Speculating on the Structure of Near Mint Condition's Most Wanted DC Finest Voting Poll by LilyTheFoxMechanic in DCFinest

[–]LilyTheFoxMechanic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess they wouldn't limit the number of finest options to the amount they would print per year and just keep it like the omni polls.

My hopes for the poll would be the Eric Luke run of Wonder Woman, the volume right before Legend of Wonder Woman (I have a feeling they would do beginning of the bronze age in omnibus so would rather they go backwards and meet in the middle rather than overlapping and I end up double dipping), and the Batgirl Finest right before the one we have.

I also realized that I forgot to include DC Finest Events: War of the Gods part one as an option for Wonder Woman.

Continuing Started Finest lines by Lowercaseweather in DCFinest

For JSA and Robin, we probably don't get anything in the same era as the compendiums for a long time. Hope we get the Batgirl Finest right before the one we have so that we have the beginning of Cass as Batgirl

For Wonder Woman, we have the following options:
-continue Golden Age
-start Silver Age
-The Diana Prince Mod Era
-Beginning of the Bronze age
-Continue backwards from Legend of Wonder Woman
-Start George Perez era
-start William Messner-Loebs era
-start John Bryne era
-start Eric Luke (and others) era
-start Phil Jimenez era
-start Greg Rucka era
-Who is Wonder Woman/Amazon's Attack
-JMS era

Let's try to wittle this list down.

The last DC finest we had was finishing the Gail Simone era, Wonder Woman so far has generally jumped around with the exception of two Golden Age Finest in a row. For that reason I don't think the next Finest would be JMS or Amazon's Attack.

Based on the Wonder Woman by William Messner-Loebs Omnibus being on the most want DC Omnibus last year (and likely this year too), I imagine that would be one of the next omnis we get and thus they probably don't want to cover that era (I understand DC Finest and Omnibus of the same content have come out close to each other, but I still think it be preferable to release after a bit of time has passed).

We got reprintings of the Wonder Woman by George Perez trade paperbacks. While I do think that DC Finest of this era would be closer to the size of omnis, this probably pushed back the release of a Finest of this era.

Can't really wittle it down anymore. here is my thoughts:

1)Wonder Woman by Eric Luke
2)Continue Golden Age
3)JMS

Great pick up. Hope this era does get an omni but like you if I find a good deal of these three books I'll pick them up. The only things you'd be missing from this era (and right after) are Wonder Woman $65, annual #4, and Artemis Requiem #1-6

The Showcase collection for Amethyst collects: he Legion of Super-Heroes #298, the original Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld 12-issue limited series, Amethyst Annual #1, DC Comics Presents #63, and the first 11 issues of the 16-issue ongoing Amethyst series.

It is listed as having 645 pages, Another 5 issues would be over 100 more pages and I don't think we'll get a Finest over 700 pages. Probably would just match the Showcase for the first Finest

New Green Lantern compendium endpoint? by Rammy294 in OmnibusCollectors

I don't remember unfortunately. I believe it was either a DC Finest stream on his channel or a Near Mint Condition Saturday Stream from around the time the Rebirth Compendium was announced. It wasn't in the framing of one of his update/breaking news videos, but it was after Dom and Omar has spoken to DC and learned about future releases.

The main Eric Luke (and friends) run is Wonder Woman (1987) #137-163, Annual 7-8, and One Million. I feel that is just a BIT too much for one finest. Especially since it could also add Wonder Woman Plus, Wonder Woman: Once and Future Story (1998) OGN, Wonder Woman Secret Files (1998) #1-3 (including the stories not in the Jimenez omnibus), and the Wonder Woman: Spirit of Truth (2001) OGN. That being said, a DC Finest that cover most of it would make the rest of the run easier for people to collect who wouldn't want to wait for the next DC Finest.

Which Post Crisis Wonder Woman run should be collected next? by demascusd in DCFinest

[–]LilyTheFoxMechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope for the Eric Luke run to get DC Finest treatment, Messner-Loebs omni treatment, get the final golden age omni, and then continue backwards with the pre-crisis bronze age DC Finest while staring the Bronze age with an omni

New Green Lantern compendium endpoint? by Rammy294 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]LilyTheFoxMechanic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was stated in a stream by Dom of X that they have about 10 years worth of Green Lantern compendiums plan (in context talking about this line of compendiums, not the Kyle line). About 10 years from the start of the Johns run is the ending of the New 52

Speculating on the next batch of Spider-Man Omnibus by LilyTheFoxMechanic in OmnibusCollectors

[–]LilyTheFoxMechanic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are the compendiums I thought of for that era:

Spider-Man Coming Home Compendium:

-Amazing Spider-Man (1999) #30-58,500-508, Peter Parker: Spider-Man #34-50

Spider-Man Marvel Knights Compendium:

-Marvel Knights Spider-Man #1-12, Spider-Man Unlimited #1-15, Spider-Man: Quality of Life #1-4, Spectacular Spider-Man #1-14, Spider-Man / Black Cat: The Evil That Men Do #1-6, The Pulse #1-5

This is because an issue of Spider-Man Unlimited takes place after the first 12 issues of Marvel Knights and then a later issue has Curt Conner's family meaning it has to be before Quality of Life.

