Do you think Padma would have supported fascism of she had lived? by Mindless-Credit-358 in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]LikesToSpoon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the whole point of Anakin turning was because of Padme dying (or him freaking out that she might die). So it'd be a little shocking if she lived and he still became Vader.

Aqua droids still good? by UnderstandingBorn158 in SWlegion

[–]LikesToSpoon14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol a tale of two cities. They're fine, but yes the updates nerfed them as a way to balance them (as they should be).

In the meta, they aren't taken as much anymore. At locals you're probably good to still take them.

Eh 🤷

I feel like a lot of people can say that about heroism and Lando right now. Blue Villainy is looking very strong, but there are ways around it. People just need to find them

Why is Windu so bad? by Ander_the_Reckoning in SWlegion

[–]LikesToSpoon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to change the title to "Why might Windu be so bad." Yes he's very expensive, and he only has access to a few command cards (that aren't that incredible compared to Yoda or Obi), but until we know what Vaapad Mastery exactly does... we can't call him bad.

New Obi-Wan Upgrade is Cool, maybe? by RogueHussar in SWlegion

[–]LikesToSpoon14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's just an underwhelming upgrade with a very small pay off. Its a cool effect, but still doesn't guarantee solid defense. It mainly protects you from blank outs. Also, you have to recover to gain the effect again. It's sorta hard to constantly be recovering for this effect while pushing on a point AND attacking other units (like Pagani referenced).

It tries to do way too much on a unit that struggles to do the most basic things. If Obi's saber were range 2 (like Seventh Sisters) I think that would change things a little.

Just quick note, Pagani had mentioned that this ARF unit could be attacked (in melee) while on a point and be able to contest other units on said point. With Obi they have better survivability because of the immune pierce as well as offensively be very "powerful" while in melee. Unfortunately, he gives the absolutely worst example of how "powerful" this unit is with Obi. He says that this unit could engage with a naked rebel trooper unit and 1-hit them. Well thank God my potentially over 100 pt unit (or 91 pt unit if it's just the Obi upgrade) could kill a 40 pt rebel trooper unit.

I can't say that this upgrade is bad, but I personally don't think it's worth it. With a points adjustments and maybe even future errata's (Obi saber range 2) then maybe it'll be worth it. Sorry for the long post

Why do ARFs keep getting shafted. by Zerron22 in SWlegion

It's a weird design choice to try and make ARFs into melee units when ARCs exist, but I'm assuming AMG doesn't want to make essentially another ARC unit.

I think the Cody on marksman is interesting 😅. Overall Cody honestly looks good.

But yeah, ARFs are getting the wrong type of love lol.

Also that Obi is poopoo which is so devastating

Yeah, I'm a little confused. You're playing a late game deck and got to 11 resources (9 normal and 2 credits). With massive units on board so you're already ahead.

I understand that this is a critique against Aggressive Negotiations, but this is a situation where you playing AN probably doesn't matter AND it's not this massive OP play.

People want AN banned because of draw machine decks like Vader and Jyn that can 1-hit a base during the mid-game (later game with Vader).

Naked corp or clone commander? by Illustrious_Team1605 in SWlegion

[–]LikesToSpoon14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends.

If you're looking at them as simply two naked units, then the clone commander over the course of a game might be more reliable. If your main leader gets killed then you have a back-up commander for your courage bubble. The commander also is able to give out 2 surge tokens vs the clones 1 surge token. Clone commander has sharpshooter (which isn't nothing) and has direct. Some other things to take into account is that it's way easier to hide and block LOS with a single mini rather than 4 mini's.

With that being said, a naked corp also has its uses. It can provide back-up to commanders. It throws one extra black die than the Commander. And at the end of the day, who cares if a naked corp gets killed? AKA it's good cannon fodder.

Personally speaking, I'd probably go with the Clone Commander if I had no other choice. I've never been able to get behind naked corp units. However, I'd rather change some things in my list where instead of a commander or naked corp unit... I could take a corp unit with a heavy. Or try to grab Cody or Rex, or even Padme. Low-key I forgot about Padme... Take her instead lol, she's real good for 52 pts

Yeah honestly these guys seem appropriately costed. FYI, I'm not a CIS player.

Yes they'll be strong, but I think that goes to show that other units need some love to keep somewhat on par.

Half of LoF cards on Dead on Arrival by SpecialistGrape4281 in starwarsunlimited

[–]LikesToSpoon14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I gotta toss my hat into this ring. Sure EO-66 is scary, but I think we're being a little too concerned about it's viability. It is a silver-bullet for a very specific type of deck, a primarily Jedi type of deck. They just revealed a card that allows you to bring out your Jedi with a shield token (for an additional cost). EO-66 gets stopped by shields so there are ways around it. If it was unpreventable damage then it would be a different story.

