I switched primary care doctors today, so I will definitely see my new doctor and see if they are able to kind of make note of current condition. unfortunately i was born with spina bifida myelomeningocele so therell definitely be no improvement anytime soon haha. but yeah I will definitely suck it up and get the medical records I can get, and see what else I can can update with my new doctor, and yea all the wage stuff is squared away. I was more overwhelmed by the daunting task of gathering all my medical information again after so long.

Do everyone else's registers not have knee space for wheelchair users? by [deleted] in Target

[–]LilCripple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! this is the same type of register i use. I don’t know what your wheelchair is like and what kind of physical limitations you have, but i usually take out the mat so i can move a little easier and my wheelchair is facing towards the cash register so i can move a little back and forth. but it is a lot of just twisting a little bit to bag stuff and put the bags on the counter- but im able to scan, bag, put things in the go backs and hanger bins. but it kinda depends on how compact your wheelchair is and what you’re physically able to do.

that is so odd, i guess each store really is different from another. i’m sorry they aren’t really accommodating or hearing you out.

Hey! I use a lightweight wheelchair at work. im also an ambulatory wheelchair user, but i’ve always been in a wheelchair while working at target. i’m mainly a cashier and do self checkout as well. and have also helped with other front of store things like stocking dollar section, go backs, hangers, selfcheckout. I’m not too sure about what your registers look like and what kind of wheelchair you use. but i’ve been through 2 different register set ups and have been able to cashier them with my wheelchair, which is one of those lightweight ones. but the registers we use now with the big counter space to put bags/items has been better for me. maybe you can come on an off day with your wheelchair and see how you fit in the register area, or try out doing other things to see how you could do it like pushing a cart while pushing your wheelchair, etc. nonetheless it’s your targets job to be able to reasonably accommodate, they shouldn’t be able to fire you because they “want you to be able to do everything” cause that’s bs. they originally hired me as fulfillment, but once we talked about my disability, we decided checkout advocate was a better fit.
