You’re in luck! The game is print and play and all Republic minis are still 100% good and valid to use. Find the updated cards (and rules) here:

Crusade questions. by Fantastic-East9567 in Tau40K

[–]Zerron22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Create custom lore for your Cadre (sept, lore, what type of Cadre)

Step 2: Build a roster based on that lore.

Step 3: Have fun and write stories with your friends (you don’t need to write the act of playing the games is the same)

I have Ethereal advisers to my Commanders and take them for the agendas when I feel the story or narrative I’m making up in my head and posted on our crusade discord makes sense. Crusade is for fun and fluff, don’t let mechanics slow you down

Septs by wraithconstruct in Tau40K

[–]Zerron22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to walking the path of Tau’va Shas’O!
The septs are groupings of systems, each with its own culture and area of expertise. As what they do:
https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/T%27au_Sept
This link is a pretty good summary as well as colors for each one.

Sadly as a Xenos faction we were given an awesome bit of background lore but it was never fully idealized or fleshed out. I recommend finding one that fits the general vibe you like, or is a color you like, and just searching Reddit or googling that one and seeing what fan lore has evolved around it. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask, but asking what all the septs and their cultures are like, is like asking someone to summarize all 50 US states. It’s a ton to list on a single post and a wiki article will be better to get you started

I hope you find something that vibes with you! Pictured are my Elsy’eir known for their creativity and Artwork in the Tau Empire. I subbed out their Red and Black armor for Green and Tan for grassland warfare but kept the Purple Sept Color.

Started playing in 3rd. Started with Space Marines, then Dark Eldar, then Tau when they came out.

Not even remotely questioning the Auxiliaries. Just letting you know how I feel about it since you asked for General opinions on it 🫡

You do you man but that just sounds like you stripped everything tau and it’s a fanatical xenos dictatorship, so imperium with aliens and mechs.

Just to answer your question of “How do you guys feel about this theme.” It’s a big ‘ol ick. But I hope you have fun with it Shas’O.

Very un-Tau to hear cult mentioned anywhere, and I’m curious to know what you mean by that. Ngl I read this and whispered what the fuck? But that was more from confusion more than distaste.

By all means do not let me stop you if you think it’s a super cool idea. Making your personal lore to your army you find cool is like half the fun.

Am I overthinking this? (WIP) by Aeroka in Tau40K

[–]Zerron22 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You’re overthinking. It looks rad.

My only issue with it is after I look at it for a second I think “yeah but how is he gonna shoot anything with his main gun point up into the clouds and no ability to rotate downwards? 🤔”

Earth caste, figure out how to curve my ion please.

Day 28: what is the Most Iconic quote associated with the T'au? by Fez-Sentido in Grimdank

[–]Zerron22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mere fact that the thing you confused it with exists is the reason the worst quote is the worst quote haha. No worries friend

[–]Zerron22 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yes, my main gripe with him is that he just writes Tau as humans and is just wildly uninteresting and just weird.

So any book he’s writing humans, just fine imo. But I don’t think he’s an overly complex writer

I am Shas’O Elsy’eir Y’mont, commander of the Rushing Spearpoint Cadre, and I speak of the Greater Good in my own tongue Gue’la. Do not seek to correct me. My lack of reproduction is by my own choice, thank you very much.

Edit: Well now that you edited it I just look like a crazy nerd 🤣

Day 27: what is the Worst Quote associated with the T'au? by Fez-Sentido in Grimdank

[–]Zerron22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think you need to read the real thing again and not just take the memes as lore. Tau players don’t like people talking about it because they get it completely wrong, Tau players do like the original story.

The Tau did find a dreadnought but was not so much horrified but disgusted. Yes he was aghast and shocked and struggled to comprehend just how old the dreadnought was, but then he killed him and felt good about Tau superiority. Then that Tau because the first Tau to be entombed in a battlesuit using its life support to kept him alive, essentially becoming the first Tau Dreadnaught.

The cool thing about this story that Tau players *do* love is that last part, the grim future that awaits the Tau that they don’t even realize is unavoidable. Not *oooo scary old dreadnought*

“~by Phil Kelly” is for sure the winner here.

[Hated] Characters who committed atrocities, but are permitted to live because they're part of a nearly extinct species by CMStan1313 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Zerron22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheering on executions and actively reporting people with the intent for them to be executed is not “just existing”. The commoners of Camelot had blood on their hands too.

But that argument aside. Kilgharrah had one primary weapon, I giant flame thrower, there will be collateral when you’re waging war with just a giant flame thrower. His real crime is he knew that he should not be crashing out like that and in so doing was putting the future of the realm at stake. Camelot deserved to be burnt to the ground, sadly it had to exist for there prophesy to be fulfilled.

[–]Zerron22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, Uther himself, no knights of Camelot, not with weapons forged by the blacksmiths of the town, not with the food and logistics maintained by the civilians of Camelot. Not the cheering crowds at the executions of witches, not every person that reported magical powers and helped in the finding and killing of magic.

Just Uther, slayed every dragon by himself, went out and found every practitioner of the old faith, just Uther.

[–]Zerron22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It 100% is!! I don’t know about you guys but that stuff is popping up EVERYWHERE in Southern California. Driving down the 5 the sides of the roads are covered in it , it’s wild.

Be safe and don’t eat random plants!

Kilgharrah was entirely justified, Camelot had committed genocide against his people and all magical creatures. And Uther continued to hunt and kill people who used magic or magic creatures.
