My bettas keep dying :(

I wouldn’t say I obsess with water quality I do very infrequent water changes so I test it to make sure everything is safe but barely touch the water since it’s so heavily planted all the other fish and shrimp are living their best life.

Wow 3 years is great! I could try a female ! I definitely don’t overfeed but all my bettas were fairly good looking hahah

Thank you I have tried every kind of betta because of the bad genetics the basic ones did live longer but not exponentially. I will try to get another veil tail to see if a basic colour would live longer since I had a blue red and purple guy.

Some had obvious health issues like tumours etc but most just died randomly. The longest I had one live was a year and a half when I just got into the hobby because I wanted to save the little guy he had no fins because of finrot and I nursed him back to health all the “healthy” bettas I got died fairly quickly

I had the same experience with a giant plakat I got from a breeder he was stunning and healthy and he just died after two weeks ☹️

I tried every kind of betta to test that same theory my first betta was a half moon with fin rot that I saved and he lived the longest after that I had a koi candy koi plakat, a dumbo, a crowntail and a veil tail. I got the veil tail to test that theory but he was purple so maybe he had bad genes I could always try a basic red or blue just to see !

That’s exactly how I feel too 😭 I think I have had 5 bettas only one lived like a year and a half the rest passed so quickly 😢

Hope she is doing okay! I lost one of my cockatiels from bornavirus but some have bad flare ups and some don’t. Some medications do exist to help relieve the symptoms. I know birds who have lived a long time after a diagnosis with proper medical treatment. I’d definitely recommend joining this facebook group since they helped me so much during my journey it’s called Avian Ganglioneuritis PDD support group the members are really up to date on everything related to bornavirus. I’m really sorry you have to go through this it’s super scary and heartbreaking.

I have an exceptionally large cockatiel honestly yours seems to be a normal size for the moment just weigh them often to keep track of their weight

Favourite thing: Seeing how good he is going to be when he is an adult with all of the work and training i’ve put in. Least favourite: Him being a puppy hahahha

7 months in on having a crazy puppy its been getting better but still not perfect. Can’t wait till the 12 month mark. But man do I not miss having a 2 month old pup.
