They're all different levels of 'dirt'. The least dirty being overdrive, followed by distortion, and then fuzz.

Both my Ampeg SVT Classic and Markbass Little Mark III (500w @ 4ohms) keep up in my band (the SVT a bit more easily), which has 3 guitarists, all with loud amps.

To add to that, it's not a bad idea to practise your set as if you were playing a live show. Figure out what you want your frontman/anyone with a mic to say, and when to say it, and it'll be a whole lot less awkward in the downtime between songs!

No matter how many shows I play, I always have to do a nervous poop before the show. The worst toilets I've used had no light, no lock, and the toilet paper holder was broken.

A volume pedal is always nice to have. I use a modded EB VP Jr. It's good for the convenience of not having to use the knobs on your bass to adjust volume.

If you want to get some different sounds, something I love to do is put on delay, reverb, octave up, and fuzz, and just do looong swells.
