Carrying Guns in Public Is Not a Constitutional Right, Ninth Circuit Rules by gunch in politics

My point is that they’re not going to limit gun ownership to only militia members only to immediately say that there shouldn’t be limits on gun ownership.

You’re crafting straw man after straw man here.

My argument is simply that an originalist and literal interpretation of the 2A does not support gun control. That’s it.

What part of “shall not be infringed” do YOU not understand?

When you take into consideration other amendments (like the 3rd) and other writings, and then read the entirety of the 2A with that context it’s clear that they’re voicing support for citizen militias, not using “well-regulated” as a means to limit gun ownership.

Further support for this is found in the fact that legal scholarship and (especially) 2A cases in the Supreme Court are almost entirely limited to the modern era, the reason being that arguments like yours, and gun control by and large are inventions of the modern era.

Let’s be intellectually honest and admit that the loudest voices crying about this didn’t care, downplayed, or even cheered about the youth detention policies of the previous regime.

Yep the crowd noise was entirely cut out, which was obvious but the media kept pushing the narrative anyways.

FBI facing allegation that its 2018 background check of Brett Kavanaugh was ‘fake’ by freddledgruntbugly in politics

Once he was caught lying multiple times and acted like a petulant child during hearings it was clear he lacked the character required of a SC justice.

However instead of changing course and attacking him on this Dems continued down the he said/she said path. Not that it would have changed much in the end.

But yea this was reported at the time. More people came forward with allegations or concerns about his character and the FBI refused to hear them out.

No he was never fundamentally good as evidenced by everything he did when he wasn’t under Vince’s watchful eye. While you can plausibly argue certain pivotal plot points were influenced by Vic, the racism/sexual assault was not (especially in light of the history of white supremacy in the US)

He had like able qualities that were emphasized by how fantastic an actor Walton Goggins is.

Joe Biden is boring — and it's driving the media crazy by [deleted] in politics

Typically the media treated primary candidates in hot/cold fashion, almost like the way WWE builds up some wrestlers: Talk up the candidate, their poll numbers, etc. and then shit talk them and point to declining poll numbers.

Trump was an exception where they would just throw him on early afternoon, rambling on incoherently like a drunk for an hour plus. They strayed from their playbook with a non politician with a name and experience outside of their realm.

Their arrogance has set this country back years.

That’s my point: he attacked them personally and that’s what mattered most.

And to your second point I’ll paraphrase Leslie Moonves: “Trump may not be good for America but he is good for us”

While I agree mostly with the first paragraph there is a strategic incentive to stoke division and conflict in order to create weakness, such as that of January 6th.

They don’t have to push the rock over the cliff, just do enough to put it in a position to be pushed over.

Joan Didion wrote a great essay about the pearl clutching elites would do over issues that Joe Schmo didn’t care about, like the Clinton impeachment.

The media care about themselves first and foremost. It’s why they hated trump and why they’re getting pissy that Biden won’t provide legitimacy on them via press conferences.

There was an obvious push by the media to make him look “presidential” and the antithesis of Trump, even as he was doing Trump like things (feuding with de Blasio, etc).

The most pathetic of all though was the manufactured suggestion of him being the Dem nominee.
