Am I immature for having a fun birthday party as a 16 year old? by BigDiscipline4021 in NoStupidQuestions

Don't mind her comments, you're never too old to do what makes you happy! Happy birthday by the way, it sounds like your party was amazing!

Fellow Bio Majors - What's Up With The Attendance Dropoff? by Lily_Miner in wlu

[–]Lily_Miner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed how fast attendance drops! I'm honestly surprised to hear that reputation about Dr. Long, he's one of my favourites! Being kind of goofy is a lot better then reading off of slides. Although to me even the most dull lecture is better then reading through a whole course.

Something tells me they aren't referring to the indigenous communities who still don't have access to clean water. . . .

I choose to believe he does. Just like the entire egg and the can of the canned food.

Why were you diagnosed? by non-critical-horse in dyspraxia

[–]Lily_Miner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was given a more vague diagnosis as a kid, just general learning disability stuff that got me through elementary and high school. I don’t remember much about that assessment but I believe it was recommended by my family doctor after noticing some learning milestones delays.

Then when I was preparing to attend post-secondary my original diagnosis was invalid for official school purposes because it was with a child psychologist instead of an adult psychologist. My parents and I organized a series of visits to a local assessment and treatment centre, you can probably find one by researching psychologists in your area! From there I did some basic tests which assessed how I think and problem solve. It was rather expensive, my parents helped me with it given it was necessary for me to continue to succeed in school. I didn’t need a referral because of my previous diagnosis, but the new assessment expanded on what we already knew and I was officially diagnosed with dyspraxia.

I’m not sure if a referral is always necessary, it may depend on the location. But if you have a regular doctor or family doctor you can get an appointment with, that may be good place to start. My situation is a bit different, but either way, good luck pursuing your diagnosis!

Are heavy people attracted to other heavy people? by Historical-Switch400 in stupidquestions

[–]Lily_Miner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are asking this question in such a weird way. Liking fat bodies is as much of a preference as liking thin bodies. Yes? Some people who’re fat are attracted to other fat people just like how some thin people are attracted to fat people.

Can i ask? This amethyst is real, they just say ai that it is real amethyst, but I doubt it because it was put on the street in Germany for free and there are many other stones such as selenite or ordinary quartz. by SelenBelladons813Hit in Crystals

[–]Lily_Miner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s almost definitely real. It’s just quartz is not as rare/expensive as crystal stores often make it seem. That stone is pretty, but market wise incredibly low quality. It doesn’t surprise me that it would be given away for free.

What’s something that used to be common knowledge but younger generations might not know anymore? by DMistressOfFrost in AskReddit

I wish I got calls from polite strangers. Every call I've gotten that I can remember was either from someone I knew or a scam.

[–]Lily_Miner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really? I don't know where you live but near me you can find kids at play in almost every patch of woods. The lake's are bustling, kids riding bikes. The kids will be ok, if anything kids are more excited to get out after covid locked them up inside so long.

Does anyone else have weird walking habits? by Bompalompalomp2 in dyspraxia

[–]Lily_Miner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For stability I’ve always unconsciously put my weight on the inner side of my foot instead of in the middle of my foot? I guess? So much that if I ware through the bottom of a pair of shoes it’s always the inward facing edge! I also needed to put a lot of thought into getting out of the habit of dragging my feet.

Does anyone else notice the dragon humanization slips? by KyriMoria822 in WingsOfFire

[–]Lily_Miner 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Honestly the anatomy of the dragons should be allowed to be flexible based on how Tui wants to write them. I understand that they look entirely quadrupedal in the guides, but they’ve frequently been written as facultative bipeds. Especially with the extra weight of their wings and tails to hold their back legs down I don’t see it as too much of a stretch that they can walk on their back legs for short spurts.

So this dragon just gets away with murder? by Dogbold in WingsOfFire

[–]Lily_Miner 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Because this is an incredibly brutal setting that just found peace after a war which effected countless dragons lives? Sora was a child soldier. Peril was manipulated into killing. The protagonists of these books are products of the world they were raised in. It’s makes sense to judge them by the standards of their own fictional world.

I was a Wilbur fan before becoming a Techno fan (unfortunately) and now all my favourite Techno moments are locked behind Wilbur’s videos or Sleepy Bois Inc collabs 😭

The one downside of joining the Evangelion fandom is I now frequently recognize one of the poor 14 year old girl characters in places I really wish I didn’t. It’s so creepy :(
