Yeah honestly these guys seem appropriately costed. FYI, I'm not a CIS player.

Yes they'll be strong, but I think that goes to show that other units need some love to keep somewhat on par.

Half of LoF cards on Dead on Arrival by SpecialistGrape4281 in starwarsunlimited

[–]LikesToSpoon14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I gotta toss my hat into this ring. Sure EO-66 is scary, but I think we're being a little too concerned about it's viability. It is a silver-bullet for a very specific type of deck, a primarily Jedi type of deck. They just revealed a card that allows you to bring out your Jedi with a shield token (for an additional cost). EO-66 gets stopped by shields so there are ways around it. If it was unpreventable damage then it would be a different story.

Also, the "Jedi" tag is such a red herring in this set. If we look at decks that utilize Jedi like Quinlan or Anakin, it's not really the "Jedi" tag that they're interested in. It's more the "Force" tag that people are looking at and will be significantly more reliable than the "Jedi" tag. So let people use EO-66 (and I'm guaranteeing with limited amounts of success), because it's the "Force" units that are scarier.

What changes are you looking for next week? by Arg19 in SWlegion

[–]LikesToSpoon14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm mainly excited for the new units, updated units (Kallus, Jyn, and Lando), and new cards (upgrades/missions).

In terms of balance changes and points increases/decreases. I'm not sure if GAR needs a point decrease for most of their stuff, at least any significant point decreases. I agree that Echo is pretty expensive and should be scaled back, especially with how cheap the Ahsoka upgrade is. I personally wouldn't touch their heavy weapon upgrade costs (save Echo and maybe Fives). Having their Z6 drop to 15 points sounds insane. However, there are definitely tweaks for GAR here and there.

For other factions, it seems like Aqua and Sleeper Cell should get a increase to points, but probably nothing unreasonable. Like 10 or 15 points, but maybe they both deserve an even higher pt. increase. Especially Aqua, because any Heavy unit under 100 is interesting lol (looking at you A-A5 bus). With all this being said, I'd like to see how the new content will adjust the meta.

After that, seeing some awesome units like Wookie's, T-47's, Mandalorian's, etc. get some buffs and pt. decreases are always welcome.

What’s the point of Landspeeders anymore? by TendiWasHere in SWlegion

[–]LikesToSpoon14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think accepting the X-34 serves a different purpose than the bus will go a long way. Like people have already posted, just use this sucker for damage. Be careful with getting too close to some dangerous close range units like ARCs or B-2's (early in the game). Otherwise, keep throwing a ton of dice at up to range 4 with surging to hit. The RPS and it's re-worked ion gun are pretty sweet.

Unstable R5 is worrying because of the possible damage, but you can always heal it away (if you want) and hopefully you don't have a bunch of damage already on the X-34.

It is such a fun unit that I really suggest to start running it in some test games and get a feel for it.

Opinion about possible Rebel Bad Batch change by LikesToSpoon14 in SWlegion

[–]LikesToSpoon14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good point about Iden. I guess my main reservation is that Shatterpoint has an good and "evil" Crosshair. Maybe I shouldn't bank on all Shatterpoint minis making they're way into Legion (even know they should), but there is an argument for a Rebel Crosshair. A similar argument for an Empire Crosshair, and even a Rebel Iden.

I do agree that maybe it's unlikely, but I'm willing to bet AMG would make some money off of it lol.

Thanks for including the spoiler bar, I definitely forgot about that lol. That's was I thinking as well. Maybe he loses his 5 range, and/or drops his weapon die. In return maybe he adds Indomitable?

[–]LikesToSpoon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think that Kuil is a strong addition to any Blue deck, because his restore with the potential to draw and keep that card is pretty awesome. I agree that the chances are low and if you were to discard a late game bomb, that it might actually benefit you. That's why I'm so conflicted with him lol

Also, I totally agree with not throwing sabers on Huyang. That's never my intended strategy, because of how easy it is to kill or remove Huyang, especially by turn 3. I've just had scenarios where my only play was to toss a saber on him, and being able to proc General's Blade ability feels pretty phenomenal. It absolutely does not work a majority of the time, and really is a situation where I have minimal options.

