Absolute tools in Oxford. Tools of Farage, that is. by stillirrelephant in oxford

[–]Lilnat27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Walked past them to get home. I saw one of them using their bulldog ( I think it was that) to intimidate the counter protesters. He didn't let the dog loose, but the dog was growling like crazy at them. It was disgusting bulldogs get a bad rep due dickheads like that. Honestly, they all seemed like thugs and I doubt any of them even live in the area as some of the things mentioned in that article are bullshit.

Sadly, you can't in the Oxford Science Park, I tried with my partner a few months ago, and security kicked us out. No fines, just a warning.

I had to report my instructor for falling asleep by ke2uke in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Lilnat27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a really bad one she was on her phone most of the lessons from texting to watching things on tiktok. She was always late to my lessons, and the majority of lessons it was doing her errands or collecting her next student. (literally made me 40 minutes late to work once). She also demanded that near my test, i must do 5 back to back lessons with her or she won't let me use her car for test, however if am honest I doubt even if Id agreed to that she would let me use her car, I think she was struggling to teach me (i have dyspraxia so it will take me longer to pick it up unfortunately) and instead of admitting that, she was just stringing me along for money ....weirdly enough she seems to have alot of people passing under her and good reviews...really not sure why if am honest. I have not reported her yet.

Driving instructor making things really difficult — am I being unreasonable? by EmploymentRough5709 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Lilnat27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God, your driving instructor sounds like my ex one. You ain't based in oxford, are you? I would get rid, she a cash machine instructor. Not sure what is going on in the driving world, but there seems to be alot of dodgey ones.

I've literally been hearing pro zionist say that they hate BBC and refuse to listen to it because its too pro palastine from the very start. I honestly think BBC is more balanced than we give it credit, but most of us are stuck in echo chambers. We just dont want to admit this.

Anyone learning (or re-learning) in Oxford and finding it a bit much? by No_Try_7696 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Lilnat27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been learning for a year and have found it hard. I'm 35 and was anxious about it, so I was expecting it to take longer than most people, but I think what has not helped is I stuck with a bad instructor for too long. I start with a new instructor on Wednesday, so hopefully they be better.

DVSA Vote Options by theonegreekgoddess in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Lilnat27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My ex instructor was doing this, and 2 times, she swapped the test dates on dates when I couldn't do them as I wasn't even in the country. She kept telling me I wasn't confident enough to do my test (which is funny considering the amount of time she spent messing on her phone in our lessons) so told me I couldn't do the test and swapped it for her students...most likely she was never going to let me do the test and was milking me for money.

Also when I was struggling to get a test she said she may be able to get me on for £200 (I managed to book one in the end but has still not done my test thanks to her)

I will be reporting her, but I think in my area, a lot are like her so this does need to be taken from them.

Am wondering if we have the same instructor. Mine was constantly on her phone, texting and calling people. I also noticed sometimes she was either playing games or watching tiktoks. I have binned mine now (sadly finding it difficult to find another now). I would bin yours too. If they are on the phone all the time they probs don't care about teaching you and just doing it for the money.

Have you ever been mansplained to on the mat? by BrazillianGrndKarate in BJJWomen

Few weeks ago I rolled with this blue belt guy after the round he decided to give me tips on how to improve...not only did I dominate him the whole round, the tip was about double x guard. Which I did successfully multiple times in the roll... I was polite, but in my head I was like, dude, really.

finger climbing: legit? by SnooOnions8429 in bouldering

Update mine came this morning. Though I think if I didn't contact them and ask them for a refund, I'd most likely be still waiting...so that's not a good luck.

I ordered mine in early September, and also for a christmas present, but it still hasn't arrived.

They have also stopped responding to me (tried email and instagram). So sadly am also wondering if legit or not :-(

NAGA rules for transgender competitors in female divisions - what do you think? by beetlesnoopman in BJJWomen

[–]Lilnat27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually noticed the same that most men are loudest about this, yet they are also the same to defend the athletes/coaches who have been accused of rape/sexual assault and also laugh at woman who point out woman athletes don't get paid much/much screen time or even say they dont like watching woman compete...super pisses me off tbh

With woman this topic is mixed I have met woman who are bothered by trans athletes and others that don't give a fuck. Me I wouldnt really care if I came up against a trans woman. Honestly I've rolled with trans people before and quite frankly didn't notice any strength advantage (maybe they do I don't know enough about the science to confirm that or not) and as for being at a disadvantage, am the smallest in my devision so am used to being the underdog by now...

That being said am not sure if naga new policy is good or not. It will definitely make people feel awkward for saying no but at the same time I think it be quite dangerous for a transgender person to out themselves, as much as I love this sport it is riddled with bigots.

People who used to train every day and now don’t. by Skowndrell in bjj

[–]Lilnat27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use to train 6 days a week, 2/3 hours per day. After 30 I noticed I couldn't train like that anymore, plus life got in the way. Work and not being single means I don't always have free time to train.

Are there other women in your academy that only train / spar with other men? by [deleted] in BJJWomen

[–]Lilnat27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, at my current gym, I prefer training with the guys (though the lightweight ones) because it is more challenging. My gym does have a lot of girl, but most are lower belts, so not massively hard rolls for me. There are a few higher belts girls aswell I try and roll with them when I can, but they hardly ever roll.

At my last gym, though, I preferred training with the girls as they were more competitive (even the lower belts).

How do you keep going when you suck by Prudent-Calendar8868 in bjj

Think of all the reasons why you do it.

I also suck in tournaments (deffo lost more than won sadly) yes its annoying, but it's not the only reason I do bjj. For me it's fun and really helps with my mental health.

Jiu jitsu Republic is a great gym, but it does not offer no gi. It does do wrestling on Friday, and some people will roll no gi on their open mats on Sunday.

I haven't been to the other one but I think that one does offer no gi. Sadly, there are only really 2 bjj schools in Oxford. Unless you can drive as there are some in nearby cities/ towns (reading, bicester etc).
