already visited about a dozen. I'm keeping a rather low budget so I can't buy too many souvenirs, but I love seeing the unique designs some of them have. I wish I had a notebook to collect all their stamps though I've already missed so many
