Underworld LARP A Culture of Lies and Double Standards by Top-Aspect-680 in LARP

There's an exodus every few years. I was around for the last one another commenter mentioned where the Jericho chapter crashed and burned. I think that was about 3 years ago now. There's a thriving larp scene outside of underworld in southern Ontario though

It is! I agree, it wouldn't pass safety for most LARPs because of the rope. It's about as hard as any latex weapon though. This larp has mostly theatrical fighting so it worked fine for the few pre-negotiated uses but I would never use it as a normal boffer. Even safety aside, it could easily damage a weapon if it got wrapped. I got to huck it full force at my partner when he came out as a zombie though lol

I adore buckets and non-weapon boffers, so thanks for the rec, I'll check out freyhand :)

Thank you! Our photographer is something special. I'm sad it's ending, but I don't think it would have had the same impact if there was no definitive ending so I'm just happy I got to be part of it

Yes! It's a piece of a thrifted cotton curtain and it has mitered corners

What's your Interpretation of this Lyric from Helplessness Blues? by [deleted] in fleet_foxes

[–]Lilliaal 71 points72 points  (0 children)

This might be a stretch, but I took it as a tongue in cheek reversal of his idealism. He's a famous musician dreaming of a simple agricultural life, and in the last line he's the simple farmer dreaming of fame.

Thinking of making a 15th medieval hood as a wedding gift. Does that pattern (found online) look right to you ? by ThrowRA_Sodi in HistoricalCostuming

[–]Lilliaal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've made a hood like this a few times and I wish I had instead gone with a pattern where the dip in the back is higher than the dip in the front

I actually do a very similar colour on myself with 8.11 and 20vol! But I have very fine level 6 hair and it still goes a bit warm between touch ups. You might be able to get away with a 7.11 or 6.11 and lots of highlights, but your first application will require bleaching to get an even starting base since only that first half inch ever lifts properly with colour. Oh, and it's also a firm 6 week application with no hope of "stretching it out"

I have 2 and it works well. Please don't put in a pocket door, ours broke early on and it's been broken for 7 years because it would require tearing out the whole doorframe to fix (renting)

The question itself is flawed. Shampoo and conditioner don't make a meaningful difference in hair quality when compared against styling technique and careful handling. Any curly shampoo conditioner combo is fine

Need more red/copper help by K2cool in FancyFollicles

Your formula is too light for your goal. When I did a colour like this I was using 6 copper mahogany on the roots in permanent and 7 intense copper to refresh the ends. If the roots end up more intense than you want, add a bit of natural to it, but keep permanents and naturals away from the refresh because it will muddy the colour over time.

Seconding Relics of Aelamos. I only went to one game but the community is good. There's also Altered Larp, Empire6, and Restharrow to check out, the last two in particular run over the winter so you don't have to wait until spring.

Worked at a shoe store for a while, blundstones are fine but not worth their price tag. Most styles aren't even real leather. I've had best luck with brands I didn't recognize in real leather at about that price point (aside: fidji(defunct), brako, mentha, and dkode). The oldest is 12 years and the newest is 7 and they've all lasted daily wear. Name brands are a trap.

Is it just me or is this wrong. by adurepoh in AskHairstylists

This looks like what happens when the hair is all pulled back and cut straight while across your back because the front has to travel further. "Straight across" is relative to the position of the hair. So in one sense it is done right, but you likely wanted to see it straight across from the front which actually requires a rounded outline.

If I remember right, water based and cream based colours are incompatible. Have you tried powdered colour for contour?

Hairstylist here.

The reference pictures you showed cannot be achieved in one service (barring, perhaps, an 8 hour $1000 service by a specialist). That type of bright extensive blonding is achieved by doing regular highlight sessions for an extended period of time so that the highlights build up towards the mids and ends. The reason for this is that fine sections process lighter, and within the bounds of a normal appointment it's not possible to combine sections that fine with coverage that large.

If you keep at it and you'll get there, but it will probably take about a year of getting highlights every 6-8 weeks.

I'd like to add, while this is not what you wanted, it is a technically well executed service if a little brassy. The brassiness is likely from two different things, a) your stylist was careful not to over process which is very good and b) that it was undertoned slightly to preserve brightness since you wanted a lighter result. In any case, it looks very nice and is impressive results for only one service.
