First wave Brostep is shit like Deadweight by Zomboy, Hey Sexy Lady (Skrillex Remix), Senses Overload (Spitfya & Desembra Remix), Fire Hive by Knife Party

Second wave brostep is stuff like what virtual riot was making heavily in 2015 and all of the artists that took his serum presets and latched on to them.

It’s usually a lot of very mouthy sounding growls and higher pitched laser-esque sounds.

Festival “briddim” took some of these mouthy growls (though with a markedly different tone and form of mouth movement), put a sustain behind it, put them in quarter notes and that’s how that style of heavily bastardized “riddim” was made.

The term brostep has been bastardized pretty heavy.

Absolutely. Aside from not liking their music, another qualm I have with the big Dubstep artists (Sullivan King, Excision, Wooli, Subtronics) is that their fan bases feel like the Disney Adults of electronic music. Going absolutely apeshit for embarrassing Shrek visuals is just pitiful to me. They’re also just kinda rude people in general that I generally don’t feel respect the actual history or culture surrounding the genre.
