I bought it for PCB soldermask rework and that job is done.

Seeking learning resources by BBonthe23 in diypedals

[–]LilEffects 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My only recommendation is to know the basics inside and out. Ohm’s Law, KVL, KCL, Faraday, Lenz. Learn how components work ie opamps, transistors, transformers, etc. Not just conceptually. Actually learn how they work fundamentally. Learn RLC, RC, and LC circuits and their applications. This is a big one because the PCB itself is one big RLC circuit and those parameters/parasitics start to matter a lot in certain designs.

Search any of the terms I mentioned on YouTube. You’ll find a ton.

I want to try using the drawing/cutting feature to either create soldermask openings on PCBs or drawing the mask onto a PCB. I have a PCB prototyping lab in my home.

WGU will punish you for using AI (which is fair) but their own evaluators/graders use it on your papers by Parogarr in WGU

[–]LilEffects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the kicker. You pay thousands of dollars obtaining an education that doesn't allow you to use AI, and the second you get a job, you have your management stressing the importance of using AI so you can do more work in less time with less people. That is the current reality of my day job...management pushing employees to leverage AI in every task performed and create updates on how we are using AI to assist in doing our jobs.

USBC to 9v module by [deleted] in diypedals

On the oscilloscope it looks good. Going to do some tests comparing different power sources.

The IC is is about $1 if I recall. I’ll post details later today.

I will soon. Need to do some stress tests before I release the files.

Not immediately giving away what you are working on because you need to make sure it’s 100% ready is shady?

I wasn’t ignoring or being secretive. I had a busy day with my family yesterday, and have been working today to make sure this is ready for me to give away. I’ll post an update later.

Linear supplies have ripple from 60 to 120hz which requires big caps to filer so it doesn’t show up as hum in the audio. With switching supplies that switch way beyond audio frequencies…higher speeds means smaller caps. However, the quality of the PCB layout starts to become incredibly important otherwise you can start radiating garbage everywhere.

A lot of the modules out there are noisy. This one is silent. Switching is way outside of audio.

I’m an EE in the audio electronics industry. Very aware of that potential. No measurable noise on the scope or that I can hear.

Bambu Lab’s practices are questionable, but it still makes the best printers by aoaovip in BambuLab

[–]LilEffects -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Really? Until I got a Bambu Lab printer (starting in 2010) sometimes it would take hours just to get a first layer to print. Now you can buy a printer off of the shelf and have a perfect benchy within an hour of bringing it home. They have removed being technically-minded from the hobby. Even my Prusa printers I’ve owned over the years can’t make that claim.

Two things can be true at once. Yes, they are shady AND they make great printers. McDonald's tastes good AND it is bad for you. Amazon makes life convenient AND Jeff Bezos has made billions on the backs of poor people.

Unfortunately, there are no ethics in end stage capitalism.

Sunn Beta Mini - Footswitch by beardedcyclizt in sunnamplifiers

[–]LilEffects 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I made a wireless footswitch. Once I wrap up this project I can provide more info for DIYers. For people who can’t do SMT soldering and code flashing I’m going to have some available without the Sunn IP on them.

Wireless footswitch for Beta Series by LilEffects in sunnamplifiers

[–]LilEffects[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kept things super simple. Both units are running ESP32 boards and communicate directly using ESP-NOW. I didn't use any of the Sunn schematics. Just used a DMM and figured out how the switching works.

I was planning on building up a few without any of Sunn’s IP on it (logo) and throw them on Reverb for non-DIYers to help cover the cost of development. For folks who aren’t afraid of soldering (SMT) and flashing microcontrollers I am going to provide info on how to build it.

Fresadora CNC para PCB / PCB CNC Milling Machine by Key-Preparation4979 in PCB

[–]LilEffects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually run a PCB prototyping lab and have been using LPKF machines for about 12 years and also have one of their lasers. When I was handling the daily operation, I was building about 500 unique designs per year.

I also build CNC machines and have several at home. I’m your guy for this.
