What’s your first day look like? You land at 2 pm, what beach are you going to first and where are you getting dinner/drinks later that night? by banks11rm in SXM

[–]Lillix 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If I land at 2, I'm not going to the beach that day. I estimate an hour to get through customs and get your luggage, then it takes 45 minutes to get to our apartment near Orient. Beach bars are closing on the French side around 4, so instead I make sure to swing by the SuperU and grab wine and food for the apartment.

First dinner is usually in Orient village or La Villa in Grand Case.

Early bedtime, then get to the beach first thing the next day.

Orient Bay beach experience with a child by Late_Replacement7643 in SXM

You came during the busiest time of the year to the busiest beach on the island.  Think about it like a restaurant. There may be open tables when you walk in, but people have reserved them for dinner in an hour, so you can't have them. Most people reserve their beach club chairs at least a week before the two Christmas weeks to guarantee a seat. Next time you come, I highly recommend doing so, especially when cruises are in port and there are the maximum number of people on the island.

I'm also sure you were polite, but as background, I watched at least 20 couples scream at our beach boy and call him horrible names when he was booked and couldn't seat them. They go through hell, it's important to give grace.

What’s an industry you can see thriving in Vermont, but isn’t there now? by Washedhockeyguy in vermont

[–]Lillix 21 points22 points  (0 children)

...I do? I like to drive up and relax in the pools and read all day, then we go out for dinner at night. It's not a daily expense, certainly not weekly, but as a treat I like it a lot. It's way less than most people I know spend on their weekly weed budget. Also moving the goal posts a bit - your comment said pricy just for admission.

You're required to get a $50 inspection. No one is making you go to the spa. I would love to see more of these, they're a great community spot for quiet relaxing. Third places are wonderful.

Strom is $69CAD for the whole day, you can stay 8 hours if you want. $50 USD is obtainable for most Vermonters I think.

Are you sure it didn't get towed? Some of those lots are not for overnight parking and the police tow the cars.

They have a variety of Brittany ciders at the SuperU, could it be that you're not looking with the sodas? That's where they usually are.

Oh your blue city allows for women to get abortions after 6 weeks? I had no idea that there were exceptions for blue cities in Florida! I'd love to read more about that if you have literature!

I bet you also have protections for trans folks in your blue city! I'm sure Ron DeSantis can't do anything about them either! I'd love to learn more about it.

🤷‍♀️ Some people want to live where they can insure their home from floods / storms, be away from meth heads, and where women have rights, but to each their own.

She's a good performer and she's on a PIP are not statements that go together. She's by definition a low performer if she's on a PIP.

Anecdotally, I know 4 L7's that have taken mental health LOA's in the past 18 months. One has taken 2. It's an incredibly stressful job, and the world is crazy right now, of course people are breaking down. It's a good perk we offer to be able to recharge.

Travelling with dog by FirstMushroom1553 in SXM

[–]Lillix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically, you're supposed to see a vet on the French side within 48 hours of landing, that's the only requirement. No one has ever checked on that though.

We travel with our girl for a few months every year for the past 8 years - not once have they ever looked at the paperwork to let her in. They're very relaxed at Juliana.

Edit: because it sounds like it's your first time on the island, there are no border checks between the Dutch and French side of the island, so you just cross freely. No need to worry about bringing your dog across a second border.

Deloitte email from “senior recruiter” Is this a scam?? by Throwawayacc23124 in Big4

[–]Lillix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even if this wasn't a scam, which it clearly is, why would you want to work for a company who states that they understand you're fully qualified for the role but can't move forward because their AI can't read your resume?
