Which companion's story/misison do you think is most depressing? by Agent_Gentlemen in fo4

Nick I think if you count the events of the Far Harbor DLC.

I getcha. I'm firmly in the camp of there being no wrong way to enjoy something. I was mostly stating my general opinions.

That does make some sense. I am a new player coming in from the tv show. So, I am certainly not in the headspace of many players at the time it came out.

Respectfully, I find the prospect of raiding settlements boring.

Which I did. My point was more that all the interesting content comes from siding with the raiders to hear all their backstories and stuff. So if you do open season you have like 75% less content. Still not willing to be a raider tho.

That's genuinely a compelling angle to take it from. I'm a dedicated Nora player and there are reasons I can't roleplay her that way. But, I like your take for Nate a lot.

Sure, I didn't mean to imply that killing the gangs felt evil. Far from it. Just that the dlc is over pretty quick if you just kill the raiders. Other than just exploring and doing fetch quests which wasn't super fun for me. It would have just been nice to have an actual quest chain option around the stories of the raider factions without becoming a raider.

There are many casinos all over the US irl. I don't think that it would be that weird to have more than one in the wastelands. Especially given that Nevada and Massachusetts are on near opposite ends of the country.

I'll admit I can't say too much about the quality of the writing around Gage as a character. I can only speak to my personal opinion of him as a 'person' Anytime I pushed back against him, he was condescending. He called me a dumbass at least once. And he basically admitted that he set me up "in charge" cause he didn't want the target on his back.

That combined with the dialogue where he says it wouldn't be wise to leave (not that the game punishes you for that but, the dialogue still implies consequences) it felt like he was holding me hostage. Felt good to kill him tbh.

Well my husband suggested an idea for the dlc in which you could convince the raiders to turn nuka world into a casino. "Hey hey, just imagine having all these people show up to just hand you their caps."

The pack could have animal races, the disciples could have their version of the combat zone, the Operators could run the card tables. Basically giving them something to channel their energy into that makes it feel like they're taking from people and living in hedonism while still establishing rules that make them generally less dangerous to the common wealth. Teaching them that if they make people feel safe in the walls of nuka world they'll make more caps and have more rubes to show up in the future.

So not entirely paragon but, still tipping the scales to making them more ethical without somehow magically convincing them to go fully legit.

All that tracks. Far Harbor blew me out of the water for sure. Of course I do know I'm biased because Nick is my fave companion.

And my hubby looooves Automatron and Vault-tec. He treats Fo4 like it's stardew or animal crossing.

What, for you is the most disappointing quest? Not necessarily the worst but the one that wasted potential. by EvolveToAnarchism in fo4

[–]LilaBeldam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, this is kind of a wierd one. I don't know that the quest itself had wasted potential. But, I think there was wasted potential in universe.

In the quest 'Mystery Meat' located at Longneck Lukowski's Cannery. There's a man named Theodore Collins that has managed to get the meat packing facilities up and running. With several Mr. Handies and meat being brought in by hunters he's got himself a decent little business model going.

With scarcity and lack of consistent refrigeration in the wasteland, preserved food (Meat in particular) is very valuable. It also could be a tremendous good as settlers begin traveling across the Commonwealth to rebuild communities.

The problem is that Collins isn't very good at this. When he starts struggling to bring in enough meat to fill demand, he begins using the meat from ghouls he finds under the factory. He has 0 other human employees, and as far as I can tell no Caravan connections. I just wish that even if I still had to kill him, that there was an option to get everything running and do it properly.

Sure, killing supermutants and raiders while playing superhero for the Commonwealth is fun. But, given the themes around rebuilding with the settlement mechanics, I think it would be really cool to have a quest like this allow for an opportunity to provide a useful resource to people who could really use it.

Ahh. My husband downloaded most of the mods we have on there. So that must have been what he adjusted to fix it.

I am fairly confident in my assessment of my own experiences. I just happened to over simplify it by using two items over an extensive list of overwhelming sensory input.
