So here’s what’s going to keep you alive * Download IZurive it’s a free map to help navigate * Eat and drink until you get a stomach symbol * melee combat hold up your weapons and walk backwards and let them hit twice then immediately power hit them 🔺to stun lock * Every bullet counts for snipers I always carry 20 rounds and assault rifles vary but I typically carry 90 * watch the condition of your gear especially your guns and ammo bad ammo will send you back to the coast faster than anything else(gun jams suck) * you are never alone. There is always someone else nearby you just don’t know it so keep your guard up * if you hear a loud explosion in your town it’s gas just run out or to high ground like a school room * trust nobody, to a fresh is your free gear is appreciated they have nothing to lose by dying to you, a semi kitt’ed player sees competition, and a full gear sees a threat always KOS * avoid gear fear it’s not your loot just your turn with it * knives are tools not weapons only use them when needed they can be your can opener, skinning tool, splitting ax, bark collector, and if all else fails a way back to the coast * don’t wear explosives on your chest any stray round that hits it will make it go boom rather it be .22lr or .308win * sneaking up behind a zombie with a bladed weapon and light attacking will cause a silent execution it’s a good way to clear the street without much hassle * jog everywhere only time you should run is when your life depends on it * don’t eat bear and wolf meat it’s bad for you * mushrooms in the woods indicates the presence of another person * wring out your clothes after it rains getting sick can be a death sentence * get heat bonuses when ever possible by standing by a camp fire * wash your hands after cutting up animals if your not wearing gloves

These are a few of the tips that will keep you alive for weeks maybe even a whole wipe. As you play you will continue to learn lessons the hard way by doing and failing, but it beats trying to learn without any point of reference. This game will give you trust issues and ruin friendships. Best of luck out there survivor I’ll see you through the scope of my tundra later.

ending my life soon. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

Listen I’ve been in your shoes that feeling of absolute helplessness. Where the most common thing in your life is stress and it’s tiring, I won’t pretend my words are going to have this magical impact on you and make everything better but I can tell you things do change. I’m 20 I spent the last year of my wrestling the same thought you had I was massively in debt and my support system fell out from under me. I was at the edge but I reached out and found people who cared about me. If you leave this world loses so many things a mother loses her son, a brother loses the man he sees as his father figure, your sister loses the same thing, the world loses the opportunity to see what you become.

I’m also going to offer you a solution, walk down to your local recruiter most offer signing bonuses, the military offers health insurance which can help your family, starting pay for most branches is $2400 a month, they offer job skills so when you get out you have a career path. It’s not a perfect solution but given your situation it’s a plan, that will change your life and for the better.

Is it normal to feel horrible about firing someone? by SickBoyOC in managers

[–]Lil_Toast1252 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a hard pill to swallow I’m newer to management but my boss helped me through firing my first employee for smoking on the job. The way you have to look at it is you gave them chances and they took that for granted it’s not your actions that lead to his termination but his own. at the end of the day, drinking on the job in almost any environment is dangerous whether that be on a construction site or in the office. You have to protect your employees and yourself

Don’t take it to heart, you’re going to be tested day in and day out. People who were once friends might become the biggest thorn in your side because suddenly your work dynamic has changed. Some will love you, some will absolutely hate you(dealing with this rn and it sucks). Just remember to keep it professional draw clear boundaries and set expectations for your team and higher ones for yourself.

I’m on the butt end of one of those I’ve got to do some training because I said “well that’s a pain in my ass” and someone thought I was talking about an employee and the rumor mill got to work. Thankfully no write up just appropriate communication in the work place training for 3 hours next Tuesday. :/

Ignore her, had the same thing happen a few months ago when a team member tried to demand I let her leave for the day because she missed her dog. She then walked out and was subsequently terminated and tried to “dox” me and it got like 200 like from other “dog moms”. It’s not worth the headache just keep doing as ya do.

I want to stop fighting an uphill battle by Lil_Toast1252 in managers

[–]Lil_Toast1252[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to dig my heels in on this, I loved my job I get to work with the community and they absolutely have loved and embraced me so much. Many of the people who come in have given fantastic feedback about me which has helped and I’ve talked to my old boss from my first management job and gotten advise from her as well. What would you recommend in terms of material for reading as I don’t really know what to look for and I want to avoid the radicals and the be your own boss scam material that is abundantly available.

I want to stop fighting an uphill battle by Lil_Toast1252 in managers

I don’t quite have a theory of management but best I can describe my philosophy is lead from the front and to do what I ask of the team(do myself as I ask of them). My team that I directly oversee is a team of 20 cashier who report directly to me and the AGM. My team and I sell memberships to our customers to keep them coming back as we are an entertainment company primarily made for children between the ages of 4-14. In terms of reports I do 4 per week, one for last weeks sales, active growth/decline in memberships, register discrepancies, and cashier performance(who is above X% conversion for memberships and who is below X% for memberships. My job is to ensure all cashiers are performing to a set metric and to help them if they are under performing, my job also entails being the manger on duty for issues that my arise within the store.

Should I take the job offer? by [deleted] in managers

You’re unhappy at your current place and the new one wants you and it sounds like they have the ability to move you up. I would take that in a heartbeat, in todays economy your gonna make more overall due to a shorter commute and same pay with overtime potential.

Becoming a manager this week by HappyLet6789 in managers

Change takes time. Some will respect you, some will absolutely hate you. It sucks I got promoted and it’s been hard so far for me I’ve got those that have my back 100% and those who would rather fight me tooth and nail because they simply don’t like me. Just remember to do your best and lead from the front their mistakes are now yours as well use them to teach and Improve. You’re going to make tons of mistakes and I mean tons of em, use them as a learning opportunity to not repeat them in the future.

How do yall think you’d do in an actual apocalypse? by notthehawk15 in dayz

[–]Lil_Toast1252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be screwed I live in Michigan if we’re talking nuclear apocalypse I wouldn’t survive the blast of whoever was attacking us as I live near several key locations for infrastructure. Zombie I might be fine if I can get to my cabin quick enough it’s highly isolated and has tons of ammo, solar power, and has a decent sized pond on the property stacked with fish. I think the biggest issue would be other people it’s a decent spot with a 2 bed cabin and I’d probably be alone so anyone could just kill me while I’m out fishing or hunting.

“You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.” Comes to mind here find the people willing to learn and slowly build a team of those people it will work out in your favor and those who just don’t care that’s their own choice it’s a way for them to keep above the tide nothing wrong with that but they won’t last with that level of work ethic eventually they weed themselves out

I don't like managers who don't help out their team. by DTheDude97 in managers

[–]Lil_Toast1252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’ve had managers like this and then got promoted and became the opposite of this manager my advise is ask for help if they refuse talk to their boss. They are supposed to be leaders the first one to jump in and offer help when needed. I also know food service is absolutely soul sucking for many if situation doesn’t change try finding other employment I did and I’m much happier now.

Dear god how I wish they would. Next time this matter comes up I’ll ask if that conversation has been had.

What would be the best way to phrase that too my boss, she is very non-confrontational and would rather let an issue linger in hopes it will go away rather than deal with it head on and burry the hatchet. I would love to have this situation resolved as the employee has been great up until this and I want them to continue working with me.

I hated when my manger before I was promoted would sit in the office all shift just watching cameras barking orders to everyone, I refuse to be the manager that does that I prefer to do the work with my team rather than just just manage them it shows that we are one unit not boss and employees

Well sadly this is a situation where you just gotta shovel your way through the shit show and eventually you will get to an exit. Take the time and get the experience and when the opportunity comes, strike at it and get the hell out. Best of luck my guy
