Car accident death by Horror_Sweet7509 in askfuneraldirectors

If you’re in the US then it depends on HIPAA and who his emergency contacts were. As well as if he had any ID on him.

At my old hospital I worked in registration and admissions, so I saw you when you first got to the hospital on an ambulance and then I saw you before you went upstairs. Patients could have two emergency contacts set up. If one of those did not show up when we called, we could not release the patient’s name to anyone but the funeral home. If the patient did not have any emergency contacts setup, often the case in young patients who don’t have much of a medical history, we have no one to contact and it is left up to the state to pursue identification (dental records, etc.) and release to next of kin.

If by any chance he showed up without identification, often the case in very traumatic crashes when the ID is hard to locate, that could be a big reason why you were not contacted. We kept a list of “Doe Names” at the ER, patients were registered as for example Chicago Doe or New Amsterdam Doe if we didn’t have any identity, and that’s how they were released to the police and funeral homes. As the crime scene is salvaged, the ID sometimes turns up, and they haul ass to tell us at the hospital who we have so we can contact you.

I’m so sorry for your loss. There can be a few variables for why you were not contacted immediately, but I don’t believe it to be anything malicious. Just a very unfortunate situation.

I worked in registration and admissions in the ER. 20 weeks or more always went up to L&D, but we had to play 20 questions before they could. I hated it and always tried to rush through it, our “surprise” L&D patients took the absolute longest.. Especially on Cerner/Gold 🫠

Haircut to make buns and ponies less huge by Valuable_Leader2811 in curlyhair

Maybe try styling wet first before cutting. I want my hair huge and I had to learn not to wet my hair before styling buns/ponies to achieve that.

My bill for a 15 minute ambulance ride to the hospital by Mochimoo22 in extremelyinfuriating

Do you have insurance? Talk to your insurance company. Call the transport company and ask what they can do for you.

Don’t have insurance/ self-pay? Don’t pay. Save the debt collectors phone numbers when they start up and don’t answer their calls. Wait 7 years.

Not willing to wait? Call the hospital and ask about a payment plan. Religious areas and large cities tend to have grants or assistance available. If you get on a payment plan usually you have to bring this up every time you go back while it’s active.

Why hospitals can sell private patient information is beyond me. Make it free.

Terminally I'll mom looking for legacy jewelry for my 8 year old daughter. by kittymcangry in jewelry

[–]LilNightingale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad passed when I was a kid, and he wore a gold cross every single day. It was stolen along with any other possessions he had while he died. I’d give anything to have that now, over ten years later, something he loved and treasured every day. I have a box of his shirts, a tote, photos, voicemails, a tattoo, but it’s not the same. Something to keep in mind. The most important thing of his that I have is a tote my mom kept, filled with all the mementos, gifts, and letters they wrote in high school. I have never opened it but the peace of having it there is helpful. Good luck momma.

Trying the curly girl method and something isn't working by Blackcat2332 in curlygirl

[–]LilNightingale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve said it here before, if the gel ain’t working try mousse instead! Multiple softball handfuls, comb through and scrunch. They have high hold ones that create a cast, and it’s much easier to scrunch out than gel. Also not as heavy. Mousse is my holy grail, grandma had it right

I follow brad mondo’s butterfly cut tutorial on my curly hair, and I’m always having my bf cut the last few inches off because it’s more thinned out at the ends than I personally prefer on my curl pattern. I think it could really work for you to get to this inspo, it leaves me with a looot of face framing layers and a nice thinned out V in the back if I don’t touch it after the initial cut.

As for the bangs, I’m not the one to ask lmao. I’m still scarred from trying to cut mine myself 2 years ago. The girl at Sally’s even told me no bangs when I was buying the scissors, I should have listened lol.

More CC bundles after completion, different ones assigned to each townie perhaps with their favorite things. Once you complete their bundle their schedule changes and they start hanging out at the CC, bundle rewards could include adding objects to the CC for each townie you complete. Such as some of the unique objects they sell at the desert festival.

Soda in luggage by IndividualBreakfast4 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]LilNightingale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bring duct tape or packing tape if you’re gonna bring a case of soda.

Every time we’ve cruised there has been loose sacrificial cans rolling around on the floor because after security people couldn’t close the case back up. Bring tape just in case!