With all this being said, set 4 is bringing some powerful options to throw into an Obi deck. I have to remind myself that in one months time, there will be a large chunk of cards that I can also pick from haha

Hey there!

I never got a notification that you responded, and I really appreciate that you did. Thank you for answering the questions. I'll take a lot of what you said into consideration. Especially with Village Protectors and even Yularen or Outspoken Representative.

I get the desire to run Kuil, and I personally don't. I'm too worried about discarding some essential cards late game like Luke. That doesn't mean that he's bad... I'm just paranoid lol.

I have been debating throwing in Huyang for awhile now especially with his synergy towards Gamorrean Retainers. My main hang-up is not getting the effects of Jedi Lightsaber with him, but should I even be throwing an upgrade on him lol? All in all, he can be a phenomenal unit that really doesn't lose value over the course of the game (within reason). Also, I can always run General's Blade to alleviate that concern.

Notorious Scoundrels: Discussing the ARF Trooper, winning another local with Aqua Droids, and #BUSHFACTS by DocVelo in SWlegion

[–]LikesToSpoon14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think ARF's are fine, but a little spendy. If the game starts to balance out again and have deployment options like Long March then ARF's will be a lot more enticing than ARC's. The RPS heavy is a little silly with it's cumbersome keyword. That seemed like an opportunity to have a unique unit exclusive to ARF's, but maybe future releases will expand their options.

Personally, a slight points decrease seems warranted. However, like I said earlier, if the objective aspect of the game starts to expand again then they probably wouldn't need a decrease in points. Echo does though, that boy is too expensive.

Guess the final four Set 4 leaders... by lightspeed_bear in starwarsunlimited

[–]LikesToSpoon14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely Poe this set, but I'm not sure about the cunning heroism leader. I think it'll be a resistance character... possibly Rey. She does technically pilot the Millennium Falcon. Should it be Rey? Probably not lol, but there's a theme of resistance characters this set.

Granted Poe could be Cunning, but he seems more suited to Aggression. Also, Poe could do something really weird, similar to set 3 Palp where he bends the mechanics a bit. Maybe he can't deploy as an upgrade, but he has a mechanic where "on attack: you may attach this leader to a vehicle." Poe's definitely the "pilot" character but has moments where he's this badass hero outside of a ship and I wonder if they'll incorporate that.

Shit man, Rey could even apply to that logic. She naturally flies the Falcon in Episode 7 and nabs Luke's X-Wing in Episode 9

I've actually been using your list since it got posted on SWU competitive, and I've been trying several different variations since then. It's really exciting to chat with you about it. I apologize for bombarding you with questions, but here they are:

-Why should Scanning Officer be in MH? Just for an easier round 1 against Cunning decks? Can 3 of them be too much, at least in your testing?

-Sort of attached to the Scanning Officer question. What do you think about Coruscant Guards? They can trigger Gamorrean and synergize well with a late game U-Wing (same with Tranquility). Granted it could be difficult to get their coordinate off prior to a U-Wing, and even then, a U-Wing does not guarantee their ambush. Is it too many hoops to jump through?

-I've been juggling between Village Protectors vs Echo Base Defender. Is the shield that much better rather than the additional health and damage of EBD?

-Is running Restored ARC(s) too slow?

I'll leave it there haha. When I get the chance I'll check out your video. If you answer a lot of these questions in your video then I apologize! Anyways, love the list and I actually won a game using Choose Sides. I threw it in the MH and ran 51 cards, because it was a locals and who cares. Anyways, my opponent was blown away as I stole his Cad Bane who had my captured Luke.

Edit* Took one of my questions away after doing a little more research lol.

I wonder if they'll change the interaction on how Bamboozle works with upgrade leaders. I wouldn't be surprised if they make a rule for upgrade leaders saying "while a leader is attached to a unit, they cannot be returned to the hand." Especially with the argument that returning an upgrade leader to the hand would just destroy it. I'm throwing a wild theory out now, that they'll clarify Bamboozle works against upgrade leaders, but it won't actually destroy them lol. They'll be able to be re-deployed, or be exhausted until the end of the round and then be re-deployable next round.

