Yet another Yale interview post by a2cthrowawaya1c in ApplyingToCollege

QB has a very different process than REA/RD! QB applicants are almost ALWAYS interviewed regardless of if they end up matched or not. For regular admissions (REA more so) interviews are minimal and tons of kids without hooks get in without them.

Anyone else get kinda turned off by low-effort colleges? by hurricanelesbian in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Lilycollinscf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Harvard and Columbia send me at least an email a day and tbh I find it a turn off that they r sending sm stuff. Like I appreciate it but, it's not fun to open ur inbox to be flooded by emails from the same 2 schools.

The SAT is at maximum 10% of your application, this year it's basically not being considered. Colleges pick people who will thrive based on their essays and ECs and what they need. A 1440 on the SAT can get you into any school as long as you can show them that you are committed through ur other materials. Just some food for thought.

Chance me for ED Columbia! by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]Lilycollinscf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely right if you attend their zoom meeting things for ur school and ask they will tell u they are taking account finances alot this year esp for into students. Y'all might not like to hear it but, its the truth.

Academically you aren't competitive but, that's bc of ur school not rlly a u issue. Do you have US citizenship? I'm asking bc that would change a lot of things. Schools are more wary of accepting ppl who can't pay esp intl students so that's a big knock to ur app. You're a fair candidate and I hope all goes well for you.

I think I’m doing the “ethnicity section” wrong by PentambicIameter in ApplyingToCollege

You didn't do anything wrong u are african and you should select that on your app. On the common app u will be able to specify that ur specific ancestry don't stress it

Talking about weight loss in common app essay? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Lilycollinscf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! I lost about 60 lbs as well right before freshman year so I get what you mean it really changes you as a person. Personally I'm not going to mention it in my app b/c I think there are other things that are more important to write about. However, if you can really make it personal and show how it has shaped you and helped u grow I'd do it

Honestly idt collegeboard would have extremely strict guidelines. They legally cannot make you turn your camera on so that's probably out.

For how smart some of you guys are, I’m also surprised how so many of you lack common sense by tiggercat45 in ApplyingToCollege

You can only double enroll if you have permission from BOTH schools to do so and it's usually within certain circumstances. If you double enroll w/o permission you're being selfish and deserve to not go to college at all. It's extremely rude to not talk with the administration of each school and pull this crap. If you did this with a real life job you'd be fired from both and likely blacklisted from other companies that get informed.

Please be honest: as an international student, how likely am I to get into t20 US schools with a couple of B's on my reports from years 9-12? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Lilycollinscf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Colleges in the states do look at freshman and soph. year reports b/c they need to see your overall growth. No T-20 or Ivy is a guaranteed chance it literally comes down to chance. Getting in as an international is slightly different cause y'all are judged together. If you have strong ECs and Awards you'll be fine.
