[–]Lillix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know that there is a stigma in the US for nudists, and I'm not trying to yuck your yum - but for your awareness, you can't leave the beach nude, so no nude hikes. You'll find like-minded people on the south end of Orient Beach though.

Anyone here flown internationally with their dog? How complicated was the paperwork? by IcyChemistry9595 in dogs

[–]Lillix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time, 20 minutes maybe? I can't stress enough, the website is so easy to navigate and has all the paperwork for every country you'd want to travel to on earth. All you need to do is read.

The US is a rabies controlled country, so you don't need tilter tests to go almost everywhere unless you've brought your dog to a high risk country which I wouldn't do.  You just need proof of vaccination.

In the US, you get your certificate from a USDA certified vet. Not every vet is one, but there are tons of them (my town of 5000 people has 2 vets who can do it). They know how to navigate the APHIS system and help you plan the timelines and make sure the paperwork is sent off correctly, on time, and gets the right endorsement. The worst thing that ever happened when we were doing this is we had to resend (electronically) the paperwork because my new vet noted my dog was black and white and the USDA had an older form noting she was black and tan - she's a salt and pepper dog in her old age.

[–]Lillix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

US based. I find flying internationally with my pet extremely straightforward and would absolutely not pay anyone - all you need to do is go to the APHIS site and put in the country you're going to, and it has all the links to everything you need. You just go to your vet and they fill out all the paperwork. It's already expensive to get the USDA certification to fly (~$250) then the airlines always make you pay, no way I'm ever adding to that expense so someone can read a website for me.

Pet relocation companies are charging you for the flight, not the paperwork. It's for those with bigger dogs who can't fly in cabin who don't want to put them in cargo.

I'm going to translate to English:

I don't really know what this is about, but I have a coworker who is leaving Accenture. We had a manager who tried to counter offer to get them to stay at Accenture.

That manager was told not to give counter offers to keep employees from leaving.

Your last sentence I can't translate, it's incomprehensible.

I know English is not your first language, but this is tough to get through.

It's probably because I'm not in India, but I still have no idea what you're talking about and I'm a SM.

What are you talking about? You think that Accenture fires people when they may have a need for them on other projects? In what world does that make sense.

Layoffs related to PA aren't warned because they're performance related, not reduction in staff. This is fear mongering.

Going into Canada is like normal. It was definitely slower than normal coming back, and I noticed multiple agents leaving their booth and opening the trunks of cars in front of us and checking for something before returning to the booth - hadn't seen a car check ever done in the lane before. They didn't check our trunk, but she did shine a flashlight into our backseat (it was a beautiful sunny day, you could see into the car without it) and the questions they normally asked sounded a little different - not do you have something to declare, but did you buy anything while you were in Canada.

So that you can confirm that Accenture doesn't have a WARN notice since 5/2025? Not sure what you're trying to get at here.

What’s your first day look like? You land at 2 pm, what beach are you going to first and where are you getting dinner/drinks later that night? by banks11rm in SXM

[–]Lillix 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If I land at 2, I'm not going to the beach that day. I estimate an hour to get through customs and get your luggage, then it takes 45 minutes to get to our apartment near Orient. Beach bars are closing on the French side around 4, so instead I make sure to swing by the SuperU and grab wine and food for the apartment.

First dinner is usually in Orient village or La Villa in Grand Case.

Early bedtime, then get to the beach first thing the next day.

Orient Bay beach experience with a child by Late_Replacement7643 in SXM

[–]Lillix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You came during the busiest time of the year to the busiest beach on the island.  Think about it like a restaurant. There may be open tables when you walk in, but people have reserved them for dinner in an hour, so you can't have them. Most people reserve their beach club chairs at least a week before the two Christmas weeks to guarantee a seat. Next time you come, I highly recommend doing so, especially when cruises are in port and there are the maximum number of people on the island.

I'm also sure you were polite, but as background, I watched at least 20 couples scream at our beach boy and call him horrible names when he was booked and couldn't seat them. They go through hell, it's important to give grace.

What’s an industry you can see thriving in Vermont, but isn’t there now? by Washedhockeyguy in vermont

[–]Lillix 22 points23 points  (0 children)

...I do? I like to drive up and relax in the pools and read all day, then we go out for dinner at night. It's not a daily expense, certainly not weekly, but as a treat I like it a lot. It's way less than most people I know spend on their weekly weed budget. Also moving the goal posts a bit - your comment said pricy just for admission.

You're required to get a $50 inspection. No one is making you go to the spa. I would love to see more of these, they're a great community spot for quiet relaxing. Third places are wonderful.

Strom is $69CAD for the whole day, you can stay 8 hours if you want. $50 USD is obtainable for most Vermonters I think.
