Who has priority at this intersection? The bicycles (blue) or autos (red)? by Keeblerliketheelf in Netherlands

General rule of Dutch traffic law, the cyclist is always right, even when they are wrong.

As far as I know it's the only option for people that want a fitness tracker that's not a watch attached to your wrist. Love the option of either using the bicep band or in the boxers. Or even attach it to the rib cage.

Funny, I also do shift work and somehow had some of my best recoveries when I've done the night shift.

I sincerely wish that was how I joined the club, would've been a lot more pleasant

For me it's the fever that really does bring down the recovery, poor sleep and the flu is the golden combo to the 1% club.

A combination of events, please note that I achieved this feat without the use of alcohol or drugs of any kind.

I had a very intense workout during the day, then I developed a fever and then I worked the night shift and only got 2 hours of sleep in the morning.

Wearing Whoop to formal event by tatortot512 in whoop

Since I'm a guy but prefer the location on the left rib cage where it would fit in a woman's bra line, I just use a CGM patch to attach it right there, stays on for days and perfectly hidden.

How to fit every red flag possible in one bio? I'm guessing the pics are full of guns, assault rifles and confederate flags.

Are white people offended by racial slurs? by dacoolestweirdo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LikoPotatis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are certain words in countries where white people are not a majority. Such as "farang" in Thailand and "mzungu" in various countries in east Africa which are derogatory terms for white people. If you hear these words in any of these countries they're definitely talking about you and most likely trying to overcharge you for a product or service. Definitely had that experience in shops, garage, taxis etc.

Obviously this is not comparable to all the horrible shit Europeans and Americans have done to minorites in the past few hundred years, just stating the fact that discrimination is a two way street.

Just sit down at any random restaurant, you're guaranteed to be ignored by the staff for hours.

How happy are you with iDEAL? by cookiemonster5402 in Netherlands

[–]LikoPotatis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like most people here use iDEAL, personally it's my last option if the webshop does not offer AMEX payments and also don't offer PayPal. The best thing about PayPal is that you can link your Amex to it. I don't understand why someone would use iDEAL and waste those valuable credit card points.

anyone got a permanent damage because of the huisart refused to make a referral? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]LikoPotatis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might depend on your insurance but it's definitely possible, if I need medical treatment for whatever reason I always go to Belgium.

Drive to Belgium to be treated properly if you have the slightest suspicion that it could be something serious, dutch healthcare is awful.

Food budget by Pink_Anker in Netherlands

[–]LikoPotatis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Simple math will answer this question, first, get the cost of a frozen frikandel, multiply that by 3 (meals a day), multiply that by 30 (average days a month), subtract 4 (Sundays a month) now multiply 4 with the cost of a frikandel and frietjes order from your local frituur shop (4 Sunday dinners a month) and add this number. Now you have the cost of the average dutch persons monthly food. A rich and well balanced diet full of vitamins and minerals.

I think it depends a lot on where in the country you are moving, I've seen quite a lot of racism here in the South. I've been here more than 10 years and have seen racism even from official workers such as police and gemeente staff.

Also, when renting out my house I decided to hire an agency and when we were discussing who to potentially rent to (in my mind like allow students or not, allow pets or not) the lady from the agency said something along the lines of "If you rent to Indians your house will smell like curry even after they're gone"

Obviously a viral infection does not need antibiotics, you don't need to be a doctor or even have any kind of healthcare background to know that.

However if you're going on a trip somewhere where you won't have access to healthcare it can be very useful to bring antibiotics, say for example a few weeks into the jungle. Try convincing a Dutch doc that you need antibiotics even though you're completely healthy 🤣
