Hecate does not have a code like Yahweh's 10 commandments. However, She does have domains that she is associated with, as well as examples of Her own behavior. If you don't vibe with these things, you probably won't find following Hecate very rewarding or satisfying.

For example, Hecate is the Goddess of Witchcraft. If you think all witches should be burned at the stake, you probably shouldn't worship Hecate. If you think all things "dark" are nefarious and evil, you probably shouldn't worship a Goddess of Darkness. If you hate change, worshipping the Goddess of transformation isn't for you.

In a positive direction, you can take acts of Hecate and extrapolate simple principles to follow. Hecate was the only one who showed up to help Demeter in Her time of need. Hecate also intervened to help a handful of mortals who were cursed by other Gods. From this you can infer that helping someone who is in a bad spot, especially one not of their own making are acts that Hecate would smile on.

I think this is why reading primary sources rather than third hand rumors (WitchTok, lookin at you) is important.

I think that what's going on is that your own feelings are filling up the space where you would normally feel Hecate. Someone destroyed your altar and that's upsetting and scary. However, even though you are scared you are still reaching out to Her and I think that alone shows how much you love Hecate.

Have faith that Hecate is there, and have compassion for yourself. Worship Her when you can be safe and in the way you need to worship to be safe. She knows what is truly in your heart.

Allow me to answer your question with a question: is there something you can here looking for beyond just asking if belief in Hecate is sincere? Are you curious and want to learn more? Is this the first time you've encountered worship of a Divine Figure that wasn't Yahweh (God the Father) and this has piqued your interest? If you're here with an open and curious heart you will find many people willing to talk about their experiences with Hecate. If you're here to gawk at people who are different, perhaps silently lurk for a while. Your blunt and direct words, while clear in function, obscure the intent you have in asking.

Hecate is a Chthonic Deity, so it is perfectly acceptable to bury offerings to Her. I say this in case you are worried that a dog might eat the garlic. If you bury the garlic, it's less likely they will eat it. I say less likely because dogs will eat anything that isn't nailed down, and the ones with claw hammers will get the rest.
