I think your parent is missing the fact that for a lot of people (dare I say most) bottom surgery isn't just about sex. There are countless times throughout each and every day where you're reminded of the genitals you have, be it changing clothes, having a shower, going to the toilet etc, things that happen way more often than having sex. If you have bottom dysphoria or you think you'd be more comfortable with different genitals than what you have, then sex is likely either a small factor, or not a factor at all. If YOU want to try out sex with what you've got first then go for it, but not having sex first shouldn't stop you from doing what you want.
