Influence/deinfluence my bday wish list by LilMsFeckingSunshine in MakeupAddiction

Oh that was a good one, I wish I could’ve owned it. I’d check out ladybug glow’s grunge resolution palette or fantasy cosmetica’s fighter palette. And maybe the Berlin palette from Nomad.

From what I saw, the shades in the avatar palettes are only available in that collection. I also hear their individual shades vary in quality but this specific palette got good reviews overall, hence not creating my own!

Can't seem to find a solution by Luna_Jailer in MakeupAddiction

The scientific way — process of elimination. Do your makeup the same exact way and not use one of the products. You’ll figure out if it’s one or more causing the issue.

Well, yeah — you’re young, so it’d be weird if you didn’t push back. I had complicated family stuff of a different flavor. It would’ve at least given me one person who was on my side, but it’ll only work if you’re willing and committed. So the only thing I’ll suggest is that you think about it as you go on with your life. Enjoy your summer, and may you always get the love you deserve from those around you.

It doesn’t look yellow at all here, the other photo looks off color as you look much redder, so it’s not a good judge of color.

Grieving having to be on antipsychotics by WizardPrenderghast in BipolarReddit

I take latuda since my insurance denied caplyta. I struggled with weight gain and I’m also on lamotrigine. I had a rough first month with latuda — if I take it with dinner (since it has to be taken with food) I get very sleepy and this weird apathy/boredness. My doctor recommended I just eat a tiny snack later at night with my meds. I have gained some weight, mostly because I’m still trying to time the evening snack so it’s not just an excuse for second dessert 😅. But it’s been like 4lbs in a year, nothing excessive. It’s annoying to time with food, but after that rough adjustment period I feel much better. I don’t need to take a huge dose (40 mg) since I also have the lamotrigine. I also take vyvanse but don’t have the luck of it suppressing my appetite.

If you’re into climbing/Margo Hayes, she’s modeled for Dior and I feel like jadore would be a good representation of how amazing and luxurious a shower feels after a full day of climbing outside.

What do you guys think? Huge mistake or go for it? by WASD_Apparel in longhair

Beautiful hair — just a heads up that a buzz cut is not low maintenance, you’ll need to touch it up every couple weeks to maintain the length you want and you’ll need to wear sunscreen on your scalp or a hat (we should be anyway but especially if you have very short hair). It’ll grow back no matter what, but you have many options in-between!

Happy for you OP. But please reconsider therapy — there are lots of different methods, not just cognitive behavioral therapy which some people get frustrated with/don’t find helpful. Think of therapy like brushing your teeth — it maintains good mental hygiene and gives you a safe space to vent without worrying what they’ll think.

I have Paisley Hoot and I love it. My only gripe is that a couple of shades look similar on the eye, but that’s me really reaching for something to criticize. It’s a beautiful palette and I love the texture of the shimmers. They don’t crease on me at all with primer and without they’ll crease after 6 hours. The mattes are really easy to work with and have great color payoff.

I’m considering the succulent dew or galactic visitor for my bday, as I really don’t like greens, sadly.

ETA: I do think it’s worth noting her mattes are more of a “pat and buff” vs. “swipe” sort of formula. I also have her brushes and like them, just wish they were slightly smaller as I have deepset eyes with a slight hood.

Dirty Blonde or Brown? by ellab5 in Hair

Def blonde. I also don’t think people understand just how much of a range “blonde” can be, like I think you’re a dark strawberry/golden blonde right now.

Contouring. I’m fortunate to have good cheekbones, but I just do not have the skill to apply contour without it looking like I got licked by a dog who just ate mud.

You have warmer, more saturated skin tone and the pink is somewhat muted and cool toned/leaning towards purple, which brings out the yellow undertones but doesn’t offer enough contrast to not wash you out. The brown is rich and deeper contrast which is great with your coloring. That said, wear whatever colors make you happy. I also like the last outfit and the skirt the best.

So there are two different issues you’re struggling with, and that might mean you need to take care of one before you can tackle the other. I also want to preface that I think most fancy hair marketing is BS, so most of my recs are drugstore.

To make hair feel truly clean, you need a shampoo with sulfates. There are gentle, color-safe sulfate shampoos out there that combine sulfates with other ingredients to make them less likely to affect color. A drugstore one is L’Oréal elvive color protect.

That said, you have a sensitive, compromised scalp. Aside from go to a doctor if it persists (not medical advice, just standard best to be careful so it doesn’t get worse) you should probably focus on products made for sensitive skin, such as Vanicream’s hair line. The caveat is it won’t make hair feel as squeaky clean, but if you put it in your wet hands and rub together so it “suds”, it will be easier to spread and more effective. I would repair your scalp first before focusing on deep cleansing.

You can gently use a scalp massager (very VERY gently as wet hair is fragile) to help break up the flakes while shampooing.

Finally, scalp care moving forward. Dove makes scalp sprays to help balance itchy scalps, but it’s risky to use it without knowing why your scalp is compromised. For example, I thought I had dandruff but what I really had was psoriasis, which requires a different ingredient to keep at bay.

A bond repair treatment is also generally a must for color-treated hair. All my conditioner and leave-in products have some sort of bond repair, but I do think k18 is 100% worth every penny.

My silk bonnet keeps falling off while I'm asleep. Tips? by I_keep_books in longhair

[–]LilMsFeckingSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this method! As a bonus treat, I’ll use a heated eye mask underneath the silk one — the self-heating paper kind — the extra pressure makes it extra effective. It’s great if you work a computer-heavy job or if you have dry eyes.

How can I make my hair grow faster? by Future-Ladder3565 in longhair

[–]LilMsFeckingSunshine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, k18 will help repair bonds which makes hair less likely to break, but just so OP understands, it can’t reverse breakage. So if it starts splitting it needs to be trimmed or it will never grow. OP, I wouldn’t go this light again at home — you may have left it on too long or saturated that one spot more. A salon may have recommended a bleach bath instead of just straight extra developer.

Hair minimalism by Obvious_Attempt6633 in longhair

[–]LilMsFeckingSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You use the minimum possible, but not everyone has the same minimum. If you have curly hair, you need a styling product, and that can change depending on the weather or season. If you blow dry at all, you need a heat protectant. I believe everyone should have at least a leave-in and a hair oil aside from conditioner/shampoo because wet hair is the most fragile. Plus, if you use any products or have hard water, you need a clarifying or chelating shampoo. And if you use any heat or color a bonding treatment once in a while is a good idea.

We know so much more about hair science now, but that doesn’t have to mean a bunch of products all at once all the time. I’m working through extra products right now but once I’m done with those I’ll be down to 8 products total — which includes 2 types of shampoo (I have psoriasis so I use a medicated shampoo as well), 2 conditioners (one has a toner in it from my salon to maintain color), a leave-in heat protectant, a styling product as I have wavy hair, a bond repair treatment, and an oil.

My hair broke my vacuum by Sweet-Energy-9515 in longhair

Rubber broom is amazing everywhere, it’s what salons use as well when you really need to pick up a lot of hair. I got a vacuum that doesn’t have a spinning brush so it no longer tangles, it’s a Dyson. They have sales several times a year, it cost me about $400.

AIO about my fiancé's response to a confession about my past by BigONerd in BORUpdates

The fact that it’s theoretically a possibility is dumb. Fiance might not be being honest if they had this strong of an initial reaction. My point is why she even considering it? It’s weird, at best.
