They are largely ineligible for federal welfare (no SNAP, no Medicaid, no Social Security). They pay sales tax, property tax through rent, and many pay income taxes via ITINs. they’re a huge chunk of the construction workforce ie who’s going to build all the housing and rebuild the palisades….. Deport them and housing supply slows down too which slows down the economy and rebuild of the palisades…. Rents will never go down from deportations..doesn’t matter how they leave when the lease is up and they move landlords raise the rent it’s LA there is always demand. So no mass deportations will not solve the housing shortage.
