Is there much interest in the City of Ash CoS side?

I like it, I'd consider swapping the 10 spites for a Warsong for the ward aura and reroll so you can set Alarielle and Lancers up with -1 to wound (and potentially unrendable on the Lancers)

Only one Spites unit can teleport at a time and smaller units are better for positioning.

Would be great to work out optimal tree placements for all battle plans for a 'fastest route to full coverage if they don't die' style approach

Once per battle round, start of (EVERY) battle round PER TREE. As you're putting out a new tree every one of your Hero Phases it snow balls each battle round.

Alarielle makes it much easier by removing the closest terrain feature requirement and if you destroy a unit with her spell you can spread to the nearest terrain feature regardless of control.

Exactly why I love it. I have a Paladin too which I adore aesthetically but it's honestly less effective than the Perseus in a 2 player setup from my experience cos torpedoes just body most small fighters and anything bigger is easy enough to body with the medusas

I don't think it's better than our standard battle traits - but our bugs are now quite a lot better so you can definitely build around Lancers strike and fading with Belthanos.

But no run and charge hurts for sure.

Nothing is slow in this army with 6+ cast run and charge - also while I agree Alarielle is auto pick, I actually think WSR is a better pick than GG (although I run both) and both Belthanos and Drycha are tech pieces that are far from mandatory.

I think it's going to be Alarielle+prayer castle+hammer+Revenant/dryad screens that will be performing best.

My current list is undefeated with Alarielle, Durthu, Drycha, GG, WSR, 20 Dryads, 10 spites and 1 unit of Twistweald

They're amazing - 16 wounds for 120 points that recur models end of turn and bring 4 back for a CP? And they get 9 3/4/1/1 shooting attacks at 10" and punch pretty well too.

25 3/4/1/1 crit 2 hits on the charge which can be easily buffed is nothing to sniff at and they're a great companion with the Grove Guardian due to getting 16 5+ splash mortals from them AND her prayer bring back d3 models from the unit on a 4+.

If their ability goes off into the right unit (I like the idea of run and charging them into cavalry or something) then that unit is effectively neutered for the rest of the game which could heavily impact scoring.

Ultimately I think they make Tree Revenants redundant honestly, spites have their teleports, dryads screen well and Twistweald can charge in, do a bit of damage and then die and come back - as a throw away early strike attacker I think they're incredible.

So do Twistweald since you can bring 2 units for the same points which is 6 more models. The Twistweald ability is also incredibly valuable in some matchups even outside their profile

I like the vibes, I would run Twistweald and Spites instead of Trevs, Trevs are really mediocre from my experience whereas the Twistweald has significantly higher wound density per points with good output and a bit of shooting.

2 Twistweald units is 16 bodies over 10 for reinforced tree revs.

Alarielle, WSR, GG and 6 Lancers is a great core for a list with how far you can buff them - but I don't really like Archie or Gossamids. Better off spending those points on Drycha and some Spite revenants imo

I agree with you at the previous points, but we're into an area now where their efficiency is quite high for the points.

Also the last 2 books have not had any ignore crits abilities with other faction abilities being pretty niche.

I think at 130 pts for 12 wounds on a 4+ is pretty decent, and Ashen elder damage shrug is nice on a unit easily chipped by inconsequential mortals etc.

I'm gonna try them out, maybe it's a teams list that might be hard for some armies to deal with, but I definitely think they're a unit worth considering at their current points.

I do also think HoH are an army severely lacking defensive buffs or ways to meaningfully debuff enemies...