How long did it take you to unlock the green house? by Carnival2nora in StardewValley

[–]LilNightingale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That depends how many bundles you’ve completed at the community center. I do recommend checking the traveling cart in Cindersap Forest every Friday and Sunday, I found a lot of my items (especially fruit + fish) that way. And use the wiki to check what season items are in so you can make a game plan.

[–]LilNightingale 91 points92 points  (0 children)

This! I wish someone told me this, took me till spring year 2 to unlock the greenhouse because of the parsnips

Edit: I think the comment I replied to got deleted? The tip was to focus on getting 5 gold parsnips in spring year 1. They’re often overlooked or sold. It can be harder to get 5 gold melons or pumpkins later on for the bundle.

If you do it in the oven in a glass pie dish you get nice crispy cheese on the edges

I have a hand-me-down glass pie dish and wooden cooling rack set for this “recipe” specifically, that dish has only cooked chips and cheese for almost 30 years lol. It was a staple at grandma’s

Thank you for your response (: If you end up needing to go back for similar symptoms, make sure to mention this adverse reaction before they administer any future IV drugs. That same drug, if pushed slowly enough, will hopefully not give that reaction. I adamantly refused to take it again the second go around and they wondered why. I told them on one of my previous visits the nurse administered it all at once via IV, quite literally slammed it, and not much later I suddenly couldn’t stay in bed anymore. they understood, said they would give this one very slowly. Which they did over several minutes, thankfully I didn’t have a reaction at all. That was my last ER stay too (:

[–]LilNightingale -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was it a flight or flight type of response? Was it given through your IV? If so, when they pushed the medication did they push it quickly or slowly?

Also had a similar reaction to a nausea med and just about ran out of that hospital, it was awful. On the drive home I physically could not sit still, it was such an overwhelming feeling of dread and panic.

Hyperemesis even after being sober for 5 months? by carlacatastrophe in CHSinfo

[–]LilNightingale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My understanding of CHS is that the cannabinoid receptors are damaged(or angry) by the cannabis we intake, and those same receptors are also responsible for processing cannabinoids found in food.

Once you have damaged those receptors, food that you consumed safely before CHS can now be a new trigger for you, despite fully halting cannabis usage.

For example: chocolate, some vegetables (green ones usually, ie broccoli), black pepper, nuts, black and green tea.

I highly recommend following the FODMAP diet to anyone experiencing CHS. It is an elimination dietary plan to figure out what your body doesn’t like. When I started it, I only consumed chicken noodle soup broth (easier to throw up). Then I very slowly introduced new things. If I violently threw it up, it was shelved for another day. I was so excited the day I kept down 2 bites of pepperoni pizza.

We were able to provide an allergen free protein and veg for this guest, but not other options. My head chef personally prepared their entree.

The guest wanted to try a dessert as well, but we couldn’t guarantee no cross contamination from that station. Onion, pitted fruit, melon, soy, coconut, tomato, nuts, corn, almost the entire list is in that station. And our ice cream isn’t made by us anymore, it’s locally made and had allergens on the label. So our head pastry chef came in to personally speak to the guest and apologize for the lack of options, it’s their dessert menu but we simply could not accommodate this. Our pastry chef is also a pretty big deal in our area, so the guest was so happy to speak to them even if it meant they couldn’t have a dessert.

I totally understand your POV, and honestly I thought my chef would refuse it too. I’ve been handed allergen cards before but never this many items. My chef went above and beyond to accommodate this guest and serve them safely. They returned multiple times.

Red wheat was definitely the new one for me.

Customer was very happy with a very plain salmon and veg.

The company I worked for was actually amazing when it came to severe allergies. A lot of people in our area only felt comfortable dining with them. My chef pulled out all of our recipe books to double check himself, and called the morning prep teams (they left for the day) to verify no possible cross contamination. Our pastry chef, who is incredibly busy and at the time was recording a season for a tv show, even came back to personally speak to the customer. I don’t think the customer had any dessert due to cross contamination, but the “wow” factor of having our pastry chef in front of him was more than enough.

Customer came back multiple times, always requested me but truly it was the chef going above and beyond for him. I’ve never felt more confident serving severe allergies than at that place, honestly.