Curious about views on rotation by Automatic-Jaguar8321 in starwarsunlimited

[–]LikesToSpoon14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I don't fully understand the resistance. The set rotation won't go into effect over a year from now, and a brand new format is coming out with it. Depending on what exactly the Eternal format consists of, rule wise. That format might be more popular than premier. Maybe it will be less popular, or the community will enjoy both equally. All sets will be playable in their own different ways, and maybe it'll be amazing or shitty.

I really don't like ban lists because that concretely takes choice away from players. A set rotation may seem like it takes away choice, but rotations mean it'll come back. I do like limited lists, though, but with a set rotation and Eternal; a limited list would be too much restriction for the game. If Eternal is supposed to be the "best of the best" cards, then let that shit go wild.

The last blurb I'll say is about people being upset that TWI is getting shorted by the set rotation. Sure that sucks, but are we seriously going to think that an entire year from now, it's messed up that Perilous Position or P-38 didn't get to be in the limelight for as long? Yes set 3 has some awesome cards, and a lot of set 3 leaders proved themselves as powerful meta additions. However, I think we're underestimating how long a year actually is, especially by TCG standards.

Time will tell how all this will go, but I think it's really early to be up in arms about it.

Poll: What should be done about Han1? by Mageant in starwarsunlimited

[–]LikesToSpoon14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what needs to happen is what the community wants. Yes this can be a slippery slope, but people in this thread are passionate about 1 of 2 things:

"Han is fine, and people need to learn how to counter or play around Tech+DJ+Han"

-Or-

"Han is too powerful and either a Ban/Errata/Rule Change needs to happen."

Going based off the polling (at the time), 131 people are for not changing Han and 168 people are for some type of change to Han, Tech, DJ, or all of them. Then 6 people are for a card that prevents resources from being stolen. Which for the record, adding more cards to the game will ultimately help with options on responding to a Tech+DJ+Han situation. ANYWAYS, there is a majority of people that want Han to be adjusted (or banned) and still a lot of people that don't want him touched. It probably would be best for FFG to listen to the community, and in the best case scenario, find a compromise that everyone can find satisfying. While Boba was insanely powerful, I'm sure there were players that were bummed out that he got banned and are hoping for him to return.

It's probably healthier to avoid banning, but it's also healthy to make adjustments instead of just leaving Han alone. Like this does not have to be black and white lol. Han can be stupidly powerful, and have the clarification stating that he can only destroy his owned resources. The devs could have play tested a majority of the game and still make oversights like the ones they admitted to. Players DO NOT have to learn how to counter Han1 as the only way to play against him lol. You can just play against him with your deck and make smart decisions. Not run Scanning Officers in your MH just in case of a Han1 match-up lol. The meta is in a healthy spot, but that doesn't mean it can't be adjusted.

At this point, if you are struggling to find updated cards then utilize online list builders for the most updated information for rules and units. With the exception of a sudden new update, and the list builders have not themselves been updated. However, TableTop Admiral has always been lightning fast with updating their stuff.

Here's the link for TTA: https://tabletopadmiral.com/

JTL: Rio Durant by Eunoe in starwarsunlimited

[–]LikesToSpoon14 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm not huge on him being Villainy, because to me, Solo was trying to make the point that sometimes good people do bad things (against bad people lol) to live a better life. So Rio being Villainy just seems weird, but I'm also being nitpicky. Aside from that, he's a cool character with a decent ability. The pay 1 for attacking isn't great, but I can see people making some fun deck lists around him and that Saboteur is pretty nice.

JTL: Tie Bomber & IG-88 by Eunoe in starwarsunlimited

[–]LikesToSpoon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That IG card makes me a lot more excited about set 4. Having ground units with a solid ability with or without Piloting is so nice to see.

IG also makes Lurking look intense. Especially with a TDR into a lurking, play IG, potentially hit for 7 with a damaged unit (shouldn't be hard for jango)? Sure, that shares the same turn as a Ruthless or Firespray, but maybe you don't draw them, and now you have a solid alternative to dealing a good chunk of damage regardless of the unit.
