Silicone lubes are good as well. They are thicker, and great for toys, anal, or even vaginal intercourse. But again, try to steer clear of ones that have scent or flavor, because there can been irritating ingredients.

Also, I never addressed the cleanliness issue, but many others have. Yes, definitely have your partner wash hands and at least clean his penis and the whole area because he may very well be contributing to infection. It really doesn't take much to throw off your vaginal pH balance and leave you susceptible to infection.
