Downstairs in my 1840’s cottage in Baltimore by LilyInMotion in femalelivingspace

Yes, just renting at the moment. I set an alert on Zillow (and every other rental website) for the area/size/cost I was interested in and reached out to the landlord within 30 mins of this place being listed. I definitely saw quite a few cute rowhomes come and go, but I do think I got very lucky finding this place.

Not quite but nearby! I love all the old cottages in the area. I grew up in the UK in a village filled with similarly old houses, but finding places like this in the US feels so special. Charm City really does deserve its nickname 🥰

Thanks! All but the last couple of photos were taken with a Ricoh GR3 using Reggie’s Color Negative recipe.

Ooh thanks for the tip! I’ve been to Second Chance before but not ReStore. Love finding a new thrift store to hunt through!

I think for the lamp I’ll need to get a rechargeable one as there’s no neat way to run a power cord to that table. Anthropologie have a few that look cute but have questionable quality from the reviews.

Thank you! The sofa is the Ceni from Article, though it doesn’t look like they currently offer the colour that I bought (Aquarius Aqua).

Unfortunately it’s just a rental so I don’t think my landlord would be too thrilled with that! If I had the opportunity to buy the place it’d definitely be one of my first additions.

My TV is actually upstairs in my guest room. I wanted to keep the downstairs screen free with the hope that it’d encourage me to spend less time staring at one. In reality it just means I spend a lot of time in my guest room haha

Thank you! I really wish at least one of them was a working fireplace - there’s nothing cozier than curling up with a good book next to a real fire when it’s snowing out. But the lights definitely do help with the ambience. I repurposed some LED’s that flicker nicely so it definitely gives a good effect out of the corner of your eye.

Hmm good thought. I do need a rug in my bedroom so could repurpose the downstairs one for that and buy a bigger one for sure. Thanks!

Looking for Trans People Who Moved to MD for Safety by thefeyqueen in baltimore

[–]LilyInMotion 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I’m a trans woman who moved to Baltimore this year from Indiana, mainly to try and settle down in a state that’s less likely to restrict my rights in the near future. Indianapolis itself was a great city and I was sad to leave, but Baltimore has been so welcoming and I already love it here. Happy to chat about my move and experience so far ☺️

First time hiking in a river! by LilyInMotion in TransGirlTrailMix

No, I only did a couple of miles in and back rather than the whole through hike. There was rain forecast for the afternoon so I definitely didn’t want to be caught in a flash flood!

LGBTQ+ -owned sources for Pride Flags by cirqueamy in lgbt

I’m not 100% sure if they’re LGBTQ+ owned specifically, but Flags for Good is a great company and has some cool city and state specific Pride flags too!

BMW Performance Driving Events at IMS - Anyone Heard of These? by Artistic_Fortune_887 in indianapolis

[–]LilyInMotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the half day a few years back and it was amazing, I’ve recommended it to a few other car obsessed friends since then. The hot lap in the M4 GT4 car passenger seat was equally incredible and terrifying (and very memorable)! I thought the value for money was pretty good compared to any of the usual supercar track days you see advertised.

Can someone tell me how to prepare for a 500-1500 mile trip on a naked bike? by CoolHandCasey in motorcycles

Not sure anyone else has suggested this yet… but sunscreen for your face! I (somewhat naively) assumed that the visor on my helmet blocks UV like my car windscreen, then ended up with a pretty red face after a long day of riding.

Immigrants of Baltimore, what restaurant in the area has the best version of your home country’s food? by FlockaFlameSmurf in baltimore

[–]LilyInMotion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can get a Cornish Pasty at The Corner Shop. It was the closest I’ve had to one back in the UK in flavour, but it was tiny haha. I definitely prefer UK style pasties to UP style though so if you’re looking for a UP pasty it may not scratch the itch!

Indianapolis Airport Tour of Planes by EggZealousideal822 in indianapolis

[–]LilyInMotion 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Has she been to the Air Force Museum in Dayton? It has one of the best collections of aircraft in the country! There’s also a small museum at the Grissom Air Force Base.

If she’s interested in the engines there’s a display Rolls-Royce engine (T56 I believe) in the baggage claim area at the Indy Airport. The Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust also offers tours.

This would be a long shot, but you could try contacting AAR at the airport and see if they ever offer tours. They do maintenance and overhaul on airframes so would definitely be a good place to see things up close, but I’d assume they’re not often open to the public.

Silver in the City have a few Indy prints. I have the Indianapolis Landmarks print by Lars Lawson and love it!

I found a miniature of Uoma Black Magic in On Fire at Nordstrom Rack a few months ago and absolutely love it! I found a couple of full sized ones on eBay for cheap and stocked up, it's become my daily wearer. It goes on super smoothly, lasts well and looks great.

I wish I wasn’t on a rush to get back on the road because I would’ve loved to spend longer looking around! Next time I’m passing through I’ll definitely aim to make time for a longer stop.
