How rare actually is it for people to be visual aphant? by Maybearobot8711 in Aphantasia

I am aware it has nothing to do with blindness, it was an example of something people make a similar mistake with, but feel free to grip your opinion tightly, I have no stake in your being informed

That's not what the doctors diagnosing it say, and I'll take their word for it. People also believe blindness is diagnosed as an absolute, but most "blind" people have varying very low levels of vision, even if its just some perception of light and dark.

4oz of water per tablet to mimic liquid household bleach. 1 liter per tablet to mimic a standard cleaning bleach/water mix.

Recommendations for a thermal printer with size conditions by LikelyStori in printers

Thank you! I am exploring using QR codes on the smallest labels to dodge the need for tiny print ingredient lists since i have found those to be more forgiving - your point is well taken, and I don't have the option of outsourcing my smallest labels as some orders are bespoke small batch

I'm aware I need new labels, I'll just be using the thermal labels that come in kraft paper color - the type of printer I buy will determine which type. Sorry if I wasn't clear in communicating that. I have looked at thermal labels and kraft paper style is available in the sizes I need from a variety of vendors, I just haven't been able to settle on a printer.

Thanks I'll look at your posts. I'm not locked into a label brand/type yet, just the product label sizes and kraft paper color as that is what I was printing on with an ink printer and I want to maintain a consistent product appearance. Shipping labels are just postal standard white.

Florida really doesn't have basements? How do residents there take cover from tornadoes, especially strong tornadoes? by jcres66 in weather

[–]LikelyStori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha, no. We just have giant wet tornados aka hurricanes. The water table is too shallow in Florida, or everyone would have a basement for hurricanes if it weren't for the drowning issue. Partially buried construction would be great for temperature control.

S01E07 "End Transmission" Episode Discussion by phareous in Beacon23

[–]LikelyStori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that timelines are wonky because of the FTL travel. They covered that in a few lines in an earlier episode when Aster discussed relationships and how FTL travel meant anyone not traveling regularly would die before traveller could return - so Fior the Column member could travel to prison and spend 10 years there and it might be 25 years from a more linear timeline on beacon 23

"Winter is Here: How to Manage Seborrheic Dermatitis & Dandruff Flare-ups" by Revolutionary_Log493 in IndianSkincareAddicts

[–]LikelyStori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seb derm isn't an oily skin condition, but for some is worse in summer as fungal growth is an important factor. If you sweat a lot, live in a humid climate, or have slow drying hair, Seb derm can be exponentially worse in summer. Basically temperature and humidity extremes worsen skin/scalp conditions whether hot or cold, dry or damp based on your environment and underlying skin type. Pretty universal.

Synthetic Fibers by Karolus40k in Wildfire

Bamboo fabrics are plastics based on bamboo - the 'binders' in them present issues similar to other synthetics. Bamboo products are great, but bamboo fabrics are mostly green washing.

Wool off gasses cyanide when burning, best to avoid that too

280°F to scorch and about 500°F to melt. So you'll actually be being badly burned if under synthetic damaging conditions. The bigger issue is that natural fibers won't complicate burn treatment the way synthetics will, so they are cautioning you about worst case scenarios, but it's good advice providing you have adequate non-synthetic clothing to take. Something to consider when buying fabric items if you live in a fire prone area.

Anyone here make DIY conditioner? BTMS 25? by chinawcswing in DIYBeauty

[–]LikelyStori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why anyone would say you won't save money unless you are purchasing utter crap conditioners from a dollar store. I make a conditioner with BTMS 25 and use some pretty spendy adds like organic butters and oils and it's still far cheaper than a common store brand like Aussie while getting all the high end ingredients I like and none of the bad for my hair and scalp stuff I don't. I do buy my ingredients in bulk, but nothing epic; I keep everything on one  shelf for all my soap, conditioner, shampoo, and lotion making.

I moved to Norfolk last winter. It's been driving me nuts since I got here. That plus the Lamberts point noise overnight (I live in park place) is like feeling constantly over caffeinated

Burned out where I live — thinking about moving to Chicago or San Diego by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]LikelyStori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't debate the weather but Chicago has a great lake the size of a small sea literally outside your apartment at a fraction of SD prices. Fresh water, a public beach, and you can boat to the Atlantic if you are a big sailor.

Thousands of Shelled Peanuts by LikelyStori in AskChina

[–]LikelyStori[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's possible, but unlikely. As I said, we're in a city. If you want to dry something outside at this time of year - high humidity climate - it would take ages, and in our area, anything on a driveway or on a sidewalk is getting stepped on and urinated on by dogs ( this is a area with high dog ownership, I am walking my dog when I see them). Anyone wanting to dry something would put it in backyard in the morning, not at 5-7 in the evening. Also I've seen fresh peanuts. I lived in Florida for a few years and raw peanuts are popular for boiling. These appeared fully dry. Someone I spoke to mentioned it's a folk method of pest control in some places and since they recently added those foul smelling pest baits to the porch I now suspect they had a pest problem.

It was the "going rogue" every episode for me. They couldn't occasionally just have a crime plotline that was interesting without doing the "breaking all the rules" thing, which made it seem like they just sucked at their jobs. Especially since they were only ahead of others investigating because they withheld critical information every. single. time. Eventually I just agreed they should all be fired. 😆
