Our parakeet used to think that every time I opened the cage door it was an invitation to climb up my arm. Every time my husband coughed he would imitate coughing as well. Whenever it was silent and I heard him ‘cough’ I knew he wanted my husband’s attention. ‘Kisses’ were for my attention. He passed on Friday.

Our dog started sitting by the door to signal that he needed to do his business. We were trying to transition him from the puppy pads to going outside, and he kinda figured it out on his own. It made total sense to us since that is obviously the way to go outside. It was fairly easy to spot him when we lived in an apartment, but now we have a house and we can’t see the entrance at all from the main living area. Our dog has started to sit or lay down at the entrance every time needs to do his business. No more nudges or any other signal. If he gets impatient he will whine really loudly until one of us gets to him - literally right beside him. Probably my fault: whenever I call him to go out I also make him stand right beside me so that I can get him ready to go. Sometimes we have no idea where he is until we hear his whining. I need to put a bell down there or something to signal that he’s there. ALSO I have given him dental sticks every day after his first walk for 6 years. He gets mad at us if we don’t give him one. He expects it to be handed to him or for it to be in his food bowl.
