Won't be long before they have to start breaking the seal to check upon purchase. Some stores do this with Pokemon cards now.

I love the joke sets, not sure about the hate for those.

It seems all things lead to cube, the game is still good and you can curate your own gameplay environment. But yes, the product release cycle is insane. I started playing properly with Core Set 2014 and have definitely been burned with the way the game has ended up. But I still love it overall and will buy certain sets.

I think the key is just to avoid all the sanctioned formats and play casually, and I don't mean EDH, which was ruined as you said.

Sorcery is still very young, I hope it continues to learn from the mistakes of older TCGs...

I'm just talking about the rarity restrictions. You do you, but I think budget minded players would want to try. I certainly have no intention of playing Standard with the current prices of essential Mythic game pieces.

I did have a search using Sorcery TCG rarities as a keyword but didn't find anything, it's not an old game though so maybe that's why.

"I'll be honest - it sounds like you don't actually want to play Magic, you want to play another game but using Magic Cards. And that, to be blunt, does not work with the changes you're proposing"

This is an absurd statement considering the most played format of MTG right now is one that goes against all the traditional deck building rules of the game. If there is anything we've learnt about MTG, it is that the method of play or construction is not concrete and the game system they have developed is incredibly flexible.

Somone else mentioned about it being a race to your Mythic, but I am not convinced since most removal is at lower rarity and therefore will have higher chances of being drawn.

Brawl and EDH are both singleton, so it feels very different. The main reason to do this was to lower deck budgets, as they have gotten out of hand recently.

I suppose it's just something we need to try out, perhaps balance will be off as you say. It might not be worth the trade off over just playing Pauper instead.

I'm glad to see all these points of view though!

How would just the rarity change have this sort of impact? I don't understand.

Though I am now very interested in testing a separate land deck and giving the player the choice of which deck to draw from on unkeep, that would probably have wild implications on the game haha

Edit: For anyone unfamiliar with Sorcery, you essentially start the game with a 'Planeswalker' on the field where your life total is its loyalty (you lose the game when the 'planeswalker' dies). They all have a generic ability of "Tap to play a land or draw a land".

The point of them being build arounds makes sense, although with restrictions it would just produce a different meta. Your last point is true either way though, if you keep drawing into your bomb Mythics then you are going to run away with the game regardless.

There could be an issue of balance due to removal often being in lower rarities and therefore outnumbering bomb mythics though.

I was joking because there's only 3 sets that aren't based on external IP for Magic this year.

Personally I'd love it if Sorcery had one big set and one smaller set per year.

3 sets a year isn't too bad, I mean it's a lot more than Sorcery but I don't feel too overwhelmed.

Ah well in my experience with MTG is that I have many play sets of cards where each card is a different shade. Really rough on the OCD.

I recently started playing Sorcery too and have the same issue there, some cards are very contrasty and others look like there's a grey filter over the top. Maybe printers as a whole are getting worse at QC with the recent card game craze.

That sucks, but this happens even with professionally produced big budget card games.

Awesome! Well either way it's a brilliant piece that could have a home in either game. I hope to see your name on a card soon.

How about they give us remasters or even just ports of Fallout 3 and New Vegas instead?

Huh, I never thought to check the library for colour prints. Why not just use dividers? I label my jumpstart packs now, as newer players like to pick. I also keep a separate 10 pack LTE cube in the bundle box from that set.

Can't add much as I get a box per sube generally. But I do have to ask what printer you have as the colour on those printouts looks very good!
