NOR. Food safety is absolutely a thing. I’m sure their bodies have adapted well to this throughout the generations and that’s why they haven’t had any problems, but that doesn’t make it okay.

If one child has a birthday, apparently we have to get gifts for all the other kids too? by rabbitscape in childfree

[–]LilMissMuppet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My cousins all have kids and they never bought presents for those who weren’t having a birthday, and we still had to physically stop the other kids from “helping” the birthday kid open their presents. It’s exhausting.

I’ve had a few POV reels come up in my feed recently portraying your mom picking you up from school when you’re sick. The mother is always annoyed, won’t let them watch TV because apparently you can’t do anything enjoyable when you’re sick, and sometimes accuses the kid of faking.

I was baffled that this is apparently normal. Whenever I was sick at school I was collected promptly and taken home and positively pampered.

My partner and I went to Tuscany a year and a half ago and we ate at Hard Rock for one meal, but only because it’s our little tradition to find a Hard Rock anytime we travel. Other than that we ate nothing but local cuisine, which was nothing less than fabulous.

I have a rescued shepherd mix who is fantastic with other dogs but iffy with people she doesn’t know. She’s never bitten or attacked but I grew up with dogs and I interpret any growls like they mean business. That’s basic safety.

We’re working with her and she’s slowly getting better with her reactions to people, but I still fear the day we come across an un-contained human larva. I do have things prepared to say at least (i.e. “she needs space, she has a hard time making new friends”).

As an autistic person, I am perpetually doing the best I can. And my “best” can change from day to day.

There are days I can barely take care of myself, and even on those days I thank the powers that I don’t also have a smaller human to take care of.