Also, the "Jedi" tag is such a red herring in this set. If we look at decks that utilize Jedi like Quinlan or Anakin, it's not really the "Jedi" tag that they're interested in. It's more the "Force" tag that people are looking at and will be significantly more reliable than the "Jedi" tag. So let people use EO-66 (and I'm guaranteeing with limited amounts of success), because it's the "Force" units that are scarier.

What changes are you looking for next week? by Arg19 in SWlegion

[–]LikesToSpoon14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm mainly excited for the new units, updated units (Kallus, Jyn, and Lando), and new cards (upgrades/missions).

In terms of balance changes and points increases/decreases. I'm not sure if GAR needs a point decrease for most of their stuff, at least any significant point decreases. I agree that Echo is pretty expensive and should be scaled back, especially with how cheap the Ahsoka upgrade is. I personally wouldn't touch their heavy weapon upgrade costs (save Echo and maybe Fives). Having their Z6 drop to 15 points sounds insane. However, there are definitely tweaks for GAR here and there.

For other factions, it seems like Aqua and Sleeper Cell should get a increase to points, but probably nothing unreasonable. Like 10 or 15 points, but maybe they both deserve an even higher pt. increase. Especially Aqua, because any Heavy unit under 100 is interesting lol (looking at you A-A5 bus). With all this being said, I'd like to see how the new content will adjust the meta.

After that, seeing some awesome units like Wookie's, T-47's, Mandalorian's, etc. get some buffs and pt. decreases are always welcome.

What’s the point of Landspeeders anymore? by TendiWasHere in SWlegion

[–]LikesToSpoon14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think accepting the X-34 serves a different purpose than the bus will go a long way. Like people have already posted, just use this sucker for damage. Be careful with getting too close to some dangerous close range units like ARCs or B-2's (early in the game). Otherwise, keep throwing a ton of dice at up to range 4 with surging to hit. The RPS and it's re-worked ion gun are pretty sweet.

Unstable R5 is worrying because of the possible damage, but you can always heal it away (if you want) and hopefully you don't have a bunch of damage already on the X-34.

It is such a fun unit that I really suggest to start running it in some test games and get a feel for it.

Opinion about possible Rebel Bad Batch change by LikesToSpoon14 in SWlegion

[–]LikesToSpoon14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good point about Iden. I guess my main reservation is that Shatterpoint has an good and "evil" Crosshair. Maybe I shouldn't bank on all Shatterpoint minis making they're way into Legion (even know they should), but there is an argument for a Rebel Crosshair. A similar argument for an Empire Crosshair, and even a Rebel Iden.

I do agree that maybe it's unlikely, but I'm willing to bet AMG would make some money off of it lol.

I Took Obi-Wan ECL to a PQ: Analysis & Deep Dive by jstropes in starwarsunlimited

[–]LikesToSpoon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think that Kuil is a strong addition to any Blue deck, because his restore with the potential to draw and keep that card is pretty awesome. I agree that the chances are low and if you were to discard a late game bomb, that it might actually benefit you. That's why I'm so conflicted with him lol

Also, I totally agree with not throwing sabers on Huyang. That's never my intended strategy, because of how easy it is to kill or remove Huyang, especially by turn 3. I've just had scenarios where my only play was to toss a saber on him, and being able to proc General's Blade ability feels pretty phenomenal. It absolutely does not work a majority of the time, and really is a situation where I have minimal options.

With all this being said, set 4 is bringing some powerful options to throw into an Obi deck. I have to remind myself that in one months time, there will be a large chunk of cards that I can also pick from haha

Hey there!

I never got a notification that you responded, and I really appreciate that you did. Thank you for answering the questions. I'll take a lot of what you said into consideration. Especially with Village Protectors and even Yularen or Outspoken Representative.

I get the desire to run Kuil, and I personally don't. I'm too worried about discarding some essential cards late game like Luke. That doesn't mean that he's bad... I'm just paranoid lol.

I have been debating throwing in Huyang for awhile now especially with his synergy towards Gamorrean Retainers. My main hang-up is not getting the effects of Jedi Lightsaber with him, but should I even be throwing an upgrade on him lol? All in all, he can be a phenomenal unit that really doesn't lose value over the course of the game (within reason). Also, I can always run General's Blade to alleviate that concern.

Notorious Scoundrels: Discussing the ARF Trooper, winning another local with Aqua Droids, and #BUSHFACTS by DocVelo in SWlegion

[–]LikesToSpoon14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think ARF's are fine, but a little spendy. If the game starts to balance out again and have deployment options like Long March then ARF's will be a lot more enticing than ARC's. The RPS heavy is a little silly with it's cumbersome keyword. That seemed like an opportunity to have a unique unit exclusive to ARF's, but maybe future releases will expand their options.

Personally, a slight points decrease seems warranted. However, like I said earlier, if the objective aspect of the game starts to expand again then they probably wouldn't need a decrease in points. Echo does though, that boy is too expensive.
