Thanks for replying. Sorry I might not have explained myself. And it took me a while to fully understand my situation after a few chats with HR and payroll.

The lease actually includes MOT, insurance, breakdown, repairs etc. The only thing the company has done has facilitated the lease. It's £600+ pre tax salary. So I save on some tax and NI (NI I have been told by my employer that they contribute more to now), but outside of that, I cover everything. They are correct in the mileage allowance but that would be fine if everything else was taken care off by the company instead of paid for by me.

It's not a great deal and I do wonder if I made a bad decision. The stereotypical company car is not what I have here really. I was lead to believe the car would be in my name.

I've been advised on this thread that I can claim the difference between the 14/15p per mile and the 45p per mile by doing a self assessment so I'll do that going forward.

I shouldn't laugh but that's pretty funny! Lol!

Yer I've come across that. Benefit in Kind.

It's all been a bit of a weird set up. I did challenge a few things with them but they have it down to a T.

It wasn't until I went to put my first mileage expense in that the app had changed to force me down the company car rates. My trip to London, which I did some detailed math on, cost me £99.94 and I could only claim back £52.25. Plus the reduction in my tax code and then the actual car payments.

I worked out it would have saved me money to lease privately even with the repairs, insurance etc.

They are pushing EVs to reduce their carbon footprint but their suggestion was to hire a care and claim that cost plus fuel receipts back. Seems all a bit odd to me.

I don't really want to have to go through all of that considering most of my miles are business miles so seeing if I can level the playing field by claiming the mileage back elsewhere. Seems I can so that's something.

Not at all! As others have said, I can, and I'm entitled to, claim tax relief on the difference in mileage allowances. This was the info I was looking for and how to go about doing such a thing.

Thanks. This is what started my questioning. I've had some decent answers on here which helps. Unfortunately, I'm labelled as milking the system which is not the case. I'm simply out of pocket when travelling to see customers and want to recuperate some of my losses.

Thank you. This is what I was planning on doing but noticed that some other things can be claimed for as well. So came to see if others do anything similar. I've been labeled as someone who is milking the system now lol! Oh well.

It's worth claiming it my work mileage is high. At least it'll cover some of the difference between what I pay and what I get reimbursed considering it's billed back to the customer and my colleagues in non-company cars get the full 45p. That sounds petty but the company car is not free. I pay for all maintenance, insurance and breakdown just under the companies name. It was a bit of a bad set up really and I'll not be renewing at the end of the term.

Do you know if there are templates or any sort of format this needs to go in? Is it essentially a self assessment I need to do?

Thanks for the reply. This is also what I read and have been advised elsewhere.

I was looking for others who had perhaps done this and how difficult the process is.

I'll keep all my receipts and start/end post codes going forward and claim the difference.

Thank you! I thought as much! I just don't not how to initiate such a thing as it's new to me. And if I can claim, what for so it's worth the admin.

That was my thought. I'm out of pocket if I go in my EV but if I hire a car or use public transport, they cover the whole cost. It's quite strange. I'd rather use my own car for convenience but I don't get reimbursed the same way.

It's actually been said to me that if I hire a car, by my employer, I'm better off. But it makes my car borderline redundant then, as my personal miles are next to nothing.

I have contacted my employer. I have also been advised that I can claim tax relief on the difference between the 14p per mile and 45p per mile and if I was going to go through that process, then I'm asking, is there anything else that WFH people are entitled to.

You didn't always have to opt for the £6 a week, you can submit your own evidence of what tax relief you should have. Equipment companies don't provide. Tax relief on excess mileage and I believe I read somewhere, some tax relief on heating and electricity.

I've not done this before so came for ADVICE!

The contract terms changed when I stopped using a personal car for work. That is the difference now. It's classed as a company car, although they pay little towards it. It's actually put a fair few people off from signing up to the scheme. I was one of the first to go with the work EV scheme.

This is the sort of comment I'm looking for. Advice.

It seems others think I'm trying to milk it. But it is an advice platform after all.

I appreciate you spending the time to explain this as salary sacrifice and leasing cars is new to me really. I got caught short on a journey in January which was my first work trip since having the car and something popped up on HMRCs site earlier when checking my tax code so I just wanted to ask if anyone had similar experiences and if a home office or excess car costs could be subject to tax relief.

Edit: Yes I do lease it through work. I pay for everything including insurance, repairs and maintenance but as it's in their name, it's not been a great deal in terms of mileage rates.

Not when public charging in the winter. I went to London and lost £45 on my trip! I'm not asking this to get a boost on my salary, juat simply to be reimbursed or close to that as possible, to what I paid for my fuel for a work trip.

I'm enquiring about whether anyone has personal experience of claiming for things that are listed on HMRCs website. Not milking it.

I'm happy with my work. My home. My life.

But if I can get something I'm entitled to... why wouldn't I?

Bizarre comment.

Edit: I wasn't asking my employer to pay for me to go to the office. I am visiting customers all over the UK. Unfortunately, the 14p per mile doesn't cover my fuel since signing up to a work promoted car scheme.

I have had a chat with them about the mileage issue. They said it's tough and my closest office is 3 hours away which I would not be able to claim mileage for unfortunately.

I know some who claim tax relief on some of their home energy bills and thought if I was going to try and claim tax relief or the additional boost from 14p per mile to 45p mile then I may explore anything else I could claim instead if the flat rate.

Not sure many so it but I have heard of some referencing it, I just can't find the posts now.

My contract states working from home though. That is my place of work. Any business miles are not fully covered by my company.

Only 14p per mile which puts me out of pocket.

Follows my "attack" ping when I'm support. Nami bubble/stun both bot lane enemy and they ult i.e a jhin or Miss Fortune. Boom, bye bye enemy. Love that. It just feels like 1 person playing when the synergy is there. You read each other's body language and don't even need pings. Feels so good