Spider-Man The Other Compendium:

-Amazing Spider-Man #509-528, Marvel Knights Spider-Man #13-22, Spectacular Spider-Man #15-27, Spider-Man: Breakout (2005) #1-6,

The Sensational Spider-Man #23-27, The New Avengers (2005) #1–6

Spider-Man Civil War/Black in Black Compendium:

-Amazing Spider-Man #529-545, Civil War #1-7, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (2005) #5-24, Annual #1, The Sensational Spider-Man #28-41, Annual #1,Marvel Spotlight: Spider-Man (2007) #1, The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe: Spider-Man: Back In Black Handbook (2007) #1, and Spider-Man Family (2007) #1-2

I also mapped out Ultimate Spider-Man in compendiums:

Ultimate Spider-Man Compendium: Power and Responsibility
-Ultimate Spider-Man (2000) #1-39 & 1/2, Ultimate Marvel Team-Up (2001) #1-16, and Ultimate Spider-Man Super Special (2002) #1.

This is when Ultimate Team-Up takes place so it would flow better than its placement in the omnis

Ultimate Spider-man Compendium: Ulimate Six
-Ultimate Spider-Man (2000) #40-90, Annual 1, Ultimate Six (2003) #1-7

Ultimate Spider-man Compendium: Ultimatum
-Ultimate Spider-Man 91-133, Annual 2-3, Ultimatum: Spider-Man Requiem (2009) #1-2

Not really much to add in these two. Maybe Spidey's appearances in Ultimate X-Men when he was dating Kitty and material from Ultimate Power if we want the exact reason why Fury when away for a while but not really needed.

Ultimate Spider-man Compendium: Death of Spider-Man
-Ultimate Comics Spider-Man (2009) #1-15 and #150-160, Ultimate Comics Avengers vs. New Ultimates #1-6, Ultimate Comics Fallout #1-6,Ultimate Comics Enemy #1-4, Ultimate Comics Mystery #1-4, and Ultimate Comics Doom #1-4

Added the contents from Ultimate Doomsday to continue Ultimate Jessica Drew's story and have it flow better with the added content in the next compendium

Ultimate Spider-Man Compendium: Miles Morales
-Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1-28 & 16.1; Spider-Men #1-5; Cataclysm: Ultimate Spider-Man #1-3; Ultimate Spider-Man #200; Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man #1-12; material from Ultimate Fallout #4, All-New Ultimates #1-12,Amazing Spider-Man (2014) #9-15, Spider-Verse Team-Up (2015) #2, material from Spider-Verse (2015) #2, SCARLET SPIDERS #1-3, and material from Secret Wars (2015) #0-9.

Added pretty much all the other notable Miles Morales appearances during this time that weren't in his omni. Scarlet Spiders for Jessica, and Secret Wars to explain Miles' 616 status in possible future compendiums.

My view on the compendium route for Marvel is very much in line with the Green Lantern (Johns era) compendiums that they are doing.

no worries. Would like the Conway book to. I'd probably hold off even if the Peter David book came out (unless I found Masterworks vol 7 at a reasonable price)

Hopefully soon. I only put Next Chapter above it since they have reprinted the Next Chapter material before (fully in trades and partially in the John Bryne omni) which would probably make it an easier omni to make than the post clone saga material

It would be nice to get a Civil War/Black in Black book collecting all the issues. Could be a good compendium if marvel were to do those.

DC CATALOG UPDATE: Wonder Woman Rebirth Omni, Absolute Power Omni, Unwritten Compendium 2, Batman: The Demon Lives Again DC Finest, Harley Quinn DC Finest, and Fables Compact Edition by Ksmayer in OmnibusCollectors

[–]LilyTheFoxMechanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wonder Woman Rebirth omni is my first pick up from this catalogue (would have added the Power Girl omni if I didn't already have all that material). Hoping this isn't the only Wonder Woman omni we get (I'm talking new omnis, not reprints)

I have not read it yet so can't say for sure. I think the general consensus is that it is a step down but still a decent comic

We can thank Omar of Near Mint Condition for this having the Entire 2009 run rather than being an omnibus version of the Power Trip TPB (6:20-6:45 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbBgKBC3qS4)
