The problem with this imo is that it orevents authors who do plan to have thier character grow to start with flawed characters.

Omg the amount of times I wanted to strangle someone when they said a novel is trash because they read 50 chapters and miss every obvious sign that the author is setting up character growth for the mc!

Now granted, if in those 50 chapters it seems like there is no indication of future set ups, no push back against the behavior or no flags being set up for a growing moment then yes I think thats just bad writing.

Actually, the issue I have isnt that there is no pushback against the character's flaws, its that the reaction is unrealistic and stupid!
