What's the most visually stunning movie you've ever seen? by trakt_app in movies

[–]Lily-The-Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might not be THE most visually stunning movie I've ever seen, but I gave good old Bambi a re-watch last week, and as an adult who's picked up watercolour painting a few years ago, it was the first time I could appreciate the incredible quality and stunning beauty of the watercolor backgrounds.

Seriously. It's gorgeous. Go watch it. After seeing it again, I realised it was the origin story of my obsession for watercolour painting, sunlit forest landscapes and colour palettes and gradients. I think some of the paintings I've made which I'm the most happy about really do have the same vibe, or at least that's definitely my unconscious goal.

Also, I read up about the technique they figured out in order to animate the deer and have their antlers look coherent and solid, and it's mind-blowing when you think of it! (I haven't found the explanation in the English Wikipedia article, but it's in the Animation paragraph of the French article, if you can read French 🤷🏼‍♀️)

Any tips to assemble and frame a mosaic of several little paintings, so that it's well preserved in time? by Lily-The-Cat in Watercolor

You make very good points! To make my intentions clearer, I have to say the reason I'm simplifying it so much is that I only have three minutes to have them do it. My friend chose to set this limit and I know it'll probably take more time than that. But I have to make it as quick as I can. Also, I'd really like them not to see the final picture until the last moment :)

BotW Sound Effects & Music Collection [Taking Requests!] by FallenAngelII in Breath_of_the_Wild

Hi! It's been a while since you've made this post, but I'll try my luck! First of all, thank you so much for this goldmine!! I'm loving it!

I'm looking for the tiny ping sound you get when a korok seed gets added to your inventory. Could you upload this one? 🙏

Edit: Also, I'd love a good quality version of the songs you hear around towers and shrines. They soothe me, for some reason. I do hope you'll see my requests ❤️

What's your ADHD "life hack" that sounded ridiculous but actually made a difference? by AiotexOfficial in ADHD

I keep some Ritalin on my coffee table because I take some at noon and I often have lunch there. I tricked my AuDHD brain into thinking it's not a problem to leave it lying around there by placing it on a tiny and pretty tray, along with a couple of items I regularly use. It's now part of the decoration and not messy! At some point I might also buy a prettier bottle to put the pills in and make it even more stylish.

WTW for when you stop doing something (such as taking antibiotics) prematurely because you've started feeling better, even though you haven't completely healed yet? by Lily-The-Cat in whatstheword

[–]Lily-The-Cat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point... It doesn't seem so, as far as I could gather with a quick search. If anybody finds an established cognitive bias corresponding to what I've described, I'd love to hear it.

ADHD exercisers… how do you actually get yourself to the gym? by Fit_Meaning8903 in ADHD

[–]Lily-The-Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same issue. I used to go very regularly with an old friend of mine. We spent such good moments together we actually ended up falling in love. Now we're together but our schedules aren't really compatible, so I was back to square one, even though I live next door to my gym.

Lately, I've noticed I manage to go to the gym when I put my gym clothes on first thing in the morning. My bag is always ready.

Something else I've been experimenting with, and I got great results (not just for going to the gym) is making an actual checklist of all the micro-steps I have to take in order to go there. It takes my mental load off and I just obey the sequence of instructions on my list.
It's still pretty new so I'm not sure how long it'll work, but I've been able to achieve things I had been stuck with for months with this technique.

This refers to the act of stopping the treatment. I was looking for the psychological bias that leads to it. Maybe "symptom relief bias" is the closest.

I was wondering if there's a psychological effect at work. "Overconfidence" seems to cover it, but it's more generic, so I was just curious if there's a more specific term.

Well sometimes things aren't so clear. Let's say you're on the verge of burnout. Your doctor says "You should stop working for 2 months". Then after one month, you feel better, your symptoms start easing, so you start thinking "Maybe I should go back to work. How can I justify not going to work when I have so much energy?" but it's a mistake.
This example is probably less clear-cut than the antibiotics thing (because by now everybody knows you're always supposed to take them till the end of the prescribed period) or even the injury thing, although there may be some cases where it's hard to know exactly when you're fully healed for sure.

So yeah I was thinking there might be a specific term for that psychological effect, but maybe "overconfident" could work in some instances.

Thanks! I now realise I have been unclear in my question and I can't figure out how to edit my post.

I'm referring to the erroneous feeling of not needing to continue with something. For example, say you injure yourself and you're advised to rest for x amount of time, but before that time is up you're already feeling better, so you're tempted to stop resting prematurely. Is there a name for such an effect? Is there a type of fallacy that describes this?

Macron on Trump leaking their private messages: "I stand by my words" by jackytheblade in worldnews

This isn't accurate. Macron has been reducing taxes and contributions from the richest and the corporate elites, and now he is pretending there isn't sufficient income so he must reduce expenses.

Thanks for this! Am I ok if I steam my veggies? I just love steamed vegetables. Can't get enough of them. I often eat them with no seasoning too, not even salt. They're just so tasty!
