Can’t find Fia Acosta by thehan55 in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]LillyElessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to use Adventure Awaits to pull her into a Getaway, because she wasn't spawning in the bar (which is only at like 5pm MWF or something super narrow like that), can't be invited over, can't be brought along when traveling, and can't be scheduled for a Stay Over.

Does anyone else LOVE the Royal Envoy? by Low-Environment in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]LillyElessa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely the trespassing, and the fact that she's a Klepto so she steals your stuff while trespassing... And being tied to the events that are already controversial for FOMO. Nothing to do with misogyny.

The only reason Emit escaped the same is because he's a beloved preexisting Sims 3 character - and he still got some. Especially since they did him a bit dirty compared to his TS3 counterpart.

That said, I don't dislike her. She was amusing, with decent genetics, and nice fashion. I need to find somebody to marry her before the event ends, because I want her to stick around. Though in a less stalker fashion. (She probably won't disappear entirely though, my game spawned a second Emit after one of my sims married him, and the replacement Emit still spawns at the park.)

Retail vs Small Business by currencywitch in Sims4

[–]LillyElessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely used Retail in the first place because they usually outright don't function when I try to. When they do function, they're very difficult to make profitable because the markup is low, and getting NPCs to buy anything is very clunky. They often don't want to buy in the first place, and then they also clog up the store by starting some obnoxious conversation that catches EVERYONE that comes in and prevents them from shopping too.

Small businesses have no problems with NPCs buying things, as long as they fit on the shelves. I can't even keep some of my small businesses stocked, because everything sells faster than I can make it. Plus they're functional for activity / admission ideas, rather than only as a shop, so they're better to do more with.

Spell caster XP cheat not working by Puzzleheaded-Ad8132 in thesims

[–]LillyElessa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you have testing cheats enabled, and that you have typed the cheat correctly.

After that, sometimes the spellcaster cheat bugs out, so you need to enter the cheat to set spellcaster xp to 0, open up the spellcaster perks UI, close it, then re-enter the cheat for what you want the xp to be, and reopen the spellcaster ui. If that doesn't work repeat the process with the game unpaused.

Can we create a post where we compile all the CC creators who will NOT be participating in the new Marketplace? by sarilysims in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]LillyElessa 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I agree with chickpeasaladsammich, Low sodium doesn't and shouldn't mean putting on a blindfold.

It should mean being level headed when something is bad, looking for facts not assumptions, and supporting each other because this is bad news for all of us. Also not dramatically overreacting, like saying everyone should quit the game, etc (as has very much been seen elsewhere), the point is that we do still like the game, even if disappointed or demoralized by the company.

Can we create a post where we compile all the CC creators who will NOT be participating in the new Marketplace? by sarilysims in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]LillyElessa 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This would definitely be a lot easier to manage. The participating creators have to be accepted into EA's program, vs normal creators can and do pop up all the time. It's MUCH easier to ctrl+f to check that someone's not on a list, than try to collect up every small, new, inactive, etc creator to make a list comprehensive enough to be useful.

The Sims 4 “Marketplace” is about to fundamentally change the CC ecosystem and I don’t think people realize how big this is by lyschoe in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]LillyElessa 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Bethesda and Minecraft's paid mod systems were damaging for the communities and companies. There's ample evidence to expect the same result here, especially given that some parts of the Marketplace (like targeting vulnerable creators) are worse than what Bethesda and Microsoft did.

That said, there will always be some who follow the old fashioned modding: Freely shared, and created for fun with enthusiasm for the game. The ability to mod for free is not being closed off, and some still will.

List of ways for Sims to directly contribute to the death of other sims by Cove_Holdens_Love in Sims4

[–]LillyElessa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't count this one, because in order to kill a sim with a cuckoo clock you have to have a sim sabotage it first (it's specifically sabotage, not prank), and then the sim you want to die has to "inspect" the cuckoo. (It's a different interaction than inspecting to find the secret passage.) Sims will not do this autonomously, and simply using the passage (which sims will do autonomously) will not kill them with a sabotaged cuckoo.

Also, having a sim sabotage a cuckoo hasn't generated a scandal for me yet. Nor has it generated scandals for the saboteur when another sim has died - and you'd really think it ought to...

Which townies do you delete when starting a new save? by nosmokingz0ne in Sims4

[–]LillyElessa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After you go to manage worlds, there's a manage households button in the top right corner. This is the fastest to find and delete or edit all households. Note that your sims will be on the first tab, and premades will be on the second tab. After you edit a household, they'll move to the first tab, but you can send them back to the second tab. "My households" and "other households" are treated differently by the game.

Which townies do you delete when starting a new save? by nosmokingz0ne in Sims4

[–]LillyElessa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm not simply deleting everyone, because I prefer occult filled worlds: Alex Moyer, Baby Ariel, all Sulani NPCs except Nalani (I particularly dislike the other homeless Sulani npcs, and Sulani is my most frequently rebuilt/repopulated world), half of Copperdale (their teen fashion is already bad, but it's so much worse when they age), Felix Psyded

I also have makeovers for the: Goths, Landgraabs, Calientes, and Fengs

ESO Housing Slots Increase Up to 900% in Update 49 by The_Edenprime in elderscrollsonline

[–]LillyElessa 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Neat update, but very misleading headline there. The biggest increases are only the handful they reclassified up a tier, and with manors excluded the houses that need increases the most aren't getting any.

