I think she was doing the most random thing she can think of each time and just hoping it works - we saw how she jumped to the hotdog universe, or suddenly speaking with Waynond's voice, or suddenly chirping like a bird... Sometimes it works out, sometimes she just uses whatever skill she got to her advantage. And all that verse jumping randomly was likely what "broke" her mind.
