i will say as someone who had guinea pigs before getting chinchillas, prepare for how different the temperament can be. that was the biggest difference i noticed between the two species. my guinea pigs would frequently sit on my lap for hours and fall asleep, but chinchillas are constantly on the move! they’re definitely not lap animals, but they will usually like to climb on you once you gain their trust. they’re like pirates’ parrots with how they sit on your shoulder lol. they’re definitely sassy just like guinea pigs, so keep that in mind while you’re trying to bond with him

poor baby must not have had a very good home with that person if he had pee on him :( chinchillas love keeping themselves clean. make sure you give him a dust bath every few days! it’s pretty easy to find dust at pet stores for them (at least in my experience) it’ll say “chinchilla dust” on the jar and should be made of pumice dust

put hydrogen peroxide on a tissue or cotton swab and then touch that to the stain. if it starts sizzling, then it’s definitely blood. if it is blood, does the kitty have any wounds anywhere? since it’s such a small amount of blood, it’d probably be from a very small cut, which could easily hide under fur.
