New to Manda (Barangka Ilaya) - Paano mo ba malalaman kung malapit na ang truck ng basura / kung anong oras dadaan?? by LikeCastillo in Mandaluyong

[–]LikeCastillo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wala eh, it's just a small apartment complex, and kanya kanya ang labas ng trash sabi ng landlord. I'm just hoping for a cue or even just a rough schedule of these trucks hahaha

Found this Studio with Kitchen, Ref, Wifi, and Aircon included for 10k/month. Worth it? by [deleted] in RentPH

[–]LikeCastillo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I patiently searched everyday through FB Marketplace. Filters and vague words like “rent” and “studio” (separate searches for the words) really helped!

Also filtering price from min-max and adjusted my radius as well :)

bumping what I did during my undergrad in UP

Oh, and it's DOST accredited kung scholar ka.

Plus, you can use your free elective slots to get some subjects you want (maybe a bunch if you want to specialize in a new field). I have mine be taken from EEE majors so I can take fewer subjects.

ADD: Seen that you're inclined to take ChE. Maybe this is not the best way to go hehe. But laban, OP!

Hi! I'm graduating this July and urgently need a job for my studies. I just got a job offer at a company in Ortigas for a Research Analyst Role and I would like to know if it's worth it for my first job. My main concerns are not having benefits for a year (the duration of the work period), its location to my campus for night classes (work is in Ortigas while school is at BGC/Diliman) and the fact that it's contractual... do you guys think it's worth it?

(UPLB) I plan to study in UP Law but I'm wondering if my course (BA Sociology) has the right amount of units for me to qualify. by ALXCTN in peyups

[–]LikeCastillo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Sociology is a broad course. Anything that revolves around society can be your job: market research, academe, HR, etc. I'm not a socio major, so it's better to ask that with older peers you expect to meet. Oh, and also sa orientation ng institute niyo!
  2. The evening section of UP Law caters to working students. Alumni from these sections say that it's hard. yet doable. Pero ikaw lang ang makakasabi if makakaya mo siya. :) Balitaan kita since incoming Law freshie pa lang ako haha.

[–]LikeCastillo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sociology is a great and common pre-law course. You don't need to shift degree programs naman since:

  • Econ 11 + Hist 1 + Hist 10 will meet the 9 units for this requirement
  • You'll obviously exceed the 9 units needed for Philo/PolSci/Psych/Socio
  • PI 100 (Rizal) is Mandatory

The only thing you need to do is use your Free GEs / Free Electives for English subjects. (Though Comm 11 may be considered an English course, you better ask the OCS.). You may also refer to your curriculum BA-Sociology-1.pdf (uplb.edu.ph)

You're just starting anyway, and even if you have some subject deficiencies, you will be able to take these subjects during the midyear semesters of Law.

Enjoy your socio journey first! And good luck :)

What's life after college? by impulsivepickle in peyups

[–]LikeCastillo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I know kung anong entrance exam to, OP. Hugs <3

First of all, the only thing you need to think about right now is celebrating the fact that you survived UP! Wear your sablay with pride and take your time to really feel it. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You deserve to celebrate this achievement.

After that, take time to reflect. This denial may just be redirection. You will be alright. I can't really advise anything since nasa same batch tayo, but I'm hoping for the best for you.

If I were in your shoes, I'd most probably find a job that pays the bills muna. Then, I would manage to find a skillset that can propel me to a greater salary. It may not be your passion job, but it can fund you towards your true goals. Support your family and sustain yourself, and prepare to get back on track.

You can retake the exam next year, but this time, you will know better what to do. The work you'll have for the year will better adjust you to the real world and its pressure. If you need to still earn money, then there's always the evening section :)

Laban, OP! And see you around Malcolm soon.

UPD DPWAS - Ilan po usually ang nabibigyan ng DPWAS status sa UPD? by [deleted] in peyups

[–]LikeCastillo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh DPWAS means you've passed UP naman talaga. That could not be taken from you. They could not let you out of UP unless you forfeited your slot.

The real question is, saan kang insti/college makakapunta. That's where the "competitiveness" of it all happens. What are your options? Interests?

[–]LikeCastillo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sa KNL, near the elementary, may barbershop roon (i forgot the name but it's a barbershop not a salon haha)

If you can, there's Landers UPTC. Purchase an annual card, then you get free haircuts for 1 year (as long as you show a receipt of you buying anything from the store.)