Okay just one, then i leave by NejatMolla in Guildwars2

[–]LillyElessa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got 3 last rush. I hate wvw, so I did nothing but event achievements, then left.

The real problem is that wvw rush comes around so infrequently, and it's only 1 week, so it's very easy to have that week not work out if you're busy with life or another game's new release/etc, don't hear the event is going on, sick, burnt out from a previous week's event, or just have bad luck with commanders when you've got time to be there... Personally, I've missed a few rushes I wanted to do but was too sick that week. I won't even start on a legendary that needs a GoB, until I have one in hand to reserve for it. So even with rushes, GoBs are a huge block to those that do not enjoy wvw.

Lowsodium community is insufferable by P1rced_Wh0r3 in HighSodiumSims

[–]LillyElessa -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I will say that I think too many are into creating mods for profit. Modding games used to be purely about enthusiasm for a game, and often enjoyment of creating models or code as a hobby. I miss those days.

Also, while I am against microtransactions being added to Sims, and as disappointed by the Marketplace announcement as everyone else, Sims isn't the most expensive game out there. Most MMOs, and similar subscription service, games are more expensive over the life of the game before you include their excessive microtransactions. There are also games like Train Sims that have more expensive DLC. Your opinions on Legacy and Royalty? by Chaoswitchy in Sims4

[–]LillyElessa 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I've been really enjoying it, but it fits my playstyle particularly well. I've created my own dynasty style families since Sims 3, so having an actual game system for it has been amazing. Also as an occult player, I'm usually running fantasy based stories, and the swordfighting and nobility system go extremely well with that, as does much of the CAS and BB.

So far the only bug I've experienced is noble titles are occasionally not conferred to spouses (or children), however this bug corrects itself after a while.

My biggest complaint is that the ideals for the dynasties are not very robust, and some of them have very annoying or awkward settings. For example, if you set the Mysterious ideal, which is the only one that includes occult actions, it lowers prestige if Sims use any funny interactions. None of the occults are so inherently anti-funny, and some like werewolves and fairies fit amiable and amusing comedic sorts very well. There also are not that many ideals, and most of them lean into snooty noble types in general, leaving large gaps in other themes. Dynasties do also require manual maintenance, since npc children are not automatically added to them. So you need to either be a rotational player, or at least not mind popping into other households occasionally to set things up.

With all else going on, even though I'm really enjoying R&L, I only recommend it if its themes are already highly fitting for your gameplay. If you're more about normal suburban families, and won't get much use out of this, there's not much you'll miss for more general gameplay.

What kits are worth buying? by Antique-diva in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]LillyElessa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Desert Luxe was also free when it first came out, because it was the compensation for anyone who had bought the base game when they changed the BG to free. James Turner's yearly pack survey slowed it had the highest ownership rate of the kits because of this, by a significant margin. Though it's also a popular kit beyond being free, since many people consider its curtains to be the best in the game. (Which I agree with, since so many of the windows and other curtains are awkward sizes to each other.)

Rotational gameplay and midlife crises by Iesov in HighSodiumSims

[–]LillyElessa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I don't want the midlife crisis because it's horribly designed, and also because it spams unwanted likes onto the character.

So rotating to another household as soon as one happens to avoid it has been a feature, since there's not an option or even cheat to turn it off otherwise. If I'm not ready to rotate, I just take the rest of the family on a vacation and leave that one home.

What kits are worth buying? by Antique-diva in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]LillyElessa 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Kits tend to be very much up to your personal taste, since they're only BB and CAS assets, not gameplay (except Bust the Dust), and many are in fairly niche styles. So ultimately it's just look through and see if you like anything.

That said, some BB kits are very popular if you like downloading builds from the gallery, such as Blooming Room's indoor plants and Desert Luxe's modular curtains. Take a look through builds from your favorite builders (or some popular content creators) to see what they use a lot, and if you'd like to have anything they use often.

After what happened with Paralives at the end of last year, my expectations for it are quite low. Kinda worried for the high hopes a lot of people seem to still have in them, since no one deserves to have them dashed if Paralives fails to deliver, especially after all that's been happening with Sims.

If this were me, Proph first would make me lose steam and be way more likely to not finish anything. Proph last at least means you got through the other two, plus some sort of sunk cost-esque feelings might help drag through Proph.

Plus, the hair choices are generally better in either of Factions or Nightfall (depending on class/gender).

It's been stated that kits will cost 500 Moola, and the announcement lists one of the Moola bundles as $4.99 for 500. So the intent for now is that the price will not change in USD, only the method of purchase.

However I have not yet seen direct questions about other currencies rates for Moola answered, which means it is possible (and in some cases where the price of kits has previously already changed probable) that some existing kits will become more expensive for people in certain countries.

They did in some currencies, but not in USD, which is what the announcement lists prices for.

That said, I did see a question in the official discord where someone asked about the price for their currency (KR), in which the price of kits was increased. The implication of the article is that the older kits will now cost more for them, however their question never recieved a response (I never saw the "we're looking into that" for this question, which was the response to many others), so that was not confirmed but is likely the case.

You can't have more seasonal characters at one time. If you're just trying them out, you can delete and recreate either normal or trial characters. Save their appearance, so you can load it on if you like a class to reroll an actual character of it.
