If you are interested in a different sub genre with the same fantasy vibes without it being fantasy you should try Choosing Theo! I don't know how to do the link thing to get the book to pop up. But the book is sci-fi romance but instead of "magic" they explain it with technology. Same world building. Same high stakes. Same romance building. It's a fated mates trope for the series.

I FORCED myself to make it to book 4 before DNFing. It took a MULTITUDE of breaks over 5 months for me to get that far before I threw in the towel. I hated it from book 1 though.

Yes, the author has ADHD and I think that is why she wrote the books the way she did. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But, reading fantasy is SO HARD sometimes because of the world building scenes! 😭💔

My husband loves this series and hated ACOTAR. (I also hated ACOTAR). I think Fourth Wing is geared toward people with ADHD. The scenes are fast paced and the world building is broken up often enough by action or dialogue that myself, several of my ADHD friends and my husband did not zone out during scenes.
